MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

Saturday 19th January

WI today and have lost 2lbs. Pleased with that as it is the one pound I put on last week gone, and another one as well, to set me onto the 'losing the Christmas gain' path! Now standing at 15st 1lb. Would like the scales to show a 14 something next week again, if I can, although may not be moving much with this back, so we'll see.

Food so far has been a late, late breakfast of 2 crumpets with cream cheese and maple syrup, plus one choc digestive biscuit and a packet of worcester sauce crisps. Will update food diary properly later, but at the moment it is looking like a warburton's square wrap pizza and BNS wedges this evening.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your back and knee. Its horrible when you fall on the ice and hurt yourself because you tend to feel really "vulnerable" when you next have to go out on it. Hope things improve quickly but it definitely sounds like a day off or two from work (and having to walk on the ice) is in order. Give other people a chance to do their share.

Great news on the loss, 2lb is very good. Food looking delicious as usual. I like the sound of your chocolate coated ginger. I may have to investigate this at some point. Unfortunately what I immediately think when I hear dark chocolate and ginger is "flapjacks" after some scrummy flapjacks I made about a year ago with diced apricots, pumpkins seeds, stem ginger and dark chocolate and some of the ginger syrup mixed with the golden syrup to mix the oats. They were SO good they haunt my dreams! Maybe I need to plan on making them for myself as a birthday present next month...

Hope you are staying pleasantly warm and safe inside for the weekend.

Well I have texted my boss and warned her that I probably won't be in tomorrow, and will confirm in the morning. Still incredibly painful unless I am on my side in bed! Can shuffle around the house OK and can stand for a little while, but that's about it, so don't think I will be going in. Looking at the weather I think it's pretty likely we'll have another snow day tomorrow, so I don't feel too bad about not going in. It's snowing now and laying again.

Those flapjacks sound divine! If you do risk getting the recipe out again (!) I would love the recipe please if you don't mind.

Not the healthiest of week-ends apart from the swede soup!

I will try and look out the proper flapjack recipe for you but it was just the case of using a basic flapjack recipe and adding in the things I fancied so I am sure you could make it up yourself.

Sounds like a nice couple of chilled days at home, its a shame its enforced due to the fall but sounds like a tasty couple of days. Makes me fancy a crumpet! I have found there's been a real temptation to eat this weekend due to the weather so it sounds like you have done well. You seem to manage well with having one or two days where you use a fair few weeklies in one go then reigning it back in for the rest of the days.

Hope the injuries continue to improve and you manage to upgrade from "hobble"!

Right, I'll probably have a go with that combo then - sounds delicious! Although after the very 'nibbly' day I have had, I think I'll leave it for this week - don't need any more temptation if I am going to get through the week within my weeklies!

I am hobbling a bit faster - still very sore and stiff, but not quite as bad as yesterday. Today was another snow day at school in the end, and OH was off too as his van is effectively snowed in. We have only heard one vehicle go past the house today, and that was the local farmer's tractor!

I have had a very undisciplined day though - good job it is nearer the beginning of the week. Yep, I often use up more weeklies over the weekend and earlier in the week and then cut them down for the rest of the week. So, food for today...

Monday 21st January

Late breakfast -
one and a half slices w/m toast with butter and marmite (6PP)

Lunch - also very late - small amount of yesterday's leftover curried swede and apple soup, with some cooked mixed beans mixed in to bulk it out, 3 mini sausage rolls, slice of Mcvitie's ginger cake, one pear, chopped preserved stem ginger, 2 tspns double cream (15PP)

Later/Snack
- (doesn't really count as dinner) - toasted muffin with 1oz cheddar, 2oz mixed fruit and nuts, one ginger nut biscuit (15PP)

Drinks -
one coffee with cream, half small glass whole milk, NAS squash, 2 earl grey teas (5PP)

Totals for the day - 41PP, 28 dailies and 13 weeklies
Weeklies remaining 15!
APs none again because of the back - not even my usual walk.

OH is off again tomorrow and I think I probably will be too, so it could be another un-disciplined day. I definitely nibble more when he is at home, and am much less organised with proper meals. Not only that, but today I really couldn't be bothered to move around in pain, so I took the easy way out with my food choices. I need to be more organised tomorrow - the plan is...

Breakfast - muffin with?? - possibly cream cheese, maybe fried egg

Lunch - not sure on this one yet - perhaps soup, perhaps a sarni, perhaps egg on toast if I don't have egg for breakfast.

Dinner - I have some nice pork slices in the fridge which are destined to be rubbed with a spice mix, grilled/roasted in the halogen oven and then served with caramelised onions, apple slices roasted with cinnamon and nutmeg, and some lightly melted camembert, all piled on top, plus some spicy butternut squash wedges!

Aww sorry to hear you hurt your leg. Hope the hobbling subsides soon! I understand what your saying about when your OH is home you nibble more. I be the very same, but trying hard to change that habbit for us both lol.

Was much more organised today, but he is such a nibbler himself, so it can make it tough!

Tuesday 22nd January

Breakfast
- toasted muffin with cream cheese and maple syrup (7PP)

Lunch - big bowl of home-made vegetable soup (0PP) 1oz mixed fruit and nuts (3PP)

Dinner - roast pork steak with butternut squash wedges, apple slices fried with cinnamon and nutmeg, crumbled stilton and goats cheese and caramelised onions, tomatoes, followed by a slice of Mcvitie's ginger cake with stewed plums in a little sugar and ginger, half a scoop of cornish ice-cream (18PP)

Snacks - 3/4 oz cheese savoury biscuits (3PP)

Drinks - NAS squash, one coffee with cream, water, one earl grey tea with a splash (2PP)

Totals - 33PP, 28 dailies and 5 weeklies
Weeklies remaining - 10
No APs earned again. Realistically I might gain a few for walking to and from work tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, but not enough to make much of a difference to the week

Back and knee both a lot better today. Back is still stiff, but nothing like as sore, so I shall probably be back to work tomorrow. We've had a big thaw of the snow, so that should make the walk in a bit easier. We're both still coughing with this (whooping?) cough. Could be another 2 months yet before it disappears apparently, which is a bit of a pain when it comes to exercising. Once the stiffness has gone a bit more from my back I'm going to start upping the exercise gradually and see if it sets the coughing off badly again or not. I am missing the exercise to be honest - never thought I would be saying that!

Wednesday 23rd January

I decided not to go into work Wednesday after all - I was still really sore and stiff, and several bouts of coughing in the night didn't help with that either! As a lot of my working day involves man-handling a chair/wheelchair into position and up and down for a pupil I didn't feel my back could take it yet. Food started off well, but had some nasty IBS twinges in the late afternoon, probably caused by the ripe banana and the veg soup in combo, although who knows - it makes up its own rules! So it was peppermint capsules and paracetamol for me for the early evening. Couldn't risk any more fruit or veg for the day as that would have aggravated it more. Several hours later when it had subsided, I was craving some junk food, so a Big Mac, purely medicinal, was in order! Note to the universe - quit it with the cough/fall/IBS now please!

Breakfast
- toasted muffin with cream cheese and honey (8PP)

Lunch - vegetable soup, stilton, lettuce and mango chutney sandwich, banana (9PP)

Dinner -
Big Mac (13PP)

Snacks - none

Drinks - water, green tea with vanilla, NAS squash, one earl grey tea with a splash of milk, one coffee with cream (2PP)

Totals for the day - 32PP, 28 dailies and 4 weeklies
Weeklies remaining for the week - 6
APs - none

Thursday 24th January

Back to work today, very gingerly! The walk in was awful, as we have ice, and down the path I go on it is on top of thick mud! I was going so slowly I must have looked about twice my age, but I made it there, through the day and back in one piece.

Feeling a bit peeved today - was planning to do some pre birthday shopping this weekend, but now it looks like we're likely to get another 3-4 inches of snow tomorrow night! I couldn't go last week because of the snow and the fall, and now might not be able to go this week either! I desperately need some new clothes and have been putting it off since before Christmas. Now I have some money I can't get to the shops. Grrrrh!

Resisted the temptation to make it all better by eating(!) ;)

Breakfast - 2 pieces wholemeal toast, cream cheese and honey (7PP)

Lunch - sandwich from the canteen - ham and pickle wholemeal bread, one orange (6PP)

Not especially excited about my food up to this point in the day - the wholemeal bread was some I had in the freezer, but don't know what make as I had bagged it up in freezer bags. As bread goes, it was like cardboard! Although the meals from our canteen are very good the sandwich reminded me of why I usually take my own! It was hard going not to treat myself to something when I got home, but settled for my usual coffee and cream, and an early evening meal...

Dinner - sweet paprika roast veg and potatoes, chilli sausage and baked egg combo/hash - catchy name heh? Roasted some red and green pepper, tomatoes, butternut squash and potatoes in some olive oil and sweet paprika/herbs, with two butchers chilli sausages each on top, and then when nearly ready, made nests in the veg for an egg each to go back in the oven and bake. This was delicious, and made up for the rest of the day (13PP) followed by fresh pineapple and pear, with a little preserved stem ginger, fresh lime juice and a drizzle of cream (2PP)

Snacks - none

Drinks - one twinings rose garden tea with a splash of milk, water, NAS squash, one coffee and cream (2PP)

Totals for the day - 30PP, 28 dailies and 2 weeklies
Weeklies remaining - 4
APs- 2 for walking (may only have been one - not planning to use it/them anyway)

Hope the snow hasn't got in the way of your shopping in the end. I think its meant to have all thawed by tomorrow at least if you can get in to do some shopping then? The snow was also very unwelcome here as we were out for OH's birthday last night and it was a very close call whether we were going to be able to get home with the car, thought we were going to have to walk several miles home at 2am :( Made it in the car but pretty hairy though, especially worrying when you are passing several cars that have been abandoned on main roads and roundabouts. It is amazing how totally this country shut down with a few inches of snow!

Food is sounding great as usual, and big well done for resisting the temptation of eating the disappointment away! The pork, caramelised onion and cheese dish sounds REALLY good, might have to nick that :)

Was it weigh in today? Hope it all went well.

We went shopping on Saturday in the end - we did have a little snow on Thursday, but not even an inch, and then we had rain on Saturday morning so that washed away quite a bit. We had a lot of rain overnight last night too, and just about all the snow has now gone. Yay!

Your journey sounds pretty horrendous! It is scary isn't it? Glad you got home safely.

WI was yesterday (Saturday) - lost one pound, which I was happy with, as I have done very little movement this week.

Not been on to update since Thursday, so will quickly go through one day at a time now...

Friday 25th January

Well what a day! From sex to Shakespeare, via improper Maths, music and recreational drugs! Hah! Now I have your attention, it was Year 7 biology which of course involved 'S E X,' with sniggering 11 year old boys and mock-shock 11 year old girls! Then improper fractions in Maths, lovely one-to-one music lesson, recreational drugs in Science (theory, not practice!) and finally physical theatre of Twelfth Night. All in a day's work!

On to the food...

Breakfast
- 2 pieces tiger bread with cream cheese and maple syrup (7PP)

Lunch
- tuna and salad cream sandwich, cherry tomatoes, golden delicious apple (6PP)

Dinner - fell asleep when I got home and woke up at 9.45pm! OH went down chinese for a takeawy - had about a third of a portion of chow mein and two pork ribs - guessing 17PP

Drinks - one coffee and cream (2PP), water, NAS squash, not enough liquid today by a long way

Snacks - none

Totals for the day - 32PP, 28 dailies and 4 weeklies
No weeklies left
APs - one for walking in and out of work - 3APs in total this week.
