Hey MW! What a Fab Weekend you've had! I'm loving the sound of all your Chaity Shop Bargains, between those, Poundland and Coop you've done really well, very productive! Good News about the Honey Nut, used to be a reasonable favourite of mine but I'm currently banned from buying boxes of cereal :-( So my indulging will have to wait till I'm staying in a Premier Inn and I can enjoy a little box! X
I think I am going to come and stay with you for next weekend, Moonwatcher... Your weekends always sound so much fun!
Finishing the reset in 3 weeks time would definitely fit pretty well with getting a good chunk of "deficit" weeks in before the Christmas madness begins, but possibly still worth keeping a slightly open mind to it.
It was a great weekend and because we didn't have the lamb stew yesterday it was ready made for tonight's dinner. I still needed a few things so popped out to Tesco after work as I *needed* some halloumi and chorizo. While there I realised I needed some cheddar with Scotch Bonnet chillies too! Picked up a gf loaf for a third of the normal price on the discount tray. some reduced frozen fruits (mixed berries and blueberries), two reduced fresh fruit salads and some reduced veg. I seemed to reach the checkout with a trolley full - not sure how that happened! LOL. Will update with today's food in a moment, once I have checked calories etc.
If you're quick, Tesco are doing 3 for £5 but the Offer ends tomorrow ;-) x
Ooooo Reductions Galore! My kind of shopping ;-) I love a Yellow Sticker, it sends me weak at the knees! X
Oooh sounds very tempting! I went into Tesco tonight, but it isn't a huge store and they didn't have them at all. I may see if the OH has a chance to pop into one while he is out tomorrow.
Me too. My freezers often look like yellow sticker city!
Fingers Crossed! It'll be a Race against time ;-) Although I just checked and they are 3 for £5 in Asda too so maybe y could get there at a later stage instead? X
I never buy Bread unless its reduced, it's such a rip off otherwise! X
Oh thanks - I may try Asda in a day or two then. Tomorrow isn't the best day as we have a meeting after school which not only makes me later home, but is often a bit fraught (not the meeting itself, but some of the stuff we discuss), so afterwards I want to get in and chill.
The gluten free bread especially is so expensive - I have seen it for £3.60 a small sliced loaf! Now I have got into the gf routine I always pick it up if I see it on the discount rack and freeze it until I need it. I won't pay the full price for it - if I run out will make my own or manage without!
OMG £3.60 for a Loaf :-0 I thought £1.60 was bad enough! OMG! Hope your Meeting is ok tomorrow. Asda are the only Store who don't give Promo End Date (It's so they can pull them as and when they like depending on sales/availability/demand), it's so irritating as I can't plan my Shopping appropriately! X
How were the GF Honey Nut? X I'm intrigued by the Chilli Cheese, never seen that in the Tesco by me! X
The Honey Nut Flakes were delicious - very impressed. I'd not seen the scotch bonnet cheese before either, although we do like the mexicana. It is not as hot as I was expecting, but a nice texture - firm but creamy at the same time. We will be having some in a little while on our chilli pasta bake.
Yes, sort of, It is just leftover chilli (or spag bol sauce) mixed with cooked pasta and topped with cheese, then baked until heated through and the cheese bubbling. It's a good way of getting another meal out of some leftovers! We didn't have it tonight in the end though. OH had been eating all day and wasn't hungry, so I had half the chilli on a jacket potato with the scotch bonnet cheddar grated on top. I think that makes three lots of chilli on a jacket over the last week, but I have changed the cheese variety each time!
OMG! I'd NEVER have thought of making that! I'm so making that when I take my Chilli 'Ready Meal' our of the Freezer! Thanks for the idea MW! Popsicle can't stand Jacket Potatoes but she loves loves loves Pasta! X
It's very good, and one of those great meals that you can adapt to use whatever cheese/veg/sauce you have in the house.
Is it really only Tuesday? I am absolutely shattered - do you know what I mean when I say I'm tired right down to my stomach? Thought it was an odd thing to say tbh, but they all seemed to know what I meant at school today! The kids are all getting the 'nearly holiday' twitches, and one of 'our' SEN pupils has a very difficult few months ahead, so all in all I am knackered.
Anyway, food for today, Tuesday 22nd October
Breakfast - gluten free honey nut cornflakes with milk, coffee with cream
Mid morning - piece of home made gluten free quiche, coffee with milk
Lunch - four gluten free corn crispbread with Tesco chicken and chorizo pâté, half a Tesco pineapple, mango, kiwi and grape fruit salad, tea with milk
At home after school - mini salami stick, curly wurly, tea with milk
Dinner - small jacket potato with chilli and grated scotch bonnet cheddar, half an ounce of tortilla chips,
Soon - two mini meringue nests with the other half of the fruit salad, a tablespoon of greek yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup
During the evening - six pieces of dark choc coated ginger (had four already, two still to come)
Water
Half a glass of cider on the go at the moment with a Midsomer Murders repeat on the TV. Tomorrow will be Poirot and Pizza night!
I will definitely make it and report back! I love Minimins for the new ideas it gives me x
Do you have to go into School over the Holidays? Poirot and Pizza sounds like a fab evening! Will that be a Homemade Creation? X
