MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

Found you too. I want the tapas now!

Hi LB. They were really, really good - when they brought them out I thought we'd over ordered and wouldn't manage it all. We did though - paced ourselves! LOL.

Tapas does look gorgeous, although so does OH's "arty" harvest. Love the yellow courgettes and red spring onions :)

Really hope operation wheat free helps, the gain this week rather supports that it might need to be done but know its never easy giving up something you enjoy.

Yes the yellow courgettes are so cute! I like growing anything that is a different colour, shape or size to the norm!

To be honest Atomic, it isn't giving up the 'main' items that bothers me - there are other options for breads and pasta for instance, and some of them are pretty good. It's the smaller less obvious things that I don't want to get wrong. I *think* I'm OK with those kind of things, but am aware that could change and become more of an issue, as the problem itself has already got worse over time - if that makes sense? I'm not looking forward to constant label checking and as you know, we like to eat out, which *could* become a problem. I like to know what I'm up against - sort of what the bottom line is - and this is a bit of an unknown. Wheat and the other problem grains are in so many non-obvious things - I was checking the ice-cream from the freezer tonight in case it had a wheat based thickener in it!

Having said all that I know it could be a lot worse, and it is just a case of getting on with it. I am expecting / hoping to feel so much better that it will all be worth it, and if it turns out I do have to ditch sauces, oxos etc, well, so be it, when it comes to being healthy - short term and long term.

Food for today Thursday August 1st

Breakfast - Greek yogurt with maple syrup (5PP)

Lunch - bacon butty with 2 pieces gluten free bread and 3 rashers bacon, squirt of HP (10PP)

Dinner - red onion, tuna, potato and cheese bake with a few black olives, huge tropical fruit salad (pineapple, mango, persimmon, apricot and home-grown raspberries) with a spoonful of vanilla ice-cream (11PP)

Drinks - water, diet Pepsi max, 2 coffees with cream (4PP), milk in earl grey and vanilla chai teas (1PP)

Total for today - 31PP - 2 over my dailies, but have used up all my weeklies and more on tapas last night anyway. As long as I can get through to Saturday and the start of the new week, without going crazy, then I'll be happy.

Atrocious weather here today. It has been thundering and lightning since about 10.30, almost non stop. Keep telling myself it is good for the garden. It doesn't make its way into the tubs and baskets though - will still have to do them by hand later - hopefully not in the pouring rain!

Ah, pants to the weather. At least you've got a nice long period of time off so some of the weather has to be good!

I rather enjoyed our extremely thundery and wet day when I was on holiday. It was all cosy and refreshing. Love a good thunderstorm. There were some fairly horrendeous floods in Nottingham though. Even bits of the city centre were foot deep in water! Glad I live at the top of a moderate hill when the weather is like that.

Any plans for the weekend? When is OH back at work?

It was actually quite fun to watch, propped up with cushions and cup of tea in hand! I have been extremely tired today so have been very lazy. Some weird aches and pains and things too, which, together with the tiredness, apparently can be quite a common part of wheat withdrawal! I did get similar things a couple of months ago when I gave it up, but didn't make the connection at the time. Tingly toes, painful joints - who'd have thought it? So aimed my activity levels very low today - reading, cooking, eating - just about covers it!

OH has another week off, then he is back in for a week, then another fortnight off. Very carefully planned to give me some total 'me time' in the middle and at the end!

Not sure what we will do this weekend, apart from 'fumigating' the house! Purdy has just had her flea treatment, but the OH insists he saw a live one on his foot in the hall today. His eyesight isn't that good and I haven't seen any, but not taking any chances. Yuk!

That made me laugh!! x Started a new diary over in JUDDD...back to fasting after my disastrous attempt at SW. Had my old diary deleted as felt it was time for a fresh start. Hope WW does the trick for you and the cutting out of wheat. I'll have my fingers crossed xx :)

I lost my first stone on SW, but much prefer WW. Some people do really well on SW and love it, but it's down to finding what works best for each of us isn't it? I know WW will do it for me if I stick with it - not as fast as I'd like, but then that's just something to accept. I feel I've messed around with the last few months, got it out of my system, and can now get on with it. Good luck with JUDDD - will pop over and find your diary in a mo.

Total for today 29PP. WI tomorrow and new week of points!

Saturday 3rd August

Well, WI this morning is 15st 6lbs, so that is a gain this week of 1.6 lbs. :( I was over my points, although I wouldn't have though by enough for a gain, but my body is all over the place this week. It did go up mid week to 15st 8.4lbs, so going back in the right direction again anyway.Even had some physical PMT symptoms this week - not had to think about that for almost a couple of years now, so obviously a lot going on with hormones etc., possibly connected to the wheat, possibly not.

Anyway, New week, New weeklies!

As you said your body has been all over the place with the wheat so think its best to ignore this weigh in. You weren't far enough over points to gain 1.6lbs so clearly something else going on. Fingers crossed things will have settled for next week. And new weeklies = yay!

Your soup looks lovely and really intrigued by all the combinations in the stirfry dinner. All things I love the sound of but not necessarily thinngs i would put together but looks really good :)

I can definitely recommend the chipotle and coconut combo! The Philly and harissa were just a dressing on top, but they complemented it very well.

Yummy looking day. I love sausages and sweet potato mash. I sometimes do a sausage stew with chorizo, fennel and passatta and serve it with sweet potato or bns mash. Think i might have to slot that in this week some time actually thinking about it. Interesting salad too. I bought some avocado last week as a good healthy way to use some of my reset calories but haven't gotten around to using them yet. I'm a bit awkward about avocado sometimes, it has to be just the right degree of ripe or else i get a bit put off.

Hi, just subscribing, read quite a bit of your food diary last night. I love your food choices, would love to try some of your curries :)

Hi and welcome Candygirl. If you ever want any recipes for something I post then just ask. I do make a lot of it up as I go along, so sometimes amounts of certain things may be a bit vague, same with my cooking times - they usually say things like 'around 180° - 200° for about 20 - 30 minutes, until it is done!'

I love avocados and I think 4PP for a half is pretty reasonable, especially as they are a 'good' fat choice! I know what you mean about the ripeness though - no flavour in an under ripe one, too ripe and they are black, although OK to eat, but not very appetising on the plate!

Mine dont even make the plate I eat them outa the skin hehe

Hehe, I have been known to do that too - lovely with a squirt of mayo and lemon juice. The hole is the middle is ready made for it!

Wasn't going to post this until after tomorrow, but have decided to go ahead and post it in case anyone has any knowledge/input. It turns out my PMT type symptoms were exactly that - TOTM, although in this case it is TOTY (time of two years!) Definitely wasn't expecting that after two years of nothing, so now I have to contact the surgery tomorrow, as my previous Doctor advised me I should if that ever happened, especially with my gynaecological history. Switching between thinking the worst about what it could mean, and then being sensible and telling myself it is probably nothing, more common than people realise etc., etc. Will ring surgery in the morning for a triage call and take it from there.
