Aww bless you for saying that, take some time to think it all out and keep us updated and remember whatever you decide to do we will be with you every step of the way, whether you like it or not lol xx
IMHO, having been on and off vlcds for about four years, started at 12.4, at the beginning of this year, I started dieting at 14.9... So they don't work long term for me (but def short term).
But, that said, they work for some and you have to do whats right for you And I don't think a doctor or a dietician can help. A dietician will probably tell you to calorie count, eat your 5 fruit and veg, and cut down on processed food. Unless you have a specific illness they tend to tout the government advice. A doctor might be able to tell you what not to do if you have a specific problem, but the body is so complex and they tend to have their favourite plans. (I'm obviously generalising here, but in a five min consultation they can rarely get to know your needs).
Personally I think you need to try different stuff, whatever that might be, and listen very carefully to your body. Sod everyone else, if you feel good, continue, if you don't, try and work out why.
Since the beginning of the year, I tried calorie counting, 2 vlcds (lighter life & slim & save), dukan, Atkins and diet chef, until I found paleo and juddd. For each of them there were elements I liked and elements I couldn't work. Even now, I'm playing with juddd coz 500 cal DDs don't really agree with me.
If you try a vlcd and don't get on with it, you are not failing, you are learning. Keep your diary so you don't go round in circles but progress. Above all, good luck. We have faith in you.
And sorry for the insanely long post xxx
See to me, I don't think u need to go on a vlcd! Ur Bmi is lower than mine and my doctor was horrified I was thinkin of going bk on a vlcd before I started juddd, maybe there saying it for ur health reasons rather than weight?? Duno? Strange one to me! Just see what u think Hun and do what u feels best xxx

Worth trying everything, but above all listen to yourself x and you really aren't that overweight !
Just wanted to say hi, I've been lurking reading your diary for over a week and so inspired by your Juddd journey (moved over from vlcd today in fact)
I'm surprised by the doctors response as you are. Can't be an easy decision for you to make, take some time to have a think and make sure it's right for you. Juddd will always be there if it doesn't work out. You've done incredibly xxx

As a nurse, the advice I cud give, for what it counts. Your BMI isn't that big, vlcd r great for weight loss but I think once u move into the none total solution phase u r just as well doing calorie counting. What about on dd eating acid suppressant foods, yoghurt, milk, cheese etc and try controlling it acid that way, although cheese is high in calories. Avoid any spicy foods, or irritants! Play about with ur diet, u will no tour own body x

Slim & Save VLCD Programme is suitable for anyone with a BMI greater than 25 or has at least 6.5kg (one stone / 14lb’s) to lose. Providing they are not pregnant, breast feeding, insulin dependent (type 1 diabetes) or have a serious medical condition that requires a doctors written confirmation or is under 18 years old.
More so than any diet a TFR/VLCD should only be undertaken with the knowledge of your doctor. You should be in good health with strong mind and positive attitude. If you are not then you should not start a VLCD
With a BMI of 27 I really don't think you should be contemplating a VLCD, in fact I am really angry on your behalf that it has been suggested, there are obviously foods that disagree with you this has nothing to do with the fact that you are overweight and not even by that much !! If you are not 100% then as already said you might as well calorie count as it will have the same affect without being so restrictive. I really feel for you, you have been doing so well and now you are in a right dilemma, right I am getting off my soap box now hunnybun as I know you have lots to think about, my little ones will be home soon so am off now and will check back in the morning, goodnight my little chicken xx

I did slim n save and if you are going to do one its about the cheapest and has the most variety but I have to say I would go back to your GP and insist on being referred to a dietitian, I really don't think a VLCD is what you need hun, they are completely full on there are no half measures, if your GP is worried about your Yo yo ing aVLCD is just about the worst thing as it is so easy to fail as they are very hard to stick to for a length of time, think long and Hard Ruth but I think a dietitian is the answer x
