Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

Yesterday's food looks yummy as does today's! ^^ Any plans for this weekend?

Yesterday's food was divine. Thought I'd celebrate with a chippy visit, so tried out this new one that's opened down the road from me. Was well worth it, although I did surprise myself in that I couldn't finish my chips. Must be getting used to smaller portions. :p Very much looking forward to tonight's risotto...last of the recipes I made for the freezer I'm yet to try, so fingers crossed it's nice. lol Shall have to start making plans for the next batch of freezer meals really.

Haven't thought that far ahead, to be perfectly honest. lol. I'm in work tomorrow morning, so see what comes up afterwards. May have a go at finishing off those wills I got many moons ago (I keep procrastinating whenever I try to work on them. lol), as I've had someone ask me about the family they connect too.

Afternoon all. Looks like my weekend plans have changed, which means I now actually have plans. lol. Off out for a pint or two tomorrow, so just trying to juggle my points a bit. Had planned on a few drinks tonight and to make a pizza tomorrow. May leave the pizza now until later in the week. :p Will put my diary up shortly...just working out the points, as I'm having pasta for dinner. :)

Work was boring as sin, and a little annoying...I really dislike being moved (I got moved today so as to keep a library open), especially on a Saturday - which tends to be out busiest day of the week where I am usually. Ah well, two weeks and I'm on leave for 10 days!

Thanks. :) Pasta has always been my favourite food, but I don't have it very often now...no reason other than that I'm always forgetting to take my calculator with me when I go shopping, and tend to not like to buy if I don't know the points on them. I wish WW still did a stuffed pasta of their own, as that was so convenient! No idea why they stopped doing it!

Having a touch of meat today, partly as I fancied a bit of liver and partly as I find I cope with going for a drink better if I've a little meat protein in me. Seems to help soak it up better, so I get less hungover. At least that's the theory, and I'm sticking to it. lol. I'll sort out dinner later on when I come out the pub...no idea what I'll have, but have 45pp to play with if I use my weeklies so not too worried about it all. :)

Evening all. Busy day at work, and some pretty poor food choices if I'm honest. I've had to guesstimate on a tikka wrap I had mid-afternoon, as the nutritional info on the packaging was useless (callories, sugar, fat, sat fat & salt really don't help!!)...so used the old "40-calories is a point" rule, so am hoping it's more or less right.

I think what was worse about the food choices yesterday was that I didn't particularly enjoy them...especially the tikka wrap, which had all the flavour and texture of a toilet roll. Total waste of 10pp that I could have used on cake! lol. Never really used the 40-cals is a point rule before, to be honest, but it does seem to be more or less right. :)

Had pizza today, which was as lovely as ever. Shoved a load of chives on it, just because they were just about ready to spawn the next evolution of life in the fridge if I didn't use them. lol. Made for an interesting underlying taste, even though my plan had been to add them to the dough...but I forgot. lol.

Oooo, I haven't tried them! I usually go for the Bernard Matthews ones when I'm in a meat mood...they do lovely ham & cheese or garlic & herb ones, which I adore! Sure Quorn do kievs too, but not seen them for a while...which is a pity. In two minds about just packing this whole "I'm not eating meat" thing in, as I'm not sticking to it...and really I was happier with my tum upset from eating meat than I have been with my tum upset from eating too much Quorn, if that makes any sense. If I'm going to have an upset tum either way, I may as well eat what I enjoy. :)

They do some lovely garlic kievs in the BGTY range at Sainsbury's. Can't remember the points on them, but they taste lovely. :)

Quorn do the gruyere cheese escalopes as far as I know, I had half a ham and cheese kiev and half a bacon and leek one as I couldn't decide! I've tried the BGTY ones in Sainsburys and I agree, they're great, 7-8pp for one as far as I can remember. I love meat waaaay too much to ever give it up for any reason to be honest so I envy your willpower! I'm always really skeptical about quorn/meat-free products, sure they're pretty decent substitutes but it just isn't the same as tucking your teeth into a nice juicy pork chop or a lump of steak!

I find Quorn is great as an alternative to sausages, mince or chicken...which apart from an addiction to KFC (that Colonel really knew what he was doing! lol), I've never really been a fan of anyway. It's lamb, liver and steak I can't seem to do without. I like my steak a bit on the rare side (nice big T-bone, medium rare, with chips & mushrooms. Yum!!!), and somehow a Quorn steak doesn't feel the same...so I think meat is going to find it's way back into my diet. Not as an every day thing, but as a once or twice a week thing I think. Certainly I'm not doing the Quorn twice a day thing any more, as it leaves me feeling like I've swallowed a bag of cement. lol.

Mmmm...kievs. Nomnomnom. :p

Well that's me fresh off the scales, and it's a nice three quarters of a pound off this week. Quite pleased with that. :)

Been thinking, I've got two more weigh ins now before I have my weekend away in Aberystwyth. Hoping that I can get to my 10% mark by then, which is another 2.5lbs. Fingers crossed I can do it!

Thanks. :) I think I can get there. Just got to get through my mum's birthday and a trip to London in that time, but that should be fine...got plenty of WW friendly options in mind, so should go good. :)

Just a quick inquiry too for all readers. I've picked up a guinea fowl to try for Sunday, as it was reduced and I've never had it before. Now while eSource does have Guinea Fowl in the thing, it's for raw meat (10pp for 275g)...and we're sharing this fowl (as it's a bit big) between three, so it's going to be difficult to work out the weight of my portion before cooking. I'm thinking of pointing it as if it were cooked duck breast, as it's a bit fattier than chicken. That sound reasonable?
