Anyone else seen this..... http://news.sky.com/story/1167229/breastfeeding-new-mums-to-get-shop-vouchers It's actually made me fuming!!! I'm choosing not to breast feed but some people have no option and HAVE to bottle feed. Nothing like putting more pressure on people and making them feel guilty!!
Yeah saw that this morning :/ I can see what they're trying to do but it's not the right way to go about it IMO. And just more pressure and guilt trips for those who can't breastfeed

Hiya girls, I'm back the land of the minis. I'm trying to catch up but my god you girls can type ha!!
On the whole birth plan thing. I've never done one, I think its easy to get caught up on it and be disappointed if it doesn't go to the letter. I've always gone in with an open mind.
I would say though labour is not as painful as you think it will be. I promise you all, you are probably all imagining the worst pain in history, it won't be that bad!!!! Don't get me wrong, it is painful but not enough that you think you'll pass out or die. The best thing to do is just allow it to happen if that makes sense, stay calm, listen to the midwife and remember each contraction will pass and with each one you are closer to meeting your baby face to face.
I definately believe in staying as upright and mobile as possible, do whatever you feel comfortable with the midwife will work with you. I paced and bounced on the ball will I was having contractions (gas and air in hand), then when in the pushing phase I knelt on the bed with my daughter and stood at the side of a raised be with my son, my hubby stood at the other side to give me something to pull against, I got to catch my own son and see what he was all by myself, definately my favourite out of the two labours. Midwive was delighted, said the least involved she is the better. Hubby also said he felt useful during that labour and wasn't as worried about me as I seemed to 'have it all under control'.
I knew I was in labour both times for a good 12 hours before I went to the hospital so try not to worry too much about it coming on all of a sudden. My labour both started like period pains in my back. With my daughter I kept trying to go the toilet as I thought I needed a BM before I realised it was pressure of baby being fully engaged. I did not have a show with her, but my waters broke when I got to the hospital. With my son I started getting the pains in my back and had a bloody show. I rested throughout the night and went in once I had regular contractions ( I think 10mins apart, because I've an hours journey to the hospital).
I know each experience is different but thought I'd type this out and see if it helps. Please feel free to ask me any questions if you want and I'll try and answer if I can. But please believe labour won't be as bad as your imagination will lead you to believe!! I know I was really scared with my first, the second I was so calm they tried to send me home before they realised I was about 6 - 8cm dilated ha! xx
Dunno about anyone else but it certainly helps me.. Thanks hun..
So glad to have you back But I will need your mobile number if you need to leave again....

I don't really think ill have a birth plan but I think I'm going to note a few things down for Mike in case he has to be my advocate. Ideally id love a water birth but I know my BMI is too high, so my plan is to stay home as long as possible and use water as pain relief at home (I know baby could change this plan if something happens etc that means I have to go in to hospital) I would like to stay away from an epidural if I can and try with just gas and air. I've got a weird thing to ask the midwife but Mike is too squeamish to cut the cord and I really want to do it myself..... unsure if they would let me or if I'd be in a position to do it but worth asking. I also want skin to skin contact as soon as baby's born. Overall I'm going to go with the flow and see how I handle it.
I've also got mild cramps going on very low down?? Hubby is all concerned because he's just spoken to his mum and she seems to think it's a sign of bloody labour?!
Ring the PAU and see what they say, although I phoned last week with the same pain and they said it's more than likely everything stretching xx
