MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

So the plan for the afternoon is to pop out to the coast for a walk. Will find somewhere to eat too. Should be doing housework and gardening really, but just not in the mood. Better take waterproofs because it has just started raining here!

Enjoy your walk! Hope it stays dry while your out!Weather is nice here today for a change

Hope you managed to stay dry on your walk and find some yummies.

Sounds like a really nice couple of days. The fishcakes and ice cream sound like real highlights. If really would have been rude not to have the ice cream.

I have very fond memories of Thetford forest and going for weekend walks there when i was a kid :) I still have a tiny tiny acorn I found there when I was 6 (rather more years ago than I would care to admit), its literally about 1/2 cm big.

And there is no "should" be doing housework when on holiday. Enjoy yourself!

Kangaroo? Now that's something I'd love to try what's it like?

Do you have Lidl where you are? I got some frozen Kangaroo steaks in there last week! My daughter tried it, when we went to an Outback in Cornwall last year and she loved it. I couldn't bring myself to eat Skippy lol x

'What's that Skippy? Your sister's in the freezer?'

Tuesday 30th July

Well I am still within my weekly points so far, although had a lot of goodies yesterday. Scales today are up by 2 pounds, but I think that is partly bloating and possibly partly because I have used up all my weeklies over the last 3-4 days. Not sure why else it would be. We have an afternoon tea this afternoon, already paid for, so this will be my 'last supper' type of day for wheat/gluten.

We were going to go for the tea in a couple of weeks, but I don't want to drop the wheat for a fortnight and then re-introduce it again. In two weeks I am hoping I will really begin to notice a difference with the symptoms, so it would be silly to then go out for sandwiches, cakes and scones! I am just going to enjoy it today. It may take me over my points, but to be honest until I kick the grains into touch I think I will be all over the place with the poundage! It is also most likely to be the last of its kind for me. Looking forward to getting rid of the bloating and pain, plus quite possibly the sinus problems, headaches/migraines and some other niggles.

Anyway, food for yesterday:

Breakfast - one Nakd cocoa bar and 2 gluten free ginger oat biscuits (going to cut these out too - although in the past I have been able to tolerate oats better, it looks like these are affecting me now as well. :( ) (5PP)

At the coast - ham, egg, chips and peas with a sausage, one medium latte, one gluten free sticky toffee brownie with a cup of earl grey, one scoop of ice-cream (asked for half a scoop each of two flavours, which they don't normally do, but as we are 'regulars'... !) - half cherry, half raspberry and white choc, with a diet coke (27PP)

Other snacks and drinks - out and at home - one pack of Crusti croc crisps, (4PP), 4 coconut mushrooms (4PP) greengages, plums, grapes, one coffee with cream (2PP)

Did somehow manage to fit in a nice bit of walking amongst all that eating, including a mad dash back to the tea rooms when we realised we had walked out without paying! The owner was amazed that we had gone back, which I found a bit sad. Sign of the times, I suppose.

Totals = 42 PP, 29 dailies and 13 weeklies. Weeklies remaining 3. Hmmm - we shall see!

That sounds like a heavenly lunch :) I almost want to lick the screen just reading about it! Can't decide what bit sounds best to be honest.

Very sad that the owners were surprised you went back to pay. Makes you wonder how often that happens to them :( And I suspect with a small food business like this sounds like there isn't much margin for error with the profits these days.

Food sounds delish esp the icecream
Hope you had a fab day

It was delicious - spread out over several hours in three different places - first the ham etc with coffee, then a walk followed by the brownie and tea, then another walk followed by the ice-cream, then another walk! It was the tea and cake place we had to go back to. I suppose they get people who don't pay on purpose too. I was saying to OH 'If they're closed up, bang on the door to get their attention.' If they had gone I would have had to go back first thing today!

Yes thanks, it was a lovely day and not too hot either, so very relaxed as well.

Right, last day of wheat for a while at least. I haven't counted points today, but have definitely used all my weeklies and more! Aiming to keep to dailies or fractionally more each day for tomorrow and Friday.

So a quick round up of today's food:

Breakfast - one Nakd bar and a coffee and cream

Afternoon Tea - glass of Prosecco, earl grey tea, finger sarnis - ham, cheese and tomato, turkey and cranberry sauce, tiny square of lemon drizzle cake, one scone with butter, cream and jam, one bite of the chocolate cake

Dinner at a sea-side tapas bar - tapas of deep fried brie with apple and ale chutney, garlic and chilli baked mini sausages, bacon and cheese potato skins, mini ribs, duck with balsamic and sesame dressing, mini meatballs in chilli sauce, guacamole, ham and chorizo platter, chilli dipping oil, ciabatta and butter, one glass of BlackBerry and Elderflower Pimms Royale.

I was disappointed with the afternoon tea tbh. The sarnis were on cheap bread and the scones were a bit like the 10 for a pound special packs I can get at our local Spar! OK, but nothing special. The lemon drizzle cake was delicious though.

The tapas later was pretty darned good - eaten in a covered courtyard listening to the rain on the roof - added a nice touch of Britishness! LOL!

Am now suffering the effects of the breads and cakes though, so plenty of resolve for tomorrow.

and the OH getting arty with a mini harvest from the garden. After all this rain there will be more to come this week!

Morning! Right, day one of Operation Wheat Free. I hadn't thought about it, but today is August 1st, which feels quite 'right' somehow - I do like tidy dates for starting things!

Feel so bloated, tired, achy, and uncomfortable after yesterday's indulgences, so not before time. Scales are also up again this morning - I have now 'gained' 3.6 pounds this week - but I know some of it is wheat bloat, so will just go with it and see what the next few days bring. Greek yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup for breakfast with a coffee and cream. Not planned the rest if the day's food yet, but will be staying at home today with lots to do, so staying in points should be OK.

Tapas looks fab! The gain will go After a few days of wheat free

Yep, hope it will toddle off back where it came from! The tapas was great. We have been planning to go there for a while, so as the afternoon tea was a bit disappointing, we decided to treat ourselves last night.

Thursday August 1st

Well ladies (and gentlemen - in case there are any lurking) I won't lie - today has been tough. Not tough in an eating way, but tough in about how I feel about it. Although I am resolved to tackle the wheat issue, it has left me feeling fed up about the whole situation. I have spent years battling various quite debilitating gynaecological issues and now I am old enough for them to have gone, which has improved my quality of life no end, now I have to re-write my rule book with other restrictions!

I definitely have to take action, as this has worsened so much in the last month or two, that ignoring it is not an option. I have spent some time today reading around the web, as you do, and just hope that my plan of 'almost total elimination' (so far the odd stock cube and sprinkle of sauce for instance, have not been a problem) will be enough.

From the reading I have done, I think I may fall into the category of 'Non Coeliac Gluten Sensitivity' or NCGS for short, or maybe I don't! It appears that to be tested for actual coeliac disease I would have to continue to eat the stuff, which feeling how I do after yesterday I can't face at the moment, and to be honest I don't think an actual diagnoses either way would make a huge difference. I know that cutting it out of my diet does make a huge difference though, and I know that each time I slip back to it is worse! The web is full of reports of people who have tested negative, but where the proof of the pudding has been in the (not) eating.

Don't mind admitting that I find it a bit over whelming, in a way that I have never felt with any other way of eating. I suppose because this is less of a choice, and although there are pages and pages of info out there, there is no one size fits all!

I have written this out so that hopefully in a month or so, when I am feeling the benefits and feel great, I can look back to this as a point of reference.

At the moment the pounds have taken a back seat to this, which is very unusual for me!

Tapas does look gorgeous, although so does OH's "arty" harvest. Love the yellow courgettes and red spring onions :)

Really hope operation wheat free helps, the gain this week rather supports that it might need to be done but know its never easy giving up something you enjoy.
