Pregnancy and Slimming World

Hi Sarah83 congratulations!!! You sound so excited, it's wonderful! This is my first baby and I'm just a few weeks away from having her and I'm terrified! Welcome! :D

congratulations Sarah, fab news.

I had my OB/Gyn appointment on wednesday. Haven't gained anything since appointment 4 weeks prior, so that is fab. However BP was high :(, this happened with my son and I ended up in and out of hospital, so am hoping this is not going to be a repeat. I was rushing about quite a bit that morning, so am hoping it is that. Got to go back next week to have it rechecked.

Also got to have a blood sugar level test done at 28 weeks, because of my PCOS, luckily though I can eat and drink as normal, I just have to drink the horrid drink (wonder how many syns is in that?? lol).

Bump is getting big now and she is such a wriggler that it sometimes looks like an alien trying to escape from my bump. I tried to film her this morning with my ipod, but typical, she stopped as soon as I tried.

Hope everyone else is doing okay?

aww congrats Sarah , just out of interest what were your funny symptoms? i've had a couple of days with really sore nipples to the point where i've taken my piercing out lol boooohooo end of an era! It would have had to come out soon anyway. My period only lasted a couple of days as well................after the nipple incident i did a test but was negative :(

Thanks everyone!
My symptoms included a very sore lower back, sore boobs (to the sides), although that's not unusual for me, some soft shooting pains on the sides of my lower tummy. Also (mainly) some strange spotting - see my post in the 'general weight loss support/ trying to conceive' forum.
Good luck though hun.

Well it hasn't Really sunk in! I just hope it's real if you know what I mean - keep thinking it's like a dream! I've made an appointment for the midwife - it's not until the 10th february ... That's going to be a long couple of weeks!

Am I crazy to want to sign up for a cupcake masterclass 5 days before delivery? I really wanna!!!

Haha, yes you are! 5 days before, you mad woman. Mind you i LOVED my cupcake classes and it may help chill u out!!

I ended up back in hospital yesterday, id had a sore throat before i went to bed, then when i woke up it was really bad. But i felt fine within myself.. got to work, and then during the first class i knew somthing was right... started chucking up (despite taking my anti sickness pill) and then a rash came up over my face and eyes.. everything went blurry and the next thing i know im on a mat in the kitchen with someone talking about an ambulance and two mums who are doctors taking my pulse and stuff.

It was all quite scary but by the time i got to the hospital i was more or less okay, just very tired and nautious.. so they monitored me for an hour as my pulse was regular but weak and my blood sugar was far too low (although id had two bowls of coco pops for breakfast!) and then they sent me home. Got a txt from my boss saying one of the boys from my wednesday class has come out in chicken pox, so would have been contagious wed.. i have got some suspicious spots on my chest but no where else- iv already had chicken pox 4 times so il be peeved if i get it again. Im all gross and flemmy with a headache and generally stuffy :(

bloody pregnancy, im getting a bit fed up now! just as i start feeling better bang.. :(

Oh Fern what a run of it :( I wish I could give you some of my mojo, I've had nothing really. Big hugs and hope things even out for you after the 12 weeks mark when placenta kicks in.

Sarah - what wonderful news! So glad you got a BFP!

Honey - do you think you would feel like a class 5 days to go? If so then go for it!

BritMum - Hopefully your BP will be fine, and good luck for the Gluc Tolerance testing. .

Forgot to say - I rejoined SW on Weds there and weighed in a whopping 15 stone. Thats a gain of 11lbs in 10 weeks. Very unlike me. Am hoping it was a random water retention result because that amount of weight gain so early isnt healthy/

But since Thursday I've been sabotaged big style. Thursday me and MIL went for manicure and pedicure ( I got her as present for Xmas), that ended up in lunch out and a slice of cake. The curry when husband was home.

Yesterday was alright until we ended up at a chinese bufet with friends.

Today is my birthday - so trying to remain on track(ish), had my HEB toast with quark and smoked salmon, HEA in a decaff latte.

Fruit and yoghurt later for lunch and then out for japanese noodle soup for dinner maybe.

Also edit I was lying in bed last night and my belly felt like it was bubbling. I was wondering if its movements or if I'm really windy. I can't wait til I feel baby moving.

Happy belated birthday Lexidog!! Hope you had a great day yesterday!

I know it seems crazy signing up for a cake class days before delivery lol but I really want to go. Throughout my pregnancy I haven't felt weighed down or especially tired (except for the evil 1st tri), I feel just like myself but with a big belly so I don't think I'll pass out or anything lol. Plus it's only a 2 hour class from 2pm - 4pm. DH is all for it and will drop me off and pick me up which is sweet. So I think I'll do it! I have to say that the cakemaker was the one who made my wedding cupcakes and I have seriously NEVER tasted a cupcake so good! It'll be amazing to learn how he made them!! Just for drooling purposes here's a pic of my wedding cupcakes!

Hello ladies, I've not been on this sticky but I'm 20 weeks and so far I've gained only 6lbs.

I just wanted to say hello and I just ask have you found the MW ok with your weight gain?

I'm just a little concerned that I've not gained much so far and whether its ok. I know baby is ok cos I had a scan and she weighs 10oz for ny number of weeks.

Thanks and congratulations to you all x

Hi Cheekypasterfield! Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy! I think 6lbs at 20 weeks is not too bad, maybe a touch under the ideal amount you should gain considering your start weight. I use this website to calculate weight gain;

Pregnancy Weight Gain Calculator at Baby Corner

It's just an approximation but it'll give you an idea of what you should weigh through the weeks of pregnancy. Good luck!

*drools* i love your wedding cupcakes honey.
I LOVED my cupcake course, i did it back in july and spent an extortionate amount as i wanted a 'closed kitchen' for me and my best friend for her birthday, it was amazing.. and i totally love getting creative in the kitchen now. I cant wait to have my energy back so i can get baking again.*warning* you will run to your nearest cake specialist store and spend lots of money on fancy things, piping nozzles.. special cases.. the lot. LOL i spent £120 on stuff as soon as i'd finished the course LMAO. OH was not impressed, esp as id spent £200 for a two hour course for two of us. LOL

wedding cake is the BEST cake. that all i go to wedding fayres for!!

congrats cheeky! your doing very well- just to prewarn you, you mind find you really pack it on in the last 4-5 weeks, as my bessie did after gaining 7lbs up till 30 wks, .. she was so mad cos she couldnt control the weight gain, it was like 4lbs, 3lbs.. quite big numbers weekly, when she popped she said had LOADS of water when they broke and her bump almost halved from it.. and after birth she dropped 1st 5lbs, and a futher 5lbs the week after, so it ended up being all extra fluids towards the end etc.. so dont panic if it looks like your ballooning all of a sudden! lol

im feeling brighter this evening, despite being blocked up, grr!

gunna try and get my eating back on track over the next few days. xx

hey everyone,

just thought i'd give you a quick update, had my 32 week appointment the other day and baby is still breech. Anyone had any experience of this, am freaking out at thought to ECV and C section!!!! its my 2nd and had no problems at all with first...

Oh im sorry honey, im not sure, what i do know is that babys are often breach and do turn at the last minute.

csecs are my worst nightmare, so i can imgaine your concern. I suggest that maybe you start working on this and your confidence with it so you feel alot more relaxed should the situation arise, and if baby sorts it out in time.. youl be extremely releived..xxxx

Thanks, i know what you mean, my mum keeps saying its early days and not to worry about C Section but like you say i figured i should try and find out what i can and prepare myself just in case....

maybe try and tap into your 'usual' way of relaxing and come up with some ways of mentally preparing yourself should this be the eventuality, i really hope baby moves for you though! x

Hi Donzy84, I know how you mean about being scared about c-sections. I'm anxious myself cuz I have to have one due to having a myomectomy 3 years ago. Of course now that it's been confirmed that I am having a c-section, baby has slipped into the perfect position for a vaginal birth, typical lol. I read somewhere that accupuncture can help the baby turn? A lot can happen between now and 36 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much as the baby's still wriggling a lot at the moment. Good luck!

Baby could still turn, you have a few weeks yet, so it might not result in a c section, apparently getting on all fours alot is good for getting baby to move into prime position.

Fingers crossed baby moves for you.

Hey honey

If you google you should be able to find some ways to turn baby - different positions for you to get into. Britmum has mentioned one I think. Am sure there are others as well so have a look about and check out a few websites - there is loads out there about it.
Fingers crossed that baby turns for you hun *hugs*
