Looks okay to me hon. I'm in a bit of a rush now though so I'll have a better look tonight.

Just been to the library with the boys and got a couple of GI recipe books out, will peruse them over the next couple of days too and let you know if there's anything devastatingly fantastic (and easy ;)) in them xxx

Sounds good Jan ta :) xxx

looks great Tanya. Keep an eye to portion sizes. 30 g for cereal. 100G for meat portions. drink at least two litres water every day.

Looking good Tanya, good luck with the GI......I am sure it must be relatively easy to follow once you know the rules.

Thanks molly. Will remember that :) What about fruit & veg sizes/weight?

Mary im still trying to get my head around it and don't feel comfy with just winging it at the minute which is why ive gone back to planning ahead.

Quite looking forward to getting back to normality now!

Not looking forward to weigh in next monday, i know there will be a gain but :fingerscrossed: I can limit it with being super this week! :giggle:

This weekend has been a nightmare! When we got home from my sky dive on friday i had to take our doggy to the vets. He had obviously jumped up at the letterbox when the postie came and he had ripped the inside flap off and bent the bar and caused himself a nasy injury. His nail was at a right angle and pouring with blood. That cost me just over £50. Then I had to take him back again today for a check up - he still has the cone on his head but the vet has left the bandage off hoping it will dry quicker - that cost me another £25.

Rents are away on holiday so i'm the only one here - good job i got savings!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also wont go outside the house, i have to drag him and make him go to the toilet. He's moping around feeling sorry for himself.

And to top that my brothers gf wants me to have her dog for 3 days whilst she goes away. I feel like a right cow saying no but i can't let my dog near another dog as its instinct for dogs to lick wounds etc and if her dog starts licking rockys foot it'll get infected resulting in more money.

I also think me and the bf have spent far too much time together and he's really starting to irratate me :(

Nightmare i tell ya!

Hurry up routine tomorrow please!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sigh:

I am in the same frame of mind as you Tanya, roll on routine tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the wee doggie, I hope he feels better soon - bless him.

He's a nightmare - such a hypocondriate!!! (sp?) :rotflmao:

Ahhhh!!! Poor doggie  ... & poor your bank account :(

Hope both are better soon ;) xx

Me too :( lol

Sorry to hear about doggie, hope he will be well soon.
I follow GL which builds on GI in that it takes not only the quantity of carbs into account but the quality of them. Can't explain all the science but it is just a bit more accurate. that's all. Both ways are fine to eat or diet.
The best fruits are any berries and melon, pears apples oranges. Dried fruits and bananas are higher GL so should be eaten less often.
You can have a punnet of berries about 200g or a medium apple or two big plums or a pear for a snack. If you chop these up and add a 100gs yoghurt with a teaspoon of seeds on top, you have a yummy snack or dessert.
Veg wise try to stick to leafy veg or anything that grows above the ground. Stuff that grows underground has a higher carb rating thus a higher GL e.g. potato, parsnip.
Your lunch or dinner plate should have one half with leafy veg or salad, quarter with protein, quarter with starchy carbs.
Try to eat fish and white meat as these are more easily digestible. Even just have mixed beans or lentils and no meat. It is very filling and imo better for you.
I had a spicy chick pea casserole tonight. 1/3 tin toms, 1/4 pepper,1/4 onion, stick celery, garlic, half tin chick peas, 1/2 chilli, ground cinnamon and dessert spoon creme fraiche. It was yum and I'm still full.

Irish, if i was to have just say a mixed bean salad how much of the tin of beans should i have?

I have got a couple cans of mixed beans that are 200g drained weight.

I sometimes have a salad with a handful of mixed lettuce leaves, 1 chopped spring onion, 1 chopped tomato, 2 small beetroot chopped, 1/4 red pepper, 2 gherkins chopped. In a small bowl I put a drained 1/2 tin of batchelors mixed beans. To this I add juice of 1/4 lemon, balsamic vinegar and plenty of ground pepper. If you want a change also add a dessert spoon of sweet chilli sauce.
Put the bean mixture over the salad and yum. Note both lemon juice and vinegar always help reduce the GL of your meal.
Also note, depending on what else you will have eaten for the day, you could make this with the whole tin as both GL and calorie content are fine. Made with half a tin this is less than 200 cals, 300 if you use the whole tin!! Very very filling and verry very good for you. No meat, no bread in sight and you wont miss it. Also eat nice and slowly and dring about 500 mls of water with your meal.

Also meant to add, if you have fresh herbs in the garden, add some like marjoram, parsley, mint. They really lift the flavour of the salad.

O. M. G!

What a fantastic experience! I absolutly LOVED it! :heartpump:

It was such a rush. The freefall is completly out of this world! Free falling 10,000 ft (2miles) in 60seconds - the quickest 60seconds of my life but the most thrilling. Then from 5,000 ft the parachute got opened, i was able to steer it and we spiraled pretty fast through a very thick cloud. That is just pure amazing. I have breathed in cloud :rotflmao: It's just amazing. I'd defo tell anyone who wanted or is thinking about doing it to just go for it.

I didn't feel nervous one bit, well actually as i stepped on the plane my thought was omg im guna do this then i was completly relaxed. I was first out!!!!!!!!!!!! I got told as it was my birthday it was standard procedure that i had to be first! LOL My instructor was amazing. I can't even remember his name it all seems like such a blur. All i know is that my day has been fantastic. Can't wait to book another one and now guna figure out how to top this for next year! ;) :giggle:

So, as per usual food isnt that great today. Had 2 hot rolls with butter before setting off this morning as it was an early one. A packet of hula hoops then we went to frankie and bennies for lunch. garlic cheesey mushrooms to start, 1/2 cheeseburger and some chips for main and 1/2 a waffle with 2 scoops vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce.

Me and the bf have a 40piece indian selection thingy for a little nibble tonight, just stuff like onion bahjis, spring rolls, samosa's ... can't think of what else is in it with some mango chutney and some lime pickle. Twas reduced in sainsburys to £4 so that is more than enough for us 2. We will probably still be eating bits tomorrow and sunday! :giggle:

Naturally i had to open the box of chocolates the bf got me! He also got me a beautiful pandora bracelet with 2 charms. I have definatly been spoilt this year!

Right guys, not sure if i'll be on much this weekend. Got a wedding to go to tomorrow :)sigh:) and sunday is a cosy chill out day.

Back to normality monday - actually quietly looking forward to it!

Here's a couple of pics from today. Sadly none in the sky as i couldnt afford an extra £130 just for some photos :( Maybe next year ;)

(1st one, harnessed up ready! 2nd one, sitting down on the plane, 3rd one just got back as you can probably tell from our smiles!!)

WELL DONE !!!!!! I couldnt remember when it was but was sure it was Monday you were doing it. WAW!!!! That sounds amazing, BUT I am one big coward and no way could I do it...so, well done !!!!!!! It sounded amazing and you sound as though you were buzzing with total excitement!!! Yes, roll on next year :) TANDOM :)!!!!

Just read your menu for the coming week and looks good and would have said the same as Irish re: cereal portion sizes, but as usual good old Irish (young, should I say) :) has given all the details, etc....arent ya good!!

I was reading about GL the other night, cant really quote the science either but this is being pushed more than the GI...I would have a wee read up on it so that you maybe understand it a bit better.

All in all, the GI releases the carbs so much slower and therefore you dont get that rush of being hungry, etc.....I wouldnt leave too long between your meal/snacks either..is it something like not leaving more than 5 hrs between each or is it 4? Not sure.

I am sure you will do well on this, just remember though Tanya..something that is actually helping me; might help you here....nothing is out of bounds, no one is saying you cant have this or that...you can, but you are chosing to eat the GI way because this is what you feel is best for you. In some ways allowing yourself the right to eat if you want, seems to stop you actually eating the wrong things..am I explaining this well enough? I know this is what is helping me! I look at something and I can have it! It isnt that it is wrong or bad or not good for me and out of bounds....but, I think "what are the consequences if I do have this"!!!! And usually 9 times out of 10 now, I choose what is best for me! A bit waffly, as per usual!!

Your poor dog; what a nightmare! Is he prone to jumping up at the letterbox? Anyway you can put a cage round it or something to avoid this happening again? No wonder the poor thing is feeling sorry for himself!

Well, I would tell the bf sister that you cant look after her dog. You arent being a cow, you are being realistic and looking after your dog first! Sure she will understand. And re BF, that can happen so maybe you just need some ME time and normal routine to sort that out.

Have a great week and hopefully I will get back on again...having to speed read all the posts ;-)!!

Good luck for the run tomorrow. Your food looks fine. You could even have half a punnet of strawbs after your cereal. You are not having too many snacks and they are very healthy choices.

For the first time in a very long time today i actually felt as though i was on a diet ........ Im not sure whether its because im thinking too much about this GI way of life or whether it was the situation i was in - at my friends, being offered chocolates etc on the very first day of eating a new way :sigh: who knows!

Have had 2litres of water so far today. Will have another 750ml in work :)

Or maybe it's coz you're on a diet ..... ha ha ... sorry hon - couldn't resist that ;)

It's just you getting back in control ... you'll be fine xxxx
