Jess's Diary - Weighed in a day early..

I had GBK tonight. It was YUM. I decided to just have 5 chicken selects and sour cream for lunch.. I didn't want 2 lots of burger, chips and bread in one day. That was 13 points though! Mental. I don't really understand why selects are so bad.. yes they're deep fried but so is everything else that's not beef. A McChicken sandwich, with bread and mayonnaise etc is 6 points.. how are 5 strips of chicken that bad?! Chicken nuggets are the lowest point thing on the menu  Must be something in the coating.

I had a garlic mayo burger and chips. Om nom nom, it was delicious. No idea of points.. chips probably about 9, burger maybe about 13.. so my whole day's allowence on one meal :p Tomorrow is going to be worse! Piiiiieeeeeee.

I bought Adam a High School Musical lunchbox to take to work. Little inside joke :p Plus he broke his mug at work so a bought him a plastic "the best little boy in the world" cup. Can't break that! Toys 'R' Us has this crazy set up though.. had to go all the way past the shop to get in and it was maze like.. it's really hard to get around the store and out of the exit. Plus they have a big sign out front saying you're not allowed to bring in other shopping bags and to leave them in your car.. ermm.. what if you don't have a car? I think they forget who pays their bills

Wow, I surpassed myself last night. The starter was amazing (though who could mess up cutting up bread, toasting bread, melting camembert and dolloping onion marmalade from a jar?), the pie was the best pie I've ever had. First one I'd made. I was meant to do mash (I do goooood mash) but the potatoes had gone funny so heated some frozen croquettes. Eton mess was really nice too, though I couldn't eat it all. Adam ate so much, so success :p

Hi Jess. Your meal sounds lovely; hope Adam appreciated it! What sort of pie did you make? My son is always whinging that I have never made him a pie so I'm probably going to have to at some point.

BTW, how many points is the veggie sandwich at McD's?

Veggi deli is 9.5 (they changed the mint yoghurt dressing to ranch.. less tasty, more points :( I have lite mayo instead). Veggi deluxe (the burger) is 6 points.

I made a steak and onion pie. It was just steak, onion, parsley and thyme. Fried off the beef (coated in flour) and simmered everything in a pint of beef stock for about 1 hour 45 mins (until it's like gravy basically). You could just put veg in instead. Covered with puff pastry from the packet, put a steam hole in, brushed with egg.. 20-25 mins in the oven on 7/220.

Thanks Jess. I sometimes have to get something to eat on the run so would prob try the veggie burger then.

Pie sounds nice - I might have a go at making a mince and onion one using TVP mince.

Lost 1.5lb. Whoooo :) This weekend I've eaten: chips, burger, pie, icecream, cheesecake, eton mess, panini, crisps and chocolate. I'm going to aim for 100% this week and hopefully should see a good loss.

Been a busy bee! I saw my mum, aunty and 2 cousins in London on Thursday. They got a coach trip and Adam and I had to act as guides. They had less than 6 hours so we decided to take them on the open tour buses. Did a full circuit, had lunch at Planet Hollywood (disappointing, just a fancy TGI sort of thing.. I chose fajitas for lunch, the salads were probably worse!). My cousins wanted to do the London Dungeons but the queues were maaassive so they went to the new London Bridge Experience thing.. very scary apparently. I don't like scary things so I waited with Adam in Pret a Manger :p The coach driver said if anyone was late he'd have to leave without them because he wasn't allowed to stop (???) and they were sooo close to missing it. They were longer in the LBE than we thought and the tour bus route was longer than expected. We asked the bus driver how long to Marble Arch, where the coach was leaving from and he said 30 minutes. All fine, we had 45 until the coach left. 35 mins later the bus stopped at Picadilly and we were all told to disembark to continue the tour on another bus. The dude obviously had misheard and we were still about 40 minutes away with 10 minutes to go. Very quickly flagged down a black cab and pulled up to the pick up point moments before the coach did. Phew. On the plus side I got a good few APs in. Adam and I parked the car in Westfield shopping centre and walked the 3 miles to MA, on top of the walking around.

Last night went to Adam's mum's. I went horrifically over my points but I didn't really have a choice. She'd done us dinner and had bought bottles and bottles of different alcohol along with a cocktail book. I had some sangria and most of a jug of cosmos (yum yum). Foodwise had half a camembert and a load of bread, chicken dippers, chips (actifry though, so not awful), ham, tomatoes, coleslaw and I can't even remember what else. I can't say I care though, it was yummy and I left feeling rather merry. I played Sports Resort... I was awesome.

Today! Went to Tesco with Adam to buy lunch and some magazines. I get through so many magazines, I love them! Today I got More and Take A Break. I only really get TAB for the puzzles, I text the answers off every week :p I don't even complete the crosswords etc I just do the bare minimum to get the answers. TAB keeps ranting about hair dye and Turkey, can't be bothered with reading it anymore. ANYWAY. Once we'd parked up I noticed a load of cards and photos under our car. Credit card, donor card, membership cards, discount cards, travel cards etc. We thought about giving it into customer services but decided not to incase she didn't realise where she lost it and never claimed them. Instead we took them home and phoned a few numbers on the cards. We only got through to the National Trust who passed our phone number on to her. I actually found her phone number on the phone book website later (don't know why I didn't think of that first ) but no answer. She phoned us later and we took them round to her. She hadn't even noticed she'd lost them and was very grateful :) I feel very good about myself, hehe. We got a bottle of wine off her, which I took but now I wish I hadn't really. I didn't do it too get anything out of it, I just would like someone to do it for me. She obviously bought the wine for herself to enjoy and now it's going to sit in my fridge for a while!

Well done on the loss Jess. It sounds a great day with your family and gaining APs also is great.

Take care

M

Hey
I would think that lady was MORE than grateful that such an honest person had taken the trouble of finding and then contacting her - just think - someone else could have found those cards and gone on a spree - I should think her giving her bottle of wine to you as a thankyou is nothing compared to the cost of her being fleeced/id stolen etc if you hadn't done the right thing.

Good for you - a fine citizen xx

Well done jess on your good deed for the day!

Wow what a busy time. Sounds lovely though! And top points for honesty. Sadly very few people would have done that. So good for you x x x hope you are enjoying today

Yes good for you for being so honest - don't worry about the wine, she obviously wanted to say thank-you and that's a nice thing to do.

Sounds like you had a lovely - albeit slightly frantic - time in London. I always lose weight when I go to London with all the walking I do :)

1500 posts, whoo!

I've decided not to weigh myself for a month. I keep weighing myself everyday and can't stop. I'm getting too hung up on what I lose each day. So, I'm just going to focus on eating healthily and sticking to points instead of weight loss for now. I'll hop on the scales at the beginning of September and see what I've managed to do :) Feels very liberating!

I was considering about having my next new years resolution be do one act of kindness every day. I think I am going to start much sooner though. Adam wants to do it with me. We're going to start a little blog, I think. It can be anything from something small like running a bath or something big like tracking down someone to return their lost cards and photos :p I may add the rule that I can't do the same thing twice as I think it'll be fun having to be creative, plus it'll stop me making Adam a cup of tea every day.

I want to change my username, how do I do that?
