Pregnancy and Slimming World

Fern, my bump was huge in the first trimester, I also hadn't gained any weight, but sadly it did turn out to be just bloating as my bump was then smaller later on haha, probably the horrid pregnancy related constipation and trapped wind I kept getting lol. Either way, your bump will probably stay that way as your little bean grows into it ;). You are looking really well too.

Honeyoc - omg you look stunning. Pregnancy really suits you. I did LOL at your censored pic, fab!!

Here is my 24 week bump pic I took this morning with my ipod touch, normally hubby takes them for me, but I took one quickly this morning before popping out for the day, was the first day in the last week I actually felt up to going out, after suffering with this dreadful cold.

Oooh im intreguied to see what will happen to the 'bump' in the forthcoming weeks then!

i lurv your bump britmum! its so cute! you guys are both all baby!

lexi sorry to hear your having such a hard time! ((hugs)) x

Thanks Britmum, took long enough to get a pic up lol. I should take a proper one that actually looks like something from this century! Your belly is so little and so cute! I remember when I was 24 weeks, I had such a neat little bump... How things change!!

Awww Fern, sorry you're feeling sick. Go to a different room and eat some pineapple!

Awww all these bump pics are fab :)

I've not got one yet - sometimes think I have but then it's just my flab :) but am planning on keeping on losing weight till the baby really does start putting on weight for me :) - I do say planning as sometimes my planning doesn't work!

But the bump pics reminded me how much I enjoyed my bump when I was having my son. :)

It's not a hard time as such, she's just stressing me out today. Probably partly hormonal to top it off and being overly sensitive.

Should really finish moaning now :(

Definitely showing early!!! X

Just a heads up for those of you who like to put bits by for baby.

Sainsbury's have a 1/3 off all baby stuff. This includes nappies etc, but also includes cotton wool, ear buds, etc.

Well worth a look if you are like me and like to get a wee thing in here and there to stop the shock of the big baby shop when its time.

Ooooh thanks for that Lexiedog! I'm all set with everything else but I definitely need to stock up on nappies! One thing though, does anyone know if there's a difference in quality (absorbent power) between huggies and pampers? Or are they all the same?

Honey- I was reading a baby magazine "Pregnancy and Birth" January issue, and on page 88, they reviewed a host of nappies for newborns

They ranked them as follows

Huggies - 14p each - 4/5 score
Bamboo Nature - 18p each - 3.5/5 score
Boots - 11p each - 3.5/5 score
Asda - 8p each - 4/5
Tesco - 8p each - 3.5/5
Pampers - 15p each - 4/5
Nature Babycare - 11p each - 3.5/5
Sainsburys - 8p each - 5/5

Although the Sainsburys ones will work out cheaper - about £1.36 now for a pack of 24 newborn nappies.

Also if you are ging to buy the Pampers, but a pack of Sainsburys cheapies first, as when we bought the S'burys pack, we got printed a voucher for Pampers -2 packs for £3 or something, which is quite a saving. Don't quote me on the price I just now they did a voucher and I just shoved it into my purse.

Thanks Lexiedog, just been to Sainsbury's and I got several packs of huggies and pampers lol! Glad to know that they rank the same phew! I think because of the offer the shelves were a bit bare, especially for newborns so I bought 5 packs of size 1s and 6 of size 2s, those should last roughly 3 months no? I also got a few vouchers for £3 off my next purchase of pampers, valid until valentine's day :D

If anyone shops at Costco, they do a massive pack (150 in it I think) and they've currently got them on £14 off the original price of £22! DH and I are going on the weekend! I think we'll get size 3s lol. Do you think I'm going mad with nappies?!

On another note, went to see my midwife today and everything's great! The last time I was at an antenatal appt I was told my iron levels were low so I've been taking iron tablets and vitamin C and I'm happy to say that I'm up to where I should be!! The ideal is a count of 10.5 and I measured 10.9 :D glad to know the iron tablets are working! Baby's heartbeat was great, nice and fast, and she kicked the midwife when she was feeling my tummy LOL!! They also measured my bump and it was 33cm, is this good or bad? They never said....

I found the pampers one the best, especially for breastfed babies, as they have quite loose stools in the early days lol. I found huggies leaked and then ruined all the sleepsuits etc, as their is just no getting them poo stains out.

I'll be honest, nappies I have no idea what I'm doing. I bought a pack of 24 newborn nappies which I understand will last about 2 days, as babies need changed every 2 hours when newborn?

I am brave though. I'm trying washables. I have 3 as a trial pack, will get around to buying another 8 so I have a days supply. They have wee poppers on them and will do from birth to potty hopefully.

If I get on well, I'll buy another 12, apparently 24 should be enough to see you through, but just have to wait and see.

Its just I was reading average baby goes through 6000 nappies until toilet trained. Even at 8p per nappy, thats a lot of money!

To be honest - the nappy depends on the baby - think my son used to always leak out of pampers so we had to use huggies - until he got to size 2/3 when we switched to lidl - which i found were great - not to mention cheap.
My sister on the other hand had to use pampers with her daughter as huggies didn't work for her.
My son is now in Tesco own brand - hopefully not for much longer as we're trying to potty train him - so that I'll only be changing one child not two!
Still have about 4 months left so hopefully we'll get there before the baby arrives :)

Good luck to everyone and congrats on being so organised. I need to get everything for baby all over again as when we moved we gave all the stuff my son used away - I haven't started getting anything yet! Am sure it will all work out :)

LOL!! That made me laugh because I was thinking along the same lines too. My only experience with such things was with tampons/pads and I thought a pack a week would be fine LOL!! DH set me straight pretty quickly (he's the king of research lol)

I like all the bump pics! I'll have to get one of mine up soon. I haven't taken as many this time around as I did with my first. Will get hubby to get a good one later and see when I can post it!

Baby is still moving lots in there, it really hurts when he goes under my belly button but I think that's because I've got a deep one that never pops out. Pregnancy just makes it look like a cat bum! Ha ha!

I'm still eating badly although I've getting more fruit in and trying to eat better in general. My snacks do seem to be chocolate and crisps though and my weird craving has come back - sniffing lavender. I keep huffing at them gel air fresheners (the cheapy ones) that they have in the bathrooms here. It makes my mouth water although I'd never try to eat or lick one! Same thing with essential oil. I can sit and sniff the lid for ages and my mouth waters really bad. Need to go buy some parma violets, think it'll be the only way I can my fix safely!

I dont know if baby is having a growth spurt today or what, but I am SOOOOOOOO hungry, have been snacking of loads of fruit, but it isnt hitting the spot, argggggggggggh.

I am making up a big lasagne for dinner with whole wheat pasta, hopefully that will hit the spot. Good job we have no chocolate in the house as I would probably eat it all lol.

Oooh my belly bandit came today and I'm quite excited! I'm really chuffed that I fit into a size small lol. Apparently you're supposed to get it at your 8th month because your belly is going to be that big right after having your baby (??????) and it fit!! You're supposed to get a size smaller as your belly shrinks but I'm just going to stick some more velcro strips along it so I can tighten it as I go along. Definitely not spending another £65 on another one!! I got the bamboo one that supposed to be for C-section moms and it's really soft. Curious to see how it works out.

Hi everyone,

I'm really pleased to ask... can I join your little group?
I had a positive result this morning after having some odd symptoms this month, so I think I kinda knew...

Me and hubby are over the moon!!
I've booked my midwife appointment for the 10th Feb and will be reading and researching everything I can get my hands on before then!!
We had been TTC since I came off my pill in August, and have caught on my 4th cycle.

I'm so excited I can barely contain myself, so am sharing with my virtual friends lol!!

By my calculations, I am 4 weeks and 2 days
