Me, Myself & I... Lower carb, fasting, real live foods

WI this morning .. Not impressed :( I'm 90.4kg. A gain of 3 kgs .. Had WDPR due to codydamol and antibiotics .. My feet, ankles and hands are swollen, totm .. It's the highest I've been for months and months ..

When I come back in 3 weeks I better be lower than that!

If I have time in the morning I will weigh again lol

Enjoy your holiday Hun. And then get yourself back to it properly when you are back.. xx

Have a wonderful holiday Tara. At the risk of sounding like a nasty person. Im going to have to say this and hope you dong hate me.

You should relax and eat normally and use the time away to think about how you are eating. You have got so many different diets and ways of eating like primal, wheat free, sugar free, aloe detox, supplements. Your poor body hasn't a clue what the hell is going on so you are losing and gaining the same pounds over and over again. You have used every excuse under the sun for your gains and cravings when in reality it's due to the fact that you're eating crap and a lot of it. You need to sort put your head. Decide to eat less and stuck to one type of diet notices them. Acknowledge the fact that gains are due to not following the plan and for no other reason and weight loss will follow.

We've all fallen off the wagon and got back on. It's life. But success will only happen when we are determined to succeed and our head is in the right place and has a single path to follow not 10 different routes

Come on Tara. You know you can do it. Come back after your holiday with s single plan and go for it.

Nope don't hate you .. :) thank you for saying it!

Def going with primal eating - which is grain free, legume free, limited potatoe(ok on intensive exercise days), limited sweet potatoes, plenty veg, meat, low sugar/ alternative natural sugars. Keeping carbs 50-100 for weight loss, maintaining at 100-150.. Anything over 150+ is gaining weight

Fasting is also primal - but only once you have switched from a sugar burner to a fat burner .. Aka have reduced your processed foods, removed grains and legumes, and are eating plenty veg, meat, nuts, seeds - it's easier to fast if your blood sugar levels are steady! i.e following the primal WOE.. I find that the fasting has good Heath benefits and ideally want to do 2 days a week - it is also prob the only thing I've found that reduces my pregnant look, my upper abdomen - puffs up when I eat something that I'm sensitive to .. Wheat, sugars etc .. The fasting seems to make it flatter . Go figure :)

True I eat too much, and I've been terrible with my food choices since about march/ April ! Which is why I've not lost weight!

I def need to kcal count and keep thing under 1500 daily. I also need to watch the carb values.

I also need to stop grazing in the afternoon.. Which is when I tend to get hungry

The meal replacement shake idea - is offered with primal too - but their shake mix tastes yucky! I quite like the forever aloe vera one.. I've been using loads different supplements for ages now plus aloe vera juice.

Hoping that once I've had a break and a good think that I can come back and make it work for me :)

Thanks for the verbal kick !

That's good.
It just seems so mixed up and not having any real benefits to you. Maybe it's time for a rethink and a change. .
I loved doing the 5:2 fasting I felt great but my body hated it. I would put loads of weight on each fast day and just keep gaining. Then when I started to have an extra 'normal' week after a 5:2 fast week to try and even it out i would suddenly drop over a stone each time. But the fluctuations can't be good for me so I stopped.
Sometimes as much as we like a particular way of eating we have to accept that our bodies don't appreciate it and find something else.

Have a lovely holiday and enjoy the rest x

Having a good time away, - the swelling In my hands and feet has finally gone down... It's sunny and hot.

Diet wise here they don't eat much meat, plenty bread, rice, pasta - I've had a wee bit of the crust of the bread but not much, . I've been having rice rather than pasta.. I'd brought rice cakes for snacks for boys and myself .. Been having 2 for breakfast with either honey or Nutella.. Lunch veg dishes with salad, dinner more veg with salad ... All very nice but they eat so late like at 9 or 10 pm .. The fruits are so fresh and nice .. The watermelons are huge and so yummy!!

we go to the beach tomorrow for 10 days - food will be different - but plenty salads and prob bit more meat/ seafood .. Once there will prob have a shake for breakfast .. Will Buy some UHT milk .. Here we have fresh milk from the cow of my other brother in law .. But not that much, as it is split between the families - the brother in law we are staying with their cow has not had her calf yet, so they don't have milk yet... Don't want to offend them by buying some :)

I can relax and know my kids are having fun with their older cousins, less stress for me and a chance to have a break.

The beach is hot, sandy and nice.. The sea is calm ... I'm a little bit ..ok a lot red In patches lol my OH is a bit hit and miss with the suncream

The sea is a bit cold still mid morning but once you get used to it it's nice .. It's about 30 degrees at the mo.. But this weekend the temps meant to go 35+

Diet wise.. Loads of salads, the place we are at does freshly chopped fried potato chips - out of their garden or the local farmers .. Little bit meat and good fishy choices - all produce is local and fresh - yummy :)

At the beach fresh popped pop corn, grilled fresh corn cobs, fruit, bananas ..

Still thinking about my choices and how to go forward when I get back .. I'm still trending towards primal WOE with 2 fasts of 800 kcals but I really need to control how much I'm eating in between lunch and dinner.. Plus keep my kcals below 1500 on my non fast days ..,

I'm impressed I've not eaten bread to the shock of my OHs family who eat it with everything lol

I had a crust the other day when we 1st arrived to be polite then explained I am trying not to eat bread for Heath/ diet reasons and apart from laughing in shock have been ok with it :)

I've eaten something that my stomach doesn't like... I've bad gas, and need to stay close to the loo .. OH is a bit cross as I've not left the hotel room today apart from dropping kids to the beach ... Which means he's had to deal with them rather than relaxing and playing chess with his brother..

Im assuming its a combination of stuff .. Or salad overload lol not food poisoning but mainly indigestion.. Have medication - will be fine tomorrow I'm sure ..

Back from my 3 weeks away, had a great time visiting family and at the beach :) my kids are a wee bit tanned, but leaner and fitter from playing with all their cousins.. Hopefully my weight has not gone up by much! Will weigh in later and see the damage...

I didn't eat much of any bread for the entire time - my sister in law had some freshly milled flour which had been grown locally and then ground locally - so to be polite i had little bit - was lovely! I left it at that and didn't have any more. My OHs family make bread fresh every day, bread is a big part of every meal. I think one lunch we had rice, potato soup and bread and of course salad. I had rice and salad. Meat is expensive so is not had very often, and when it is, its freshly culled chicken or young beef or lamb depending on what animals the family has. When we visit we buy local fresh meat (less than 24 hours old) so the family for the time we are there eat more meat.

I loved all the fresh home grown fruit and veggies, and local fresh produce! All tasted and smells so much better than what we have in our British supermarkets - but def hard work growing and producing it all!

WI this morning .. Not impressed :( I'm 90.4kg.

Well WI today shows 90.9kg so a 500g gain for my holiday - I'm ok with that.

I will WI officially on Friday morning. I'm hoping that getting back to drinking more water and with it not being so hot my body will let go of some of the fluid it's retaining ;)

Off to start cooking breakfast for my family now - holiday over :)

Just need to sort out my WOE and get back on track with good food choices and exercise :)

Supplements I'm going to take daily to help with my recent tummy issues - salad over dose with added sugar and wheat while on holiday lol

VitD3
Digestive enzymes - to help my stomach start working better.
Fish oil tablets- don't eat enough omega 3 foods
Probiotic - good for repopulating my digestive system after my course of antibiotics and steroids just before and during my hols
Magnesium - better energy (I hope!)
Aloe Vera gel - digestive issues ;)
Garcinia and chromium - helps with carb cravings and appetite

I've been reading loads of stuff and theses seem to be the ones suggested for overweight, bloated, insulin challenged people ;)

A half a kilo gain for a three week holiday is pretty good going. I managed to gain 9 pounds when i was away for 11 days.....

Back to normality now and your everyday routine - you'll have that small gain off in no time.

Well done Hun, 0.5lb is nothing..

Now time to get yourself back in the zone :)
