Well, I may just have read the book that will save my life. I'm serious, this is the best book I've ever read about how we gain weight, what happens when we try to lose weight on normal diets and fail - and what does work. Be warned, McKenna hates the diet industry with a passion - which might sound hypocritical, but it makes sense in the context of the book.
At the heart of it is that if you eat less, you will lose weight. We all know that, right, but eating less involves hunger, hunger makes you binge, and then you put the weight back on. His book teaches you to reprogramme your brain so you eat normally but in small amounts, like slim people do, and it also reprogrammes you so you hear the "I'm full" bell loud and clear, instead of overriding it.
I'm not saying it will work for everyone, but it made complete and utter sense to me and when I finished it, I actually danced around the living room! I'm going to read it again over the weekend and start the hypno part, so I'll have more feedback for you, but I've not felt this positive about weight loss for....well, forever, really
