Summer's weight loss journey - one day at a time

I can't think of a specific trigger for craving chocolate or sugar other than PMT...for me I don't think it's a physical trigger like the sweetener in your lilt. Maybe just more of a mental state, once I start to wobble on the dedication I'm screwed!!

1lb off this week. Pleased to have lost and glad it's more than 0.5lb!
Had another great body combat class last night, it helped clear my mind and definitely got me out of the grumpy miserable mood I had been in for 2 days!!

Going to V fest this weekend where I know it'll be hard to stay on track. My plan is to stick with it and exercise all week leading up to it, then eat and drink flexibly over the weekend. Then I'm going to try to do two red detoxy type days on Monday and Tuesday before Wednesday WI.

Still trying with the water, not had my recommended 2.5L now for 4 days so need to get on top of that!

Well my plan for the week went completely belly up...had some bad news about a close family member on Wednesday so have been spending a lot of time with my parents, grandma and brother. Not done much cooking and eaten a lot of comfort food....I'm a serial comfort eater when I'm sad. Also not been to the gym since Tuesday for the same reasons.

The weekend was a nice distraction at V festival. I drank 6 pints of cider across the whole weekend and ate rubbish like burger, pulled pork in white roll, full English breakfast and ice cream. Probably ate a million syns. We walked quite a lot around site and between stages but no where near enough to offset the damage of my crappy food choices.

So WI on weds will be an interesting one. I think probably gained the 2lb I've lost over the last 3 weeks putting me back at post holiday weight.

I really feel like im on a path to dietary destruction :(

Have taken the day off today to recover from the weekend. I'm going to get some ideas, plan meals then shop to the plan. Think some soups maybe good so will get in the kitchen later.

Glad to hear you are getting back on track :) 2lbs isnt much to gain, glad you had fun at V and sorry to hear about the bad family news, want to talk about it?
2 or 3lbs will be off in a couple of weeks so dont stress about it. I guess you have to figure a way around the comfort eating, dig into the emotional reaction and how to get around it or you will be yoyoing with it for life.

I used to comfort eat when bored/depressed but seem to have pretty good control since starting SW, it has been such a new experience for me (being on a diet for the first time)! Comfort eating is a psychological thing though, our body is falsely told it is hungry when it isnt!

Thanks Sophie, some support on here when things aren't going great is very welcome. My grandma went for a CT scan because of unexplained weight loss and she has cancer...not sure where the primary is but it must be pretty advanced because it has spread to her lungs and caused an embolus. She's not majorly poorly in herself at the moment which is good, it means that we can make the most of the time we have with her. I know it sounds pretty grim and negative to talk like that when we don't have a plan yet but i'm realistic and have some background knowledge so I don't expect a great prognosis.
So yeah since I found out i've been pretty down and not sleeping fabulously.....chocolate seems like a great solution for low mood and energy lol.

I've been to Asda today to re-stock as we had literally nothing in, also done my meal plans so that should help staying on track. I'm going to post my food choices later on.

Really sorry to hear that your grandmother is so ill :( that must be heartbreaking to hear and it's no wonder you are struggling to sleep with that on your mind. *hug*

Today we went out for a meal for a friends birthday and am angry at my lack of willpower!! I've still synned everything though (see below) and in my defence, star week has started 6 days early (as if I really needed another thing to make ma feel rubbish!!)

4 mikado (2 syns)

Paprika chicken salad with BBQ sauce on the side, used 1 tbsp (1 syn)

Black Forest gateaux (470 kcal according to mfp so 23.5 syns)

36.5 syns In total

The desert was absolutely amazing!!! Plenty of body magic for me over the weekend and will try to keep it low syns but I think better to use my 15 and be over for the week than feel deprived and end up eating loads of sweet things because I've said "no syns to make up for a bad choice".

I don't blame your will power- every now and again I have a desert and just pretend I didn't :p though I do usually have a low.syn day after. Very wise to.stick to your syns to avoid period noshing/wagon falling. Are there any SW meals that you feel a particular comfort food element from? For me it is potato pancake with pasta :D syn free but feels like such a treat. I try and eat comforting meals around my period to keepe satisfied and full up (do you get ravenous around * week too??)
X

Yeah! I get really hungry and have major chocolate cravings! Comfort food for me is pasta, chilli, curry or proper sweet and sour!!

Today's plan-

Banana and peach for breakfast

Cheese and tomato on toast (HXa and HXb) with a satsuma, an apple and a bag of hoops and crosses (4 syns)

Chicken and chorizo pasta with peppers, mushrooms, onions and passata (2.5 syns)

2 mikado (1 syn)

Chocolate pretzels (5 syns) and a mug of highlights (2 syns)

14.5 syns

2l NAS squash, cup of tea

Body magic- 1 hour Zumba and 1 hour street dance class!

Sweet and sour chicken (Hong Kong style, not the balls) from a chinese take away is my FAVOURITE comfort food!! Soooo good.... Mmmm...
I get so ravenous when on my period that if I don't eat within 20 minutes start to turn into a hysterical, stroppy b*tch! Whenever I snap at my mum she goes "uhoh, Sophie's hungry..." LOL! Cow... :p

I usually get Cantonese style which I think maybe the same? I don't like the battered one.

Did a shift on my old ward this afternoon, just from 1 til 8 but it's a few extra quid towards my car and its nice to maintain my skills and relationships with ex colleagues!

Today's diary

What a positive way of looking at an extra shift :D
Think cantonese is the same, yeah! Gooey chicken in a thick sweet sauce. No idea why the call it sour at all, tastes like utter sugar to me :D nom

WI tomorrow, hope I've done ok because I've stuck to it this week so well other than Fridays desert slip. That said I've only cooked one dinner in the last 4 days :-/

Feeling so rough today! I woke up at half 4 this morning feeling hot and sick :(. Think Chinese before bed probably isn't my greatest of choices. WI this morning shows -1.2lb. Slightly disappointed as sneaky WI yesterday showed a bigger loss than that. I guess that's why scale hopping is such a bad thing. I never used to WI between classes when I used to go to group because I would only use the scales there but since going it alone I tend to hop on them at least 2 or 3 times a week.

Hoping I feel a bit better as the day goes on and for a better loss next week. Only half a lb from my pre holiday weight so only 4.2lbs from 2stone award.

Chinese before WI?! You crazy girl :p that stuff stays so heavy in my stomach the next day, definitely effects the scales. I make a general rule of leaving a full day between a chinese take away and WI as it really does.seem to take a long time to digest.
1.2lbs is still good though! But I understand how you feel disappointed after a week on plan. You'll probably lost an extra pound once the chinese has been pooped out :p x
