Summer's weight loss journey - one day at a time

Apple

L-hard boiled egg and new potatoes with a big salad (1 syn for extra light mayo)

Well yesterday as usual I ended up going off track, Fridays are like my diet failure days and no matter how much will power I try to exercise I always seem to end up messing up. I planned my meals for the day but used my syns on chocolate, which was fine but then we were invited for an impromptu night out. Instead of being sensible and driving, sticking to diet coke, I ended up having a large glass of wine, a double vodka with diet coke and a few sips of a cocktail my friend had. Grrrr. I think I ended up using about 30 syns. My only saving grace was that I resisted the pizza everyone had at half 2 on the way home. Think that combined with less exercise this week may mean I'm not happy with the scales on Wednesday, all I can do is try to pull it back....I'm rubbish at reducing syns on other days even when I try and I don't think red will work for next few days as I've shopped and meal planned for EE

Today's diary-

30g honey nut shredded wheat with skimmed milk and a peach

Bourbon biscuit (3.5 syns)

Apple, fat free yogurt, space raiders (3 syns)

Steak, jacket potato (1 syn for light spread), salad and onions.

Options hot choc and kit kat (7.5 syns)

15 syns

Had a nice day today, did loads of laundry and houses things. I made a cake for one of the girls at work who is 30 to take into the office tomorrow, it will KILL me not to have a slice but I really really want a loss on the scales this week. Then I went to town to look for an outfit for a meeting I'm going to in London. Wanted something smart but not too much, last time I wore a blouse and trouser suit and felt so over dressed. Anyway I found a lovely dress in the oasis sale but there was only one, I didn't think it would fit but it did and looks fabulous on!! Size 12 baby!!! Major NSV.

Anyway today's diary

30g choc all bran with skimmed milk and a peach

A bannana

An apple, another bannana and half a fruit scone with no butter (4 syns)

Piece of curry loaf

Cottage pie topped with swede and carrot mash, with green beans and carrots (1 syn for gravy)

Going to try not to use my other 10 syns but will edit later if I do!

Edit to add- had a Freddo bar (5 syns) so total for today is 10 syns

Well done on size 12!! Amazing!!
I've just started squeezing into a couple of size 14's and am over thr moon about it :D

30 syns on Friday isnt bad, 15 extra- take 5 off a day to balance it out? If I were you I'd attempt to save a few syns a day for tge weekend to avoid negative scale results- or if you think you go over- taling 3 syns off a day between sat - weds would balance out the extra 15! 15 syns is only 300 cal extra, not enough for even 1/4 lbs difference!
Mega proud of you for resisting pizza though- to me you didnt fall off the wagon by making that choice, 15 extra syns is redeemable but an extra 30 from two big slices of pizza wouldnt have been! Am really glad I havent come across pizza this year *gulp*
Good luck resisting the cake! X

Thanks Sophie! So pleased about the dress!! WI this week shows 1lb off. I haven't put my heart into the plan since Friday so more than happy with 1lb. Yesterday went to a seriously hard combat class, different instructor and it was tougher. May go again tonight although I'm also in the process of applying for a new job so really need to complete that. We shall see. Will update later with food diary!
Unfortunately I couldn't resist my cake but I did have a tiny piece, I think it looks dodgey if the baker doesn't eat their own product!!

Where did you get he reduced fat garlic bread? :O I want!
Good luck with WI tomorrow. How's stuff at home/with the family? X

Asda! Still 4 syns for one slice but its pre sliced rather than tiny baguette pieces! I think saindburys do BGTY and know track do a light choices one too.
Things at home are better, my grandma had a repeat scan that was focused more on her chest and gave different views which shows that the irregularities are caused by a heart problem she has had since birth and not an embolism or tumour as first thought. This is fab of course but doesn't change the fact she's losing weight for no reason and is becoming increasingly frail.
In other news I have 9 weeks left on my current contract, should find out tomorrow if this will be extended or not. Have applied for another job which I would absolutely love to get but it doesn't close until Friday so just waiting to hear about shortlist.

0.7lb on this week, I think it's all the cake over the weekend!! Feeling dreadful this morning, sore in my throat and chest and cold. Think I'm coming down with something :(. Feeling s bit guilty for lack of exercise especially as I missed my usual Tuesday night combat class, just didn't feel up to it at all.

Aww sorry that you are feelig so rotten! I think it is common to gain/bloat if you are sniffley and have a cold because you retain fluids, so I'd shrug off the gain as that!! Try not.to be so hard on yourself for.missing exercising etc, find motivation to go rather than scolding yourself- you are waaay better than my lazy ass :p

Grrat news about your gran's problem being from birth rather than a sudden health deterioration, must have been scary as hell until you found out. How comes she is losing weight and getting so frail?
X

We're not sure what's causing the deterioration, its likely to be worsening of her existing heart condition.

Still not feeling great, although I think a lot of it is stress! I found out on Wednesday that my current contract will be renewed but I will have to move departments. I'm not at all happy and have stepped up the job search and applied for another post. So 2 jobs I'm waiting to hear about, 1 I really really want and the other is better than the offer of renewing but moving. I took a real gamble leaving where I worked for a temporary contract but I have learnt lots and gained new experience. Really trying not to let my low, stressed mood rule my food choices because typically that's what I've always done.

Have had 2 really focused EE days, using my syns for chocolate mainly! Weekend will be a challenge as always.

Well done for staying strong minded about food! Sucks that work situation didnt pan out... Why are you so anti moving departments? Just curious.
Fingers crossed about the job applications.

I like to eat marshmallow Fluff out of the jar for a low syn sweet treat when I fancy stuffing myself with chocolate, it's kinda like eating Nutella out of a jar :p 1 tbsp is 1 syn though, which if you use a teaspoon goes quite far ;)

I don't want to leave my specialty because I've spent 6 years building my knowledge, going to uni for specific courses and progressing towards a more specialist role within the field. So to do something completely different seems a waste of time and a huge step backwards.

Focused didn't quite work out...Friday was fab then sat ended up going drinking with friends and I discovered raspberry beer-yum!! Then pizza. Then yesterday was a hungover day resulting in picky food choices and a big roast dinner at moms-non sw style.
Back on it today, made soup for lunch and got everything planned out.

Soup cleanses all! Have a soup and hex day and it'll pretty much be like a JUDDD fast day and will remove all the extra syns ;D
I need to get making soups again now that it's colder but I'm so damn lazy!
