Moonwatcher's JUDDD diary

Yeah well done :) I am just behind you a the moment with an up 6 over easter and down 2.2 after a down day. Fingers crossed it is down again after tomorrow :)

Looks like we are neck and neck then! Three cranberry and white chocolate cookies have just fallen on their swords though (for that read 'into my mouth') Looks like that will have to be my 'goodies' allowance for the day!

So food update for yesterday DD...

Tiny piece of the leftover cherry custard tart. A twelfth of the pie was 293 cals and I had a lot less than that, and took the crust off, so counted it as 150 cals

Dinner - 2 egg frittata with chorizo, tomatoes and asparagus, plus a sprinkling of cheese on top -335 cals.

Loads of water, black and green tea and one bottle of Lidl flavoured water -strawberry and kiwi.

Food comes in at 485 cals, the Lidl water is 5 cals, so I am calling that a successful DD.

Today's UP day consumption so far:

Breakfast - 2 pieces Warburton's fruit loaf with orange, lightly buttered

Snacks - 2 coffees with cream and 3 cranberry and white choc cookies (at least the packet is empty now!)

Lunch - just about to have a bowl of home-made broccoli and cheese soup with a chunk of home-made olive and herb bread.

Dinner tonight will be a Lamb and chickpea tagine from this book, which I got for some down day recipes, but this looked tasty enough for an up day too!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AQ3CAD6/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

I think I've mentioned it before - nice little book with some tasty recipes for down days. I'll make 4 portions -2 for tonight with potatoes and some more veg, and two for the freezer for a quick down day meal.

Hoping to resist more nibbles and goodies.

Food sounds lovely and huge well done for sticking with the DD yesterday when the scales were playing up so easily. I quite understand the "sod it" mentality, I've been back on WW all week, only using half of my weeklies and have earnt 13 AP and the scales are going up rather than down two days before weigh in. Toys were definitely poised for throwing this morning but a stubborn streak kicked in first. I think sometimes the most important bit of sticking to plan is not giving ourselves amunition to beat ouselves up about later.

Glad the scales were being more cooperative in the end for official weigh-in. Still sounds like something might be up with the gain though, the idea of eating more or less of something certainly sounds worth investigating.

I think you're right there Atomic - it is so easy to cave in and then berate ourselves later for our weakness. The main thing that was different over Easter was more chocolate than usual, and more alcohol... Neither in excess really, but then as Lanarkwitch says, it can be something that is not necessarily high calorie, or off plan, but just something you are sensitive to.

I'll keep going and an changing my WI back to Saturday, plus I am going to check the scales each day to see if I can spot any pattern connected to any particular foods. I do know that pasta bloats me for about three day, but that wasn't the culprit this time.

Slight changes to planned food for tonight as we had some more of the olive and herb bread with the lamb tagine instead of potatoes. The tagine was very good - so good that a slightly larger portion than originally planned found its way into the bowl!

Before dinner we had to go out to collect a futon, so we stopped off at the coast at Wells for a quick walk. The ice creams were easy to resist in the freezing cold temperature. The award winning chips were more difficult, but we settled for a white hot chocolate at the tapas bar, and drooled over the tapas menu. It's nice to know I can go back another time and enjoy the tapas guilt free.

A strange conversation took place as we got back in the van though...

OH: There are a couple of chocolate bars here. Do you want one?

ME:No thanks, I don't want to spoil my tea, and the white chocolate drink was enough chocolate for now.

I have heard talk of these strange ideas, but always thought they were myths from a land far, far from here!

DD today. Several cups of tea and glasses of water in so far. A quick rummage in the freezer has produced today's menu:

Lunch: Home-made lentil, tomato and lemon juice soup (120 cals)

Tonight: Smoked mackerel fillet with skinny butternut squash 'fries', peppered cabbage and horseradish mayo (358 cals)

Milk in the first tea of the day only - 15 cals

Total calories 493

Think the daily weigh in is a great idea then you can hopefully pinpoint any trigger. So admire you for keeping going even when the scales aren't cooperating, shows true strength xx

Awww thank you. This forum and everyone's help and encouragement has definitely been a huge part of keeping going.

Forgot to say earlier that scales this morning were up 0.8 of a pound. Very OK with that after yesterday's UD as I often gain 2 lbs after an UD. Trying to not get too optimistic for WI tomorrow, but really hoping to see that 0.8 and a bit more gone after today's DD.

Thanks Frona. I am busy drinking loads of water to try and flush it all away!

Tea tonight was really delicious. Got some horseradish mayo left and am planning some sort of salad with it tomorrow, also including beetroot, couscous, hummus, halloumi, avocado, tomatoes, red onion and chilli. I will be making it up as I go along, but that is the basics! Not sure yet what else we are having tomorrow - maybe sausages. Sunday will probably be steak and kidney pie with gravy etc., and a small bread and butter pudding made with the rest of the Warburton's fruit loaf.

Had a very, very lazy day today - reading, watching TV, cooking and eating just about covers it!

Started the 30 day squat challenge yesterday. Well sort of started it a few days ago, because it starts with 50 squats and I thought I ought to ease into it a bit more gently. I have built up from 20 to 50, so my official start day was yesterday. Got 55 to do for today in a few minutes time.

Scales at WI this morning say 15 st exactly, so that is 4 of those pesky pounds gone since Wednesday. That makes my total Easter gain a much more respectable 2 lbs, and puts the 14s in touching distance again!

I need to get stuck into some washing, ironing and housework soon, especially the washing and ironing as OH is back to work on Monday and will fit in much better with his colleagues if he has some clothes to wear! I'd much rather carry on lazing around and drinking coffee though!

Been hanging around in the house waiting for my new halogen oven to be delivered. Just been online and it says it was delivered at 12.13. Not to us it wasn't! We are not that easy to find, so I always put detailed delivery details on every order, including the fact that we are a bungalow. It has probably been left at the house up the road, which is where our parcels usually end up in total disregard of my instructions. It is supposed to be signed for delivery too, so not sure how they work that one out, as the couple that live there would just redirect them to us, unless they were not in, in which case who signed for it. The annoying thing is we put off going out to the coast waiting for it. If they had delivered it to the right p.lace we could have gone this afternoon.OH is just about to go on a parcel hunt.

Did the parcel turn up? I hate it when they do things like that. I had huge problems with something I ordered for OH's birthday last year. It ended up having to be re-sent 3 times because they kept losing it. In the end the sent it super-tracked and it was showing as delivered and with the name of the person who signed for it. Turned out it was someone that lives on the other side of the close but the address label had practically come off and they didn't know which house it was for so were waiting for someone to ask for it, only the courier hadn't left me a card or anything saying where it was. Grumble.

Really glad the scales were more cooperative for weigh in this morning :) A much better result than mid week.

I have also found myself having the sort of conversations I had previously only heard of. I think my most frequent one is "would you like a pint?" "No I would like a diet coke please". And actually meaning it!

And what is this squat challenge you are doing? I am not a fan of squats at all but they are far too popular with the instructors at the gym so I do far more than I would like in a week!

They had left it at the house up the road, so obviously totally ignored my very detailed instructions of how to get to us. Not only that but they had left it on their front door step, in full view of the road and potentially open to the rain. Obviously no signature! Fortunately we are in a very low crime area, but that isn't really the point. Anyway it is unpacked and currently cooking sausages for our supper!

The squat challenge - there is a thread on here somewhere about it, or if you search on google you'll find lots of info about it. Basically you start with 50 on the first day and build up over a month to over 200.

Food today:

Breakfast - one cinnamon bagel with cream cheese and honey

Lunch - a greek style platter of hummus, pan fried halloumi, stuffed green and black kalamata olives, chopped pickled chilli, baby plum tomatoes, beetroot, avocado and horseradish mayo, with a warm crispy roll (one and a half crispy rolls actually!)

Snacks and drinks - one coffee with cream, several earl grey teas of various flavours, water, NAS squash, half a glass of cider, two small glasses of Aldi's cream lemon liqueur. (OH didn't like it, so had to have his too) One small cream doughnut that I found in the freezer.

Had lunch very late, so will be having a supper of two sausages with jack daniels bbq sauce, a piece of chilli cheese, pickled onions, a couple of dried apricots and dates, maybe a couple of satsumas to follow. A weird combination I know, but just what I fancy!

That's really annoying about the parcel but at least you got it in the end. Were the sausages better cooked in it? Or is it just a case of more convenient and lower energy use with a halogen oven?

Food sounds lovely for yesterday, like the sound of the lunch especially. The lemon cream liquer sounds interesting, is it sort of like a cross between limencello and baileys? I am not really a fan of creamy drinks but I reckon that would be really good for cooking with. For lemon cheese cake especially. Or poured over a chocolate fondant. Mmmmmm. Aldi you say???
