Pregnancy and Slimming World

Hello!

How is everyone today?
I'm shattered, went to work for a few hours this morning to ease myself back into it (doctors orders!) and that's been enough.
Work are being fab tho, told a few more people (they had kinda guessed anyway, seeing as I was off sick so often) and everyone's reaction was "it's a girl!"
Apparently the relentless sickness is a sign of a girl?!
Anyway got the afternoon to chill out and then it's off to SW tonight- I think the only reason I still go is because I'm on the social team and I'd be letting people down if I didn't go. I certainly haven't been following SW at all and probably won't until I'm past 12 weeks and the sickness.
Good thing is, my scales are showing a loss, which is hardly surprising given my little hospital trip!

Which brings me nicely to this...

In 24 hours, I will be on the way to hospital to see my baby for the first time :D
To say I'm excited is an understatement!! :D

I'm also a bit nervous too, I suppose that's natural right?
And also for those who've had early scans (as in before the 12 week one) do you get a print out to keep?
Both sets of parents know about the scan and really want to see a pic! X

And also, I've got to have a 'reasonably full bladder' to quote my letter and I'm not allowed to empty my bladder for 90 mins beforehand- how do you manage that?!?!
I have the worlds weakest bladder without being pregnant!
I read up weeks ago to see "signs" of what I was having.. And read if its a girl, it'll kill you with MS and every ailment going... "She takes your beauty from early on"
However... I'm carrying a girl and almost skipped MS and every other ailment there is.. Whereas Missy is carrying a boy and has had an awful of it.. Princess Peach is carrying a girl and has been sick, but not the worst and JoeyJoJo is carrying a boy and has been off work sick since pretty much the start...
So its really hit n miss... Though its 50% chance of being right :D

I had a scan at 7 weeks and got a pic.. Doesn't look much like a baby but its by far my fav scan pic... But don't get your hopes up as its so different from hospital to hospital and pregnancy to pregnancy...

I never got a handout but had wee'd probably within half hour of having my scan.. But I poured the water into me while there... You just hold it.. Coz you know its a matter of getting a clearer picture on the screen :)

:D Very pleased for you! Bet hubby is chuffed to bits too! Have they said what's happening with future stuff or have you just got to wait and see? xxx

I have an appointment next Tuesday to seethe consultant. Then will be about 6 weeks.

I have been warned I will need some form of reconstructive surgery - That is normally 3 months after but by then I will be in my final month of mat leave and if for some reason I can't go back I think I will be forced to take longer mat leave instead of going on sick! :-/ they have said 6-8 weeks for me. But I'm not sure if I want it... What if this happens again?? The prob she said about not having it done is it might make future children difficult and sex in general ... :-( I'm so not happy about this!! Xxx

It's a tough decision but you don't have to make it yet, right? Once you're all healed and settled with Stevie it should hopefully be easier to come a decision about whether you do want it or not. For now just enjoy being home with your family xxx

I could live with the 'disfigurement' and even not having sex to an extent but I'm not convinced hubby would be quite as willing. Not so much the look as he is not like that but the whole sex thing is important to people....oh no point worrying about it now what will be will be!

And out of all this a beautiful baby boy :) my new best friend xxx

I'm sure he'll just want what's best for you in the long run, whatever the situation might be. Enjoy your time together as a family with your little star xxx

The old wives tales are a right load of rubbish I have decided ;) I wasn't bad at all compared to some in the first tri (all day nausea, very little actual sickness but lots of food aversions and reflux) and I'm very lucky for that but I know people who've had both girls and boys who had no early preg symptoms at all! A co-worker who is having a boy had no sickness until the second tri, it's so weird how it works out different for us all. My MIL has two sons, she said she had massive sickness when pregnant with husband but none at all with his brother, so it can even change like that with two babies of the same sex.

Apparently susceptibility to ms can be genetic though so ask your close female relatives! My mum
apparently breezed through pregnancy with me (until she was diagnosed with GD later on) so I wonder if that's why I got off so lightly? Not that it felt like that at the time you understand, but lightly compared to others...

Dougal - it's totally normal to be nervous! It's a big occasion after all :) And they should do you a picture if you ask - we didn't get one from our scan at 7 weeks but got one each from our scans at 11, 13 and 20 weeks. Good luck - I'm sure it will be an amazing experience for you and hubby! xxx

Thanks I'm so excited! Can't believe its tomorrow eek!

And what you was saying about the ms, my Mum didn't suffer at all with either me or my sister and my Nan has 3 relatively easy pregnancies as well.
Someone else told me its a sign of twins!!!!

Plus I seem to have a bit of a bump already?

Well you never know! But it might just be bloating at this stage though so it may just be the one baby! I started to find my clothes tight at around 12 weeks and got out my mat wear but then it kinda went down and I was gutted! Real bump appeared at 16 weeks and then really popped out at 18 weeks, that was the point where everyone could tell and I started getting comments. I'm a lot fatter than you though so I bet you'll show earlier than I did :)

Ooh cute bumpage. Good luck for tomorrow x

My mam had 5 easy pregnancies, 3 girls 2 boys n 1 horrid (compared to the others) pregnancy which was another a boy. She said the only difference between him n us was he was a chubster n hairy as a monkey!!! Lol

And to add, yes it's perfectly normal to b scared n nervous n as excited as h3ll going in to yer scan. I kno I was. N although I'd a scan only last Monday n everything was perfect, am nervous again for ante natal appointment tomoro too.

Today's the day eek!

6 hours and 20 mins to go.... :D

Good luck! You'll have to let us know how it goes :)

Good luck hun.. Hope all goes well.. Make sure you pop on and update us :)
How's the sickness this morning? Hopefully not too bad...

Have my second AN appointment today.. Not sure what to expect.. Feeling fine myself..
Recovering well from my cold n sore throat.. Cold sore on my nose is painful but bearable and not half as swollen as it usually would be (get a cold sore always after I've had a cold)
Babies been a bit quiet the last couple of days.. Few little wriggles here n there but not much.. Though its still too early for bubs to have any sort of "pattern" as such and its been a big of active one day, quiet the next so am not too worried.. If I wasn't getting any movement I'd probaby be panicking more..

Hope everyone's well x

Thanks I'm so excited :D

No sickness since Monday woop!
Still feel nauseous every so often but that's normal.
Toast and marmite is my saviour- works a treat!
I love marmite but thought the strong taste wouldn't agree with me in pregnancy but thankfully it does :)

And you girls are right about the bumpage- it's just bloat, it's totally flat this morning :(

Make sure you're drinking plenty with eating marmite as it contains allot of salt...
Don't be sad about the bump.. it'll be there before you know it... Mine too has gone down a good bit today compared to earlier in the week... Everyone was commenting this week on how its finally come out.. But seems to be shy now and going back in... lol

So glad the sickness seems to be put back in its box.. Just eat regularly now and keep sipping on that water and hopefully you can control it...

Marmite is full of iron and B12 though which is good so plenty of water with it and you'll be reet :)

Is it?? Ohh... Wish I liked marmite then... Am trying to eat all I can to get iron in wihtout needing tablets (not that i've been told i need them but i really don't want to have to take them)
Plenty of vit c to help absorb it too then.. Seen as you're taking it in :)

1 hour, 35 mins to go....

I'm getting really anxious and I feel really sick too...
