What's an NCT sale???? I want one.... lol

NCT is the national child trust. I'm doing my antenatal classes through them. Separately they do loads of classes and events, and one thing is a nearly new sale where people sell toys, clothes and equipment which they no longer need for a reduced price. We have never been to one so will be interesting to see what state the stuff is in.

Look at NCT.org.uk and there maybe a sale near you x

Our next is the 23rd November, think I might have my driver ;) take me lol

I think this is your equivalent Frances, http://www.irishhealth.com/psg/mater4.html Cuidui -Irish Childbirth Trust

I've just completed an NCT course with my partner and I can honestly say we learnt all about what to do if things don't go to plan including caesareans, ventouse, forceps, inductions etc.

I was not made to feel as though a caesarean was a negative choice (course leader had had an emergency caesarean) and we even acted out what a caesarean would be like with all the people in the room so the mothers could see what they would be faced with if it happened so they could prepare for it as best you can.

That sounds really good. We start ours on Monday. Am excited and scared at the same time.

Hi girls x there's a "one born - what happened next" programme on in 15 on more4+1 (channel 139 on sky) if you fancy it xx

Quick question - WAXING! :) (and treatments in general)

I have been known to have a few "hollywoods" in my time but haven't really done much recently about the overgrown forest I'm sporting at the minute...sometimes I just give in and shave, but with a growing tummy and the fact I'm nackered - I really can't be bothered to spend ages trying to get rid of every little bit lol but I'm thinking that before the birth I'll take a trip to "hollywood" and get rid of the lot...is anyone else having a wax before your due date?

Also, what are your opinions girls of having "the works" done too? I know there are lots of women who will take a trip to the salon, have all their bits waxed, nails done, pedicures etc just before their due date? I get my nails/eyebrows done anyway, and the odd pedicure if I want to treat myself but I hadn't thought about trying to time it before I give birth... lol I know there are different opinions on this, like "you're not going to care what you'll look like when you're in labour - all your dignity goes out the door anyway" or "I want to at least try and feel the best I can for when the time does come when my dignity goes out the door!!" - So I was just wondering what you're thoughts are? :) xx

I considered the waxing but with the, erm, need for panty liners I don't fancy anyone having a mess down there so I think I'll just do a blind shave and hope for the best!
I know where you're coming from with wanting to look good so you feel good in labour. I've just put myself on a spending ban to make up for leaving work early so I won't be visiting the salon but I'll be keeping up to my nails. I'm not doing my toes, mainly because I can barely reach but also because I've been told if you need to go for an emergency c section or any other kind of op they use the skin under your nails as a guide to how you are. So I'll do my finger nails and just keep my toes tidy. I don't suit having proper done eyebrows so I just tweeze them myself after showers. Whether I'm being induced or go into labour spontaneously I'll wash my hair and straighten it before hospital because, even if I tie it up, it looks so much better straightened than frizzy!! Xx

I didn't know that about the skin under your nails! That's a good reason to keep them natural then.

I'm thinking of trying immac cream or something as shaving just doesn't work now I have a proper big bump and I hate being waxed. I do my own eyebrows so that's an easy one and my hair will be up in a headscarf for labour so am having it cut and my fringe trimmed in a couple of weeks and that will just have to do ;)

A few people have said it to me but I'm not sure if it's an old wives tale or not. Although when I went for my lap and dye they told me I wasn't allowed to wear jewellery or nail polish so may be true? Maybe I'll google it later x

Oh that's really good to know about the nails x

I was thinking of having my feet done - more because I have dreadful hard skin on my heels etc - through wearing heels! and I'd cringe if people saw them lol so it would be for that, rather than having a pretty pink on them or something lol. That said, I could always go for a "french" look if I did decide to have them painted, that way most of the nail is bare.

I would like to "feel" good, rather than look good. So I am tempted (If money is available) to have a few bits done, but it's more because it makes me feel better, rather than look better. I definitely think I'll sort out the lady bits and I'm even embarrassed for John to see it at the moment let alone anyone else lol :D and I will try and wash/blow-dry my hair before hand - even if I stick it up...

xx

I have never had down there waxed and apparently if you're gona have it done for labour.. Its recommended to have it done every 6 week from pretty much the start, to keep the pain minimal.. As there's so much extra blood rushing around down there, its FAR more sensitive/painful than when not pregnant..
I have decided i'm too much of a wimp to get waxed.. But have invested in a trimmer to keep it tidy...
Its not gona be perfect but i'll be happy in the knowledge its not completely overgrown..
Was gona try hair removal cream... but have heard a few horror stories about the new allergic reactions whle pregnant to that so I think I'm safest with my trimmer. LOL
I know people say "you won't care... so many will have seen it by that stage it matter.. la la la" But I will care!! I won't have hold on to as much dignity as possible and even if its just that down there was tidy when I went in, then so be it...
I get that the midwives and doctors have seen a million lady bits and don't even notice... But that doesn't make me feel any better about it...

Girls... does anyone know how MrsLMC (Laura) is?? She's been gone for 2 weeks and I'm a bit worried about her to be honest :(

I hope it's just because she's too busy for minis (at the end of the day, we all have lives other than minis) but just a little worried. Hope she's alright xx

I've never been waxed so think I will continue to blind shave lol
I'd like to think I'd maybe put my hair in a plait and maybe some tinted moisturiser as I'm conscious there will be photos soon afterwards that we'll have forever lol knowing me though I'll not care at the time!

She's been on my mind allot recently.. I sent her a PM of FB the other day but she's very rarely on there anyway, so have not heard back..
Hopefully its just she's too much on with having 2 LO's already and all is well...

I'm going to shave before hand .. I'm too much of a wimp to get a wax but I definitely will keep it tidy down there .
I will probably plait all my hair back out of my face and then tie it in a pony tail so it's not in the way while I'm getting all hot and sweaty pushing lol .. Il probably have my toenails done too just because it makes me feel better about myself and a bit of mascara and tinted moisturiser maybe xx

What's everyone's experience with maternity clothes like , have you found them true to size or do you find you need to go up/ down a size ?
My jeans are beginning to really dig in now and I'm feeling really uncomfortable
. I also have an Xmas party in December so was thinking of getting a maternity dress as I imagine il be a bit bigger by then .
I don't know whether to go with my normal size or not?
