Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Thats deffo the best option...they'll pick it up on your next blood test if theres a problem and in the meantime...if you did have low iron levels it would affect you rather than baby anyways...making you tired/lethargic etc :)
Thanks girls :)
lol I wont go into any detail about what harm I think too much iron can do as dont want to freak anyone out. X

Yes. Pls don't. Am happy to remain unaware :)
Am showing no signs n eating it where I can as well taking pregnacare so ill carry on doing as I'm doing. If anything changes, ill consider it then :)

Yeah, baby takes what baby needs. We just get the feeling crappy part!

Has anyone considered keeping babies stem cells from the cord? I've not researched it properly yet but just wondered what other opinions are x

Call me stupid... But what does that even mean???
I'll keep the little bit that falls off his/her bellybutton... But guessing that's not what you're talking about???

Hehe :p

It's when they take the stem cells from the cord and store them for years then if baby ever develops leukemia or other blood diseases they can be treated using them.

It's a big one off cost which is why we're still thinking about it.

Oh wow. Never knew such a thing existed. Will def look into that... May be a huge cost n hopefully will never need it but what a benefit it could potentially be....

It's a massive thing in America at the minute, I think, but I've not looked into it either. X

Yeah, it's not really something that gets mentioned over here? Have seen a fair bit about it on US websites though and I gather it's pretty pricy xxx

Wow! I'd never even heard of that before lol x

Hi ladies, please can I join? It's nice to read other people have the same concerns and I'm not bonkers (yet) lol xx

I'm giving my placenta to a project at my local hospital, So it can be used for sick children to help make them better, I would like to think eventually it would become mainstream to donate it rather than bin it, and if my child did need it another mother had donated x

Never heard of that but sounds a good idea. Would much rather something good be done with my placenta. Not like I'm going to take it home with me!

That's a lovely idea, it's not like we're gonna need it afterwards eh? Will have to see if my hospital does anything similar, would be well up for donating mine if so. xxx

Two sets of my friends have had it. It isn't cheap though. It's one of those things that you hope you'll never need, but if you do, then it's pretty priceless. We haven't really considered it yet... Maybe we should?!

I wasn't even sure you could have it done in this country - you just never hear about it on any of the UK pg websites. I agree though, worth looking into if you can afford it. xxx

Hi Shenzi, good to see you here! You are definitely not bonkers, just pregnant, and pregnancy does make us all a little bit crazy in one way or another (or a lot crazy if you're me!) ;) xxx

Whoops I read the sheet wrong they want a sample of it for research!

I'm a lot crazy at the minute lol

Still a good idea though, I'm all for donating to medical science if there's a chance it can help others :)
