Sarah's Target & 10K Mission

Ahh thanks gorgeous girl! We have food plans for Bruges but not much in terms of activities. Did want to go to the Last Post ceremony at Ypres but the tours don't run in January, annoyingly. Can't bloody wait though!xxx Sent from my iPhone using MiniMins

How annoying, that is very high on my must do list. I'm a First World War buff so would be awesome to go.

Dinner looks fab. I never do rice I'm such a red day girl!

I am so proud of you :)

A) You're back!
B) You're committed to exercise
C) You are 100% on it!

My only advice with the running is I wouldn't worry about completing a 10k before your race. The atmosphere and adrenaline will spur you on and I actually think completing one for the first time in a race is also a good motivator when the going gets tough - at least for me

Loads of love chick and happy New Year! XxxX

Thanks gorgeous! That's definitely good advice - I read somewhere that if you can run 5k without stopping, you're fit enough to run a 10k...I guess the principle is similar. As long as I get out and run on my three days each week I think I will be ok, even if I don't quite make the speeds/distances in the plan xxx

Definitely! I had only run 5 and I managed as each extra km I was like OMG I've never ran this far!! Hehe xxxx

Hey beauts!!

Was over syns by a couple yesterday but all in all, not bad. Ended up having smoked salmon pasta as we came back from my aunties slightly earlier than i expected. It was yum!

Managed to run 3k without stopping this morning despite the freezing cold, so super proud of myself.

Food today is looking like:
B - banana
L/D - seared lamb fillet with sweet potato mash, roasted baby carrots, asparagus and broccoli. Cooking as we speak and can't wait!!!!

Will have something for supper too - maybe a little fruit salad with some LF creme fraiche?

Did a massive Aldi shop this morning so all sorted for a week on plan. Bloody excited about all the yumminess we have planned. AND to too it all off, s3 of the Walking Dead is finally on TiVo so we are just settling down to watch it. Whoop!!xxx

Morning lovely ladies!

I'm feeling decidedly grumpy being back at my desk today. Especially as we have a department meeting at 4pm so I'm going to be late home. Grr... The festivities seemed to be over so fast this year - I would have loved to have a bit more time off. But never mind, onwards and upwards. We've got two full work weeks to get through and then two nice 4-day weeks with Bruges sandwiched in the middle. Super-excited about that!

So, it was official WI this morning (Mondays definitely work better for me) and the scales gave me 11.1, which is still grim, but a good little dent, and makes me determined to get back in the tens by this time next week. Today is also Day 1 of my 14 week 10k plan. Having had chats with some of my running friends over the weekend (and the lovely Jess), I think I've been a bit tough on myself with how many miles/KM's I'm expecting to do. I've got 14 whole weeks so I don't need to achieve the whole distance in just a few! So I'm going to take another look and focus on just getting out there and running three times a week, rather than expecting myself to be running solidly for an hour straight away! My quads are feeling a bit tight after yesterday's run, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow's, despite the fact it's going to mean a 5.30am alarm!!

Kicking off the week with a good ol' fast day, which is shaping up to consist of:
FF yog (80)
Raspberries (15)
SF jelly (10)
Homemade onion soup (80)
Red lentil dhal with cauli rice (140 & 50)
Three rich tea biccies (110)
Total - 485

Hope everyone's Mondays fly by!!

Well, it's official - I've signed up! So no backing out now!

I've also updated my training plan to take the pressure off myself to run 10k before the event. It should give me a bit of time to work up my pace, instead of focusing purely on pushing the distance. I've targeted myself to get up to 8km before the race and will let the adrenaline carry me the final 2k!

As always, advice from you amazing running types is very much appreciated!

Morning babe!

I was planning to do a fast today but wimped out! I'm very impressed you jumped straight back on.

The updated training plan looks great. I think you should just see how you get on. If you feel like you want to push yourself harder as you go then do, if you feel like you want to focus on pace then do that. There are lots of training plans online too that you can get inspiration from too. Personally I'd like to run 10k first so I know I can do it - but I have longer to train and you're also braver than me! Haha.

Boo to a late meeting. Not the best way to start the year. At least you have Bruges to look forward to xx

Ah thanks Pip. Love the new profile pic by the way - you're such a stunner!

I'm definitely not brave and I'm definitely not a runner, so the whole thing at the moment feels utterly terrifying!! But all I can do is take it a day at a time and see how I go.

Well done for getting back on plan. Fast days can wait - I don't think I would have done one today if I hadn't spent the last 3 days easing myself back into things!!

xxx

Morning gorgeous! Sounds like a really sensible approach you're taking with the running! :) woop got signing up and having a goal to work towards now!

Check you out with the fast day too! You'll be back in those 10s in no time at this rate!

Fingers crossed work flies and the meeting isn't too late tonight! Xxxx

Aww thanks love - I don't feel it at the moment though! Or in that picture - it's my overly excited, 'I'm in the pretty woman hotel and the bathrooms are amazing' face. What a dork!!!

I'm hoping to join you with the fasting next week. I really want to try and get off some of this damage before I go snowboarding or it's going to be super hard work picking myself up with the extra weight xxx

I'm a geek with things like that too. Love it!!

I know what you mean about extra weight. I really felt it when I was running. My knee was a little achey afterwards and I've never had that before - it's the extra stone I'm lugging 'round with me. Can't wait for it to be gone! xx

And gone it will be! In no time at all if you can keep up the positive energy!

I think you were right to rejig your plan too. I've never ran a race of a certain distance for the first time having done the distance beforehand. It's always a nice little bonus on the day :)

What date is the race?! This is so exciting! I love how everybody is running now, yay! xx
