Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

Bit disappointed in that Holland & Barrett's wasn't open, so no nut loaf today. On the other hand though I found Young's Calamari rings in Sainsburys, which I've been trying for months to find...I used to get then in Somerfield before the Co-Op bought them out, and haven't found them anywhere else since. So that will be tea tonight instead, and I'm looking forward to that...squid, peas & chips. :D

Morning all. Today is going to be an "interesting" day, as my shifts at work today are bizare to say the least...I'm in one place from 11 until 3, then have an hours break before running off to another library for 4 till 7. What this means is, of course, is no lunch break until 3pm, so I'm having a bigger breakfast than I usually would and am having a fry up...done as healthily as I possibly can, of course.
I'll be glad when today is over with, as I've a day off tomorrow. In theory, at least. :p

It should go fine once I'm there, to be honest. Really what's bothering me more is hanging around this morning until 11 waiting to go to work. If I've got a shift, I'd rather have it from 9 as you can't really do anything with a couple of hours...if I get into doing anything this morning now, I won't feel like leaving. lol.
The breakfast was lovely. Oddly I've never fried an egg with fry light before, and I was impressed with how "light" it felt. Must admit to being a convert there now...may as well chuck the oil in the bin now.

I'm the other way around...was using fry light for my eggs but because I do simply filling I have to have oil each day(though I don't always)So I use oil for them instead now!
Yea at least with a early start you can get on with it so to speak, time can drag aswell when waiting!
Glad you enjoyed your breakfast, hope the shifts go well for you and you have a good day :0)

Well my second shift today was incredibly unpleasant (office politics), but has made my mind up about something. A job has come up in the county record office which I'm very tempted by, and have been uming & arring about all weekend for various reasons. I've decided to give it a try though and apply, as I think I'll be happier...and the fact that it'd be a full time contract as opposed to part time would mean for a more stable work pattern. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thanks. :) Back many moons ago when I was a job seeker, I did a training course there (designed to give work experience etc) and loved every moment. Think it's the path I should follow in life, and nothing motivates me more than a bloody-minded determination to prove that people are wrong about me. :p

Relaxing now with a portion of Quorn mousakka I found in the freezer. Now I've chipped off the frost it was encased in, it's very tasty! Adding that to my list for next week's cooking session. :)

You sound very determined about the job which is good!people can often be quick to judge others without looking at themselves first!
Dinner sounds nice(without the frosting!)
Good choice of meal for next week!

It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but for one reason or another I've always come up with a reason why I can't when a vacancy has come up in the past. Think now is my time though...family historian with a history degree, nearly 5-years experience working in a library (which is quite similar...same choir different song, so to speak). Would like to think I've got as good a chance as anyone working in a record office. Certainly if I don't try, then I'll never know!

I do very much enjoy mousakka...it's a WW recipe I follow, of course, from page 111 of the WW Book of Recipes (blue one with a creme brule on the front). Only difference is that I use Quorn mince instead of lamb mince, so the points may be a bit lower than the book quotes. Didn't have time this morning to put the entire recipe through eSource. Can recommend the recipe to anyone. :)

Maybe now is the right time for you then,I'm a strong believer in things happen when the time is right..the trick is knowing when that time is ;0)
(there's a lot of time there!)
Anyhow...I don't have any of the recipes books as I do WW from home,I tend to use Quorn or turkey mince!
