JanD's Maintenance Diary. Week 38 onwards.

Yup 84 today - I only know the age coz my Mum was born the same year - I'm not a fanatic or anything ;) xx

PS - I have to take photos of my paintings to send to my friend who might be selling them in her shop so I might post them. You have to bear in mind that my friend is a witch (yes honest!) so they are pentograms and the goddess symbol etc, just a bit different because they're personalised. xx

Ooooh yes do post them up in here Jan!!!! :) :) :)

Gosh, I soo admire anyone who can paint. It is a lovely talent. I love the shades in your pictures, they are not harsh and look so gentle. Your friend will be well pleased with them.
Does the painting keep your mind off food lol.

Ah thanks Irish ... I'm only a beginner really!

I can't say it does keep my mind off food in fact today it was quite the opposite as I said above! The times goes quickly though!! ;)

How are you finding the GL-ing? xx

Thursday 22nd April

I'm afraid 'Fred' took over for a second at my Mother's this morning and I had the crusts off a piece of toast that Mum left. I DID stop him from carrying on and having anything else though! As a matter of fact I'd forgotten about him - as soon as I remembered him I was fine ... weird!

Breakie - 2 weetabix, blueberries etc

Bed

Tea - Baked salmon, roasted courgettes and Leeks, boiled and then sauteed and a spoonful of low fat creme fraiche added.

I've brought to work another dish of the left over turkey 'stew', a pear and some grapes. xx

Edit - small handful of cashew nuts

So thinking of Fred is really working then Jan? x

Sort of ..... When I really think about 'him' ..... trouble is when I forget .. I know that sounds mad but it wasn't till I just read your post that i realised I hadn't given him a thought when I just had a pkt of Go Ahead Yoghurt breaks . However I think I probably would still have had them because I was actually hungry. Sometimes I think I shouldn't eat grapes, I don't know what it is - or whether is psychological but they seem to make me hungry ... hungry? or want something? I'm not sure but I really wanted something just now. I don't normally have grapes in for that reason, if I have any it's usually at Mum's but I got some last weekend for the cheeseboard so I've been finishing them off. Don't know whther maybe they're just too sugary.
Or it may be absolutely nothing to do with them and just one of 'those' days/nights. I DO know I need to keep a closer eye on Fred and have words with him - see what it is he REALLY wants ;) xx

I guess its part habit too ... trying to get into the habit of remembering Fred. Guess its something youve never done before and once your in the habit of remembering him, and 'talking' to him and telling him to 'sod off' :giggle: then im sure all will be ok. (this is what im hoping anyways!!!)

You could be right about the grapes though. I try to avoid them where possible to as once i start with them i just want more. It could be the sugar in them that starts you off. I know they certainly start me off so i don't buy them. If i do its usually on a sunday, hungover where i will munch the whole bag  and they have to be red! Green, i can leave no problem haha

Im off to bed now my sweet, 'see' you tomorrow :)

p.s ..... make sure Fred knows his place when you get to your mums this morning! :) hehee x

LOL! Aye .. I'm gonna tie him to a chair xx

Yay! That sounds good  That's the other thing you teach Fred. How to stop after a 'bit', because sometimes 'bits' are nice:)

See, you don't always have to stop Fred at the beginning of his routine. We also have to teach Fred new routines that stop early. So one of x, then stop.

This is what I did with crisps, which were a real trigger food for me. One always = about 6 packets. Now (after much work:sigh:) one = one.

I didn't want to knock crisps on the head forever. I just needed to teach him how to stop.

But yes, it's easy to forget Fred. We are programmed to let him do what he has learnt to do. It's how we get through the day. We don't want to be consciously thinking about every little movement. Imagine how stressful it would be if we always had to be aware of what he was doing.

Thing is, there is no failure with teaching Fred. Every time you remember him and work on retraining him, is a step forward. And when you don't...you don't. Trick is to remember and take over as many times as possible, because each time, you'll build on a new routine that says "see x...move away" or "eat one = stop"

Grapes are tricky I find. Some in a bowl, but the rest away. Otherwise, the whole bag disappears.

LOL!!! Oh Iris I Really did LOL!! :):):) Here's Fred http://www.minimins.com/bring-your-...0-changing-habits-using-fred.html#post2465419
If you missed the posts re Fred you must have thought we were going nuts!!! :)

Friday 23rd April

Mum left all her crusts again - I 'allowed' Fred a TINY nibble off the corner of one. Literally that - and it was enough - just a taste.

Breakie - raspberries, blueberries and ff from frais.

Bed

Tea - Chilli and salad, raspberries, blueberries & ff from frais

Baby bel light at Mum's

I've brought to work a wholemeal roll with phili light, salad and vlf salad cream, a pear and 8 almonds.

I've just been looking at some photos on facebook - my daughter, daughter-in-law & son-in-law went off to London this afternoon, they're running in the London Marathon on Sunday. I know they're supposed to be carb-loading but didn't think that meant the table full of crisps and chocolate biscuits I could see. I doubt if they'll be able to move, never mind run if they ate that lot!!!! :):) xx

Edit - 2 slices of ham and a handful of cashew nuts

Oh I am thanks Tan  :):)

Busy trying to set up the on-line tracker for DD DIL & SIL running in Marathon tomorrow. I'm so proud of them :) xx

Ahhh they are mad though! 26 miles  Good luck to them, although, im sure they don't need any :D

Hmmmm maybe a bit but thanks Tan - I'm sure they'll finish at any rate.

Pkt Skips  xx

OMG!!!!! ... I've been sooooo stressed!!!! Only anyone with a close family member running in the London Marathon would understand!!!

The tracker I was on initially wasn't working properly so I had decided my family had all either broken legs, fallen under the pacer car, decided to leave the country .. or whatever.

Then - THANK GOD - my daughter's girlfriend texted me another tracker which was much better so I relaxed a BIT (but not much) ... then I was squinting at the tv - the live stream - screen split into 4 so eyes darting all round everywhere!!! However I DID see my DIL finish and then DD & SIL (not 'attached' to each other but no matter!) and managed to record it so they can see it too.

Well bugger running it - WATCHING it is toooooooo exhausting ..... **sigh** - had to go to the pub to get over it ;) xx

SO ... Sunday 25th April

Pottered around so much upstairs and setting up trackers for marathon runners didn't think about food till 1.30 so then had

- lentil & tomato soup, wholemeal roll with phili light, salad & vlf salad cream

Tea - Bacon, poached egg, half toasted roll & half tin bbq beans

V&Cs  xx

Edit - 3 crispbreads with houmous & egg & bacon sandwich filler

Only lost 0.4lbs this week. I really need to get a grip and shift these 5-6lbs!
I'm thinking I'm gonna make a huge pan of negative calorie soup and 'do' that for a few days while I'm working. It seems 'cutting back' isn't really doing it - or is doing it too slowly .... still thinking about that.

Monday 26th April

Breakie - 50g granola, raspberries & ff from frais

Lunch (out) - Wholemeal sub with bacon & tomato it had a bit of spread on but very little and I don't know what.

Tea - Smoked river cobbler with half a tin of ratatouille & carrots.

Coupla wine & sodas ;) xx

My marathon guys are in varying amounts of pain today. My daughter seems worse affected. She literally can hardly walk, can't bend her legs at all (I had to put her shoes on for her) she seems to be really suffering bless her. I keep telling her how much she's helped kid's with cancer but between them I think they've decided that next year they'll knit squares instead .... & one of them's male :) xx
