Quins; back to the plan.

Go for it, last year I bought myself a new bike & was in the same dilemma, feeling guilty spending so much money, in the end I knew I'd use it & save money (all bit it very little) on petrol cycling to work.

Hey Texty, your sexy Texty thread had me in stitches.

I am going to try and keep at this level as the target I set wasn't with any C , just doing this from home. The extra weight coming off has helped with my cycling which is important to me and I don't want to be carrying any weight that will make it more difficult, a great incentive isn't it. It makes me laugh that we go out for the ride and stop for CAKE ! Or FULL ENGLISH! Mind you, I'm not up to eating the full English yet.

Have you tried going out for a 20 min walk ( a sweaty one) ? That's how I got back into exercise. Just 3 times a week. Made it a must and only 20 mins. Fitted it in round dropping kids at their training and instead of sitting in the car or standing watching them I went for a brisk walk. It did wonders for my well being. Endorphins are great!

The longer, lower intensity exercise uses a different energy system that will eventually star to dent into fat. Jogging, bike, walking etc. I think to really benefit the time has to be 45 min plus , but it all counts. I started to value the 20 mins and what it was worth to me.

What do you think? Could you do it twice a week to see how it goes? Get your head phones on and have a walk.
.

Lol im glad my thread amused - laughing is good body magic right? :D

I dont mind walking at all - when the weather is good OH and I often walk around the local park and lakes its a good 2 hour walk - mind you I feel its a sprint for me as he is 6'5 and I have to take 2 steps to every 1 of his lol. I keep saying are you not with me??

I have signed up to join the gym at work I just have to wait for my membership coming through it can take weeks, I will get there eventually

I'm nearly there Happyholidays , all I've got to do is grow a pair and take the plunge. Mrs Quins said do it, but I'm still feeling guilty and thinking if what else I should be spending in..kids, log burner ..you know how it is.

Elm, my bike is a basic Evans pinnacle sentinel 1.0 and has been described as scaffolding poles with basic shimano kit hanging off it. It really doesn't owe me much, bought it 3 or 4 years ago for £230 new , they we going for £500 . Now I'm contemplating ( have put a refundable deposit down) on the last Giant defy composite 2 2012 model in a small in the UK. It's got SRAM apex and a 32 on the back that would be ideal for bad boy hills. I have been looking for a couple of months, it's difficult as I feel guilty spending money on myself. Kids, colleges, uni and my kids are sporty and successful at it. Lads if kit, club fees, completion fees and gas for the horrendous mileage.......

I can understand why you'd feel guilty for you with having a family and all haha but I still say go for it if you can. My bike was $720USD google says that about £544 and the price is so worth it. Your bike(s) are awesome!

Hi Quins - Do you measure your hexs? ie milk and cheese, meats etc.

It may help going back to basics and remembering to measure. If your rice was not dry it would have to be synned as the pouches are called ambient and have oils in them to keep them fresh in the pouch.

If doing Green today your gammon should be 60g cooked or 90g raw. Sometimes its just a case of re educating/re aquainting ourselves with the plan/books.

We did a new member talk in group 2 weeks ago and I think thats what helped me get my 3lb off last week.

Hi Texty, no I've stopped measuring hex's now . I'm well under my target and just keeping to the principals of red and green during the week. I'm really pleased with the way it's gone. I think the cycling has helped a lot too, on top of the running and walking. I do find that I'm quite hungry in the evenings. How's it going with you? How's the back?

Im not surprised your hungry at night after all that exercise id be starving. I know you tend to stick mainly to red/green what about as someone has said and mixing it up and doing a couple of EE?

What about homemade rice pudding as a dessert for when you want something sweet, thats quite filling and rice is free. Fill up with more veg? you could buy frozen and then just zap it in the microwave, or casseroles which could be in the slow cooker all day.
You would have a hot meal for getting in then instead of grabbing whatever is available, you can also do chillies and curries in the slowcooker then you would just have to do your rice.

Just a few ideas. My back is so so thanks for asking, just waiting for my MRI appt now god knows when that will be lol

I started with EE and didn't get on with it in the early days, that was when I started this "help I'm stuck thread". I have got my meals sorted for work , bit if a routine for the front end if the week, green then go over to red for a couple of days and either red or green for Friday and ease off at the weekend.

I usually have yoghurts to hand to curb the sweet cravings but with the increase in mileage it sometimes isn't enough in the evenings. Rushing around getting youngest to swim club doesn't lend itself to an organised meal having commuted back from London. I literally get in and grab something red or green then get out the door, get her to swim club depending which pool ( can be 45 mins away for a 2 hour session) go running while she swims and get back home between 9 and 9.45 , usually we are both hungry. Good job we have about 30 hens, we go through loads of eggs!
