I remember the chef at work used to taste the food and spit it out again - so he'd know if it was ok but not consume it!

I agree a taste wouldn't influence your losses. Bc a taste wouldnt be high in cals! But really can't they add their own salt if its not to taste and time your pasta?!

I taste it once or twice - pasta to check its cooked .. So prob like 3 strings spag total - timing pasta I end up with glue or under cooked .. I suppose I could spit it out lol

Other stuff a tsp maybe twice not much really lol

I'm cooking for everyone - as kids and adults eat it. Rice I cook by sight / no probs lol

Why do you eat the whole string?! Can't you just cut it and see if its cooked through that's how I
Check my spag. Or just nibble the end?!

I wouldn't bother I'd get them to add they're own salt Hun! Especially if you think that's your weakness/problem!!

I do the same Kirsty. I just cut my pasta. And I taste it once

Lol I break the spag into smaller bits to cook it - so the bit is quite small. we don't have spag / pasta much any way.

Tasting to check seasoning I think is important .. But it's not much lol and I generally only taste meat cooked in sauces like con carni/ mince mixes / stews etc

Well my two non fast days have been good!

Another fast day tomorrow! I'm feeling prepared but hoping I won't get peckish!

This is my third week of the 5:2 and it seems to be really workin for me - 9 pounds down so far.

It was exactly what I needed to get me losing weight again.

Wow that's amazing! How many cals are you eating on non fast days then?? I'm very jealous lets hope it gets me going aswell! Xx
 
Well second fast today and I found it harder than the first!

I found I was hungry by lunch - I couldn't have breakfast work was too manic so had my cereal and lunch at the same time! 3pm! Early lunch for me!

But got home heated my soup and its vile :(
So I had an emergency bowl of cereal I had nothing in except Marcus delicious smelling pasta and garlic bread.

But I did resist and feel great that I did!

I will have a sneaky peak at the scales tomorrow! I can't help it I can't resist! I need to see if they're moving!

Next one will be Monday and official wi will be tues! Xxx

I find telling myself when you can have it tomorrow really helps when I'm tempted bc actually I can! This is another reason I don't think I would do two in a row!

And I'm not sure I'd be very good with fasting on a non work day either!

Yes poor Kat let's hope she doesn't talk about food she may loose an arm hahah! X
 
Perhaps Kat should join in :) I've just been reading that its also meant to have benefits for arthritis - was in the alternative day diet book - but I'm making the assumption that the benefits would also be present in the 5:2 method as that's what that book indicates ?

Joining in would be better than loosing an arm :) lol

If you weigh after your fast, and then again after a day of none fasting would your weight go up? not being negative about it but just intrigued, as that's happened to me after being ill for a few weeks x

Yes if would. The fluctuations are supposed to be minimal though.

They advise to wi after. Fast day for obvious resons it'll be lower. But the general trend should be down whether its a fast or non fast day! So if your loosing each week after a fat day you'd too be loosing after you up days.

But I suppose the wi would be more consistent bc on up days you could be bloated retaining water etc etc whereas with a fast I suppose you wouldn't.

Previously there have been weeks where I've thought oh if I hadn't of eaten that for tea last night my loss would have been bigger as that bloats me etc so I won't have that any more so that'll be good!

But hopefully the general trend should be down! Xx
