JanD's Maintenance Diary. Week 38 onwards.

sounds like you had a good day today Jan :)

Ah so is that why celery is negative calories then?

xxx

Theory is negative calorie food takes more calories/energy to digest than it contains ..... google 'negative calorie diet' and you'll find loads, however I can't find there the 'diet' I have so if you want it let me know and I'll scan it and send it to you.... don't be paying to download stuff! xx

Sorry Jan, but there's no such thing as negative calorie food. Some foods take a small percentage of calories to digest. Some foods take a larger percentage to digest (called TEF, by the way). Celery, though it would take the larger percent, it would still only be about 35%. For it to be a negative, it would need to be over 100%.

Mind you, celery is nice :)

EUGH!! NOOOOOO celery is NOT nice ;) xx Blurgh!

That's why I said 'theory is' KD - I take all these things with a pinch of salt (well actually no I don't use salt .. but you know what I mean)

The 'plan' I have is called the negative calorie diet and it does work - as does anything if you stick to it. The 'Fat Burner Food' book is spouting the same theory and reminded me about the lovely veg soup on the "negative calorie diet" which I decided to make again and is simmering on my stove as we 'speak'. :)

The example cited in that book is a portion of brussel sprouts which they say contains 50 cals but takes 75 to digest thus burning 25 cals of body fat .... don't know how they know .... ;) xx

Ooooh goats cheese is one of my favourite things!!

I KNOW - I love it too and I was well aware that the portion was WAY too big - it was like a whole round that you'd buy in the supermarket but it was GEORG!!! :) xx

Ah but its one of them things you cant just have a little of!!!!!!!!! :)

Yeah - that's why I stopped buying it! ;) x

Nah, and I read the first book on this "the negative calorie effect", think it was called. But it's just impossible IMO. The TEF of foods can't be more than 100%

For more reading on this, search negative calorie myth ;)

Or perhaps we'll just agree to disagree on this one ;) and besides, most foods listed as neg calories are usually pretty good foods, low cal, nutritious sort of stuff so all good :)

I'm not disagreeing with you KD! ... (wouldn't dare  ;) :) ..... only joking!) Just quoting something from the book. Like I said I take it all with a pinch of salt and just because following a particular programme works doesn't necessarily mean all the theory is correct. I'm calling it a negative calorie diet simply because that's what it's called. I followed the 'Pig2twig' diet once - I didn't really think I'd turn into a twig ;):)

As you say - usually good foods so all good xx

It's ok ladies, i'm in the process of creating calorie free chocolate .............................................. ;)

And me and me and me!!!! :):):) xx

Of course! :giggle:

WAW!!! hahaha.......cant wait, cant wait, cant wait!!!

Talking about Chocolate..have any of you tried that choc that was on telly....Waitrose sell it? Cant remember what it is called now...but I bought some for DH and it is about 70% cocoa and he can only eat a tiny square at a time, if that...I have tried it, and I dont like dark choc but this is really nice, although, again, a small square is all I could have.

Charlie choc or something like that it is called!

Ooooooh sounds lovely Iris. Dark chocolate is my fave!
Think i'll have to look that one up :)
