Thanks Mary .. shoulder feeling much better today. Hope your electric goes back on okay promptly, it's amazing how much we rely on it.

Thanks Nelli, Have yet to phone hospital but am wondering whether to bother them now as it seems to be very much better.. I'll see.

I think gentle aqua fit might help your shoulder, but maybe you can self-refer to physical therapy.

I'm surpassed they do not have "supply" home help.

I'll bet the gardener just wanted you to know that you'd be paying to tend what wasn't your responsibility. However, I understand why you'd do that. Where I lived in England before used to clean the little play area next to my house.

Thanks for the suggestions Mel. I would really love to be able to get back into some sort of swimming altho' I know aquafit is not that but just exercising which is a start.
Home help is done by me privately as I got so fed up with the continued questioning of my personal finances and abilities which in the end turned out that I would be allowed about a couple of hours per week just for things like getting dressed which is not at all what I wanted. As I get disability benefit paid to me I figured it would be more appropriate to put it towards my own help and get what I want.

Well.. had a bit of a bummer news.. woman who I was waiting to call this afternnon about the gardening phoned me to say that she had contacted the council who..of course .. wouldn't give her permission!! I was soo annoyed that I slammed the phone down as I felt she didn't believe what I had told her and after all..who's to know that it wasn't me that had done it. On the other hand I realise that as they are setting up a business they would want to be legit... but stupid ejit!

So phoned my hairdresser who very kindly fitted me in at 4pm.... (bit I'm still annoyed)..:argh::argh::argh::argh:

Made a toad-in-the-hole for my meal this evening which turned out very nice.

I'm sure there are cowboys as you put it but it's getting someone who will be bothered to show up! I had at least 10 replies to my advert and answered most of them making arrangements for them to either call or phone me but not a one followed thro'!! I often wonder whether they do it just for the fun. I had exactly the same happen when I advertised for a home help as well.

My hairdresser always does a great job and I am certainly well pleased with it. Shame is I usually am quite restless at night so it doesn't stay looking great for very long.

Morning Emm - shame about the gardener - it seems to be across the board with work these days though.

We finally managed to get a technical trainer who started on Monday - after FOUR months of advertising in the business papers etc. This time we had five good applications. We have another ad running again today for a sales person - a position we've been trying to find the right person for since the second half of last year. The first time the ad ran, we got about 30 replies most of whom had no experience (duh) J set up interviews for 8 people and only two showed up. One of the two was just being nosy and the second asked about the "excellent package for the suitable candidate" and was miffed that it didn't contain a percentage of the business (seriously) !!! Each time unemployment is mentioned on the TV, I go crazy :)

I know that this week we will get a application and cv from one guy - because every time we advertise he applies. He is unemployed and I cannot see why he should be because his cv is good. First time, we wrote offering an interview but we did not hear back. Second time, I phoned the mobile number on the CV - no reply. Intrigued I tried several times - emailed him - wrote again - still the applications came in when the ad ran - by which time I was really getting annoyed. Then one of the girls said that as he is unemployed he has to apply for x number of jobs each week !!! Timewaster.

Morning Mel.. Thank goodness that at least I do now have a decent hairdresser who I go to..and that after having had a rather trying experience at another salon... hey ho!

That point about having to apply for a certain amount of jobs has entered my mind as well... Bl$$dy infuriating isn't it?

Just rang the hospital about my pacemaker problem as I have had a very bad night. I could not lay down at all as it was so uncomfortable and painful and I also keep getting really sharp stabbing pains which stop me in my tracks when they happen. Spoke to a technician who said that as the site itself is okay there is nothing they can do and to just take some painkillers. I explained that I DO take regular painkillers for my back problem to which I was told to persevere as it was early days. I had to get quite snotty with her and reiterated that I slept sitting up in my chair all last night which surely I should not have to be doing! Finally she agreed for me to go in today to have it checked at 3pm.. here's hoping they can find out what's going on.
 
Hello Emmaline. Im so glad you persevered and managed to get in at the hospital. Im sure you need to see someone. It cant possibly be right that you have to sit up all night!!! Good luck with the hospital visit. I hope they have an easy solution to the problem.

Thanks Mo.. I'm really hopeful that they will be able to see what is wrong. I'm thinking that if they don't what shall I do as they are only going to make a test of the device which wont necessarily show up whether things have moved or not... feeling quite apprehensive. :sigh:
 
I can understand your apprehension. Surely if they can't see the problem they must get a doctor to see you. Is there an A&E department there? If you dont get any satisfaction from them then maybe you shoukd go there??
 
If all else fails then yes. If you are going to the cardio thoracic department then you have the people on hand that you need. Great! They must have come across this before and therefore know the solution.

That was quicker than I had expected!..Was told to be there by 3pm, arrived 2.45 and was seen immediately. Young woman tested the pacemaker which I was sure they would do first..and everything was fine so then proceeded the patter about how it's early days and take some painkillers etc... but I said I wasn't at all happy with that and wanted to know why I was getting this pain and the sharp jabs. She then went off and got someone who I presume was head of the department who..after going over all the readings then proceede in a much more patronising manner.. to say exactly the same. It was then that I got very upset and .. as is my wont.. burst into tears demanding to see someone else who knows what they are talking about!.. not very good thing to do but at least it got results as within less than 20mins a surgeon who I recognised came to see me. The final result is that if things do not settle down by next Tuesday I am to give them a ring and they will arrange for me to go in and have the procedure redone...Yay!!
 
wonderful!!!!! fantastic!!!! well done!! I am so pleased for you. That is the best result possible. Ive been wondering all afternoon how you were getting on.
 
I hope it settles and you don't have to have it redone -- but yay that they agreed to it (if needed).
 
Friday 7th March 2014

What an eventful day... really pleased with the outcome of my hospital visit apart from the fact that I didn't have to wait for a long while. Perhaps now I am not feeling so worried about things it may well settle down..( she says hopefully!)

Had a nice chat with my D Sandra and received an e-mail from my other D as well.

Also had a very nice response from the Theatre Royal with regard to getting my ticket exchanged as I wasn't able to get to the ballet... I can now go to see something else and..all being well.. there's a very good show of ice skating coming soon which I would love to see.
