Taz's diary - Need to do this!

I think you need to have the results and thoroughly research the outcome - get levels (actual numbers) from her so you can understand fully what they mean x

Sooo the doc called and said that my T4 levels were indeed normal but at the very low end of normal (bottom end is 12, mine is 12.7) but my TSH level was a little high again. T4 is the thyroxine level, TSH is what produces the T4 (I think) so she said there was potential for the T4 to drop so they want me to repeat the test in 3 months! So no bad news there at all. While she was on the phone I asked her some advice about my knee as it has a rash and some yellow bruising has appeared around the wounds but she said it's all ok as long as the wounds aren't infected which they aren't. She said I can expect it to turn a variety of colours before it settles! Can't wait to see what colour will be next :D

All's good Taz - you'll soon be up and running - well........ running might take a little longer x

The knee is looking more knee-shaped but the swelling still wont go :( I am getting around a little easier but I still can't stand for too long and if I do it tires out my other leg and my back also starts to ache from taking the strain that my poor left leg can't take. But as I said, progress however slow is progress.

I did some measurements this morning and I don't seem to have gained any inches which is good. I don't know what the lb situation is but if I can gain no inches whilst laid up I will at least be happy for that

You are eating quite healthy Taz and you are progressing well. Don't forget, I see the progress you're making - you just feel the effort and see how far you need to go - and what an effort you've made. Don't get hung up on the progress not matching the previous knee job - it was more complex this time and all is well. Its SO frustrating being in your position as you are normally very active. Enjoy your day today and I will see you tomorrow

I'm only eating healthy when you cater! Ha ha. Unfortunately when I am here alone I tend to pick on unhealthy snacks, although I do try to limit that. I think I should do some carrot and cucumber batons to munch on and replace that with some of the chocolatey, biscuity, crispy things

I'll do you some carrot and cucumber batons tomorrow if you like - some nice picky healthy snacks x

Probably Nomad - but you have to understand she's been a little isolated and not using her brain as much as usual ;) x

That is a definite possibility!

Yesterday I did prepare myself a bowl of carrot and cucumber batons and put some cherry tomatoes in with them. I kept the bowl next to me and picked at it throughout the morning. It seemed to work, it lasted all morning and kept me out of the kitchen til lunch - which was pasta with pesto, pine nuts and peppers.

You might have something there Nomad x

Well I'm doing well with my veggies! Last night I had chicken with broccoli, carrots, and peas again. I have to have gravy with it to take away the taste of the broccoli as I don't actually like it! But I'm eating it so that's the main thing. Went to visit Gem yesterday (bit of a role reversal!) and we had a very nice lunch of cauliflower cheese and potato wedges. Again, I don't like the taste of cauliflower but when it is masked by the cheese sauce I can eat it. My doctor was quite keen for me to eat more veggies even if that means masking the taste as she said the goodness of the veggies outweighs the few calories it takes to make it palatable. She also wants me to limit my carb intake while I'm laid up and to try not to have carbs with every meal and so far I'm doing good with that.

My aim for when I go back to work is to lose 20lb but I don't know how possible that is at the moment. The other aim is to fit into my size 18 work trousers but I think I need to lose 3" off my bee-hind for that so.... watch this space!
