Red Riding Hood diary take two - deliver the picnic basket don't eat it!

So after falling off the wagon most spectacularly and putting pretty much every lb back on I am back to try again.

Not the best start yesterday I saved up my Hex to have 2 Alpen bars and a hot chocolate at night and FORGOT!!! I can't believe it  Won't be making that mistake again today. I had no syns either which I know isn't a good thing from last time - but I also know it's just me getting back into the swing of it, I just need to get all the syn stuff back into my head.

I'll probably be doing a lot of green this time round 1) because it is cheap and I like veggie food and because it's coming up to summer, the tutoring will dry up after this round of exams until the beginning of the next school year so money will be a little tighter and 2) I like having 2 Hex - when I don't forget to have them *slaps head*

I'll throw in the odd red and some EE though too. I'll be relying on diary readers and this site to help me with new syn info I have the 2012 free branded food book to help. Mostly I'm doing it at home. I'm hoping after the summer to join online when I have the money to pay for it for all the extra benefits that brings, but I don't want to wait to start until then.

I have to say I've actually enjoyed my first day so here was the menu

Wednesday 25/04/12 – Green
Breakfast – .Bowl of fruit (banana, pineapple, apple, grapes)
3 free sausages, 2 eggs in frylight, LC beans

Lunch – . Massive salad (3 new potatoes, 2 spoons Tesco light choice cottage cheese (with pepper pesto)

Dinner – .Quorn and veg curry, rice – banana, mullerlight

Snack – .ryvita and cheese and cup of superfree spicy tomato soup.
Highlights drink (2 syns) 2 Alpen Lights

Hex A and B – 3 x dark rye Ryvita (1/2 hexB) 2 Babybel Light, 1 Laughing cow light , (HexA)

Syns –

Let the healthy eating commence ... and lets hope I stay on longer this time and lose more - I have a LOT to lose (about 1 extra person's worth)

My diary is so boring at the moment - I've pretty much had the same thing as I need to go shopping.

Went out tonight to a leaving do after tutoring but I was very good (as you would hope on my first week back on plan) and only had diet coke, so no syns.

Also visited a friend today in between working and got to cuddle a gorgeous 4 week old baby girl for hours - so lovely.

Now I'm back from being out I still have a little work to do to prepare for tomorrow morning's work. It's far too late for working though - I must be mental.

Friday 28/04/12 – Green
Breakfast – .Bowl of fruit (banana, pineapple, apple, grapes)
½ tortilla with cottage cheese, mushroom, onion, new potatoes sliced.4 eggs, 2 sausages (free ones) extra Laughing Cow Light on tortilla 1.5syns

Dinner – .leftover lentil bolognaise and wholewheat spaghetti
Snack – . dark rye ryvita and cheese and cup of superfree spicy tomato soup
Highlights drink (2 syns) and 2 Alpen Light

Syns – 3.5

Good luck being back on the wagon! I'm thinking about doing mainly Green days as I seemed to lose more the last time around.

Thanks Scorpiod, I don't know if I lose more - I'll have to see but red costs so much although I am going to try a couple next week I think. I'll give it a go this way and then reassess I think. Hoping my food diary will get more exciting. I think I'll include a link to my old diary to remind me of some of my meals. I have a couple of recipes from here that I'm hoping to try. Once the exams here are over I won't have as much work so I'll have more time to cook instead of marking essays!

Thanks Britmum - how are you and your children?

I've already been to visit you blog and was pleased to find all the pulse recipes - I am going to be trying those. I didn't have any sweet potato when I made my lentil bolognaise this time but it looks like a good addition to it so I am going to try it. I always buy sweet potatoes anyway because my youngest son's favourite soup is sweet potato, carrot and lentil - he loves it. I'll just remember to hold back a sweet potato this time.

Meat is so expensive! Did a small shop at lidl today and got all my fruit and veg, baked beans and mushy peas and it came to just under 30quid which I thought was quite good. Probably have a red day tomorrow as having sw donner kebab!

Sent from my HTC Desire S using MiniMins

I shop in Lidl for fruit and veg too. Also having a red day today for a change:

Hey!

Love the name of your diary! Good luck, i'm sure you'll be having some wonderful losses! I've never been able to stick to just one plan at a time, get bored of the same meals, so I always alternate between all 3 plans! Are you studying aswell? I am, it gets difficult sometimes to balance healthy eating and stress from studying!

Yes they definitely were missing dill - I didn't have any. Next time I'll have to remember to buy some. Hope your day of being good goes extremely well Donna

Thank you :)

I'm not studying - did all mine a looong time ago. I used to teach at university a while back but now I tutor English lit to kids in the evenings. I have 2 young kids so it allows me to be at home with them while making a little money. Their exams are soon so they are all freaking out a little, poor things.

What are you studying Emoo - are you enjoying it?

I find it just as hard to get in time with working and looking after two to fit the plan in but I know from experience that studying is hard work especially at this time of year. Have you got exams soon?

Got all salmon pate ingredients in just need to find the oomph to get up and make it now....feeling exhausted, remind me never to drink again!

I have been angelic all day - had pizza and salad for dinner, going to have a yogurt and loads of pineapple a bit later and then an early night!

How's your day been RRH?

My day has been ok. Played a bit with my boys and now I'm about to do some work on themes in Animal Farm (exciting lol). Food-wise I have been good - then again it is my first week so a slip would have been bad!

The creamy curry sauce was surprisingly good - I think I need to up the spices though next time. I batch cooked it so I have 3 portions in the freezer and did a load of roasted pepper, tomato and basil soup and spicy butternut squash for superfree snacks and lunch in the week. Still have some salmon pate left too so I may do Extra Easy tomorrow or is it Easy Extra - I forget.

Oh and by the way don't drink again Donna (as if that will work, it never does with me :D)

This is the plan for today - assuming I get time to make the minestrone soup. Easy Extra today:

Monday 1/05/12 – Easy Extra
Breakfast – .Bowl of fruit (pineapple, apple, grapes, strawberry)

Lunch – .Bowl superfree Butternut squash soup,
2 LC sausages (1 syn), 2 eggs, LC baked beans.

Dinner – .Homemade minestrone soup, ingredients below
(lots of veg – peppers, mushrooms, courgettes, onions, spinach, tomato), haricot beans, lentils, lean gammon steaks cut into small chunks, wholemeal pasta, basil etc) Muller light thick greek style (0.5 syns)

Snack – .2 salmon/lettuce wraps, Highlights drink (2 syns)

Hex A and B – .Alpen lights - B, Light cheddar cheese - A (sprinkled on soup)

Syns – .3.5
