MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

Had a very lazy weekend - shopping on Saturday, followed by a burger
and a beer and a Gu chocolate pudding with cherries in kirsch and greek yogurt. Also had an oat and fruit bagel with butter for breakfast, and a good handful of cheddar and onion chutney crisps in the evening.

Sunday's food was very snacky, and we just lazed around all day, as next week is half term, so I can catch up on housework etc., then. Bagel again for breakfast, two pieces of multi seeded bread, toasted with cheddar, tomatoes, red onion and HP sauce, three jaffa cakes and a mcvities fudge cake bar with a coffee and cream. We were planning spicy meatballs and noodles for later, but changed our minds and instead had one pancake with lemon juice and maple syrup, then the belgian chocolate mousse pudding that was left over from Valentine's day, with cherries in kirsch and a spoonful of cream.

I'm pretty sure that lot would have taken me over my sugar allowance for Sunday!!

Had a lovely day wandering around a local town that I don't go to very often. Did a little shopping - got a tagine in the local Factory Shop. I've wanted one for a while and this was reduced to £7! Picked up a bargain throw, some new make up and other bits and pieces, then popped into Morrison's for some odds and ends. The haul included some smoked feta and some rather tasty looking sausages, plus a yummy looking garlic bread, soft liquorice, avocados, proscuttio, melon, rainbow trout, mackerel, parmesan, dates, ainsley harriott couscous and buttermilk, and I shall enjoy them all!

Change of plan for tomorrow as OH is on standby, which probably means he won't have to go into work, so as it coincides with my pay day we'll most likely head out for a trip to the coast and something to eat. I have not been counting my cals on my UP days as I am hoping that I will find the right balance, but if I don't lose this week, then I may need to start counting them.

Calories for today's Down day

Quarter pounder beef (well that 's what it said on the packet!) burger with salad of lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, red onion slice, cucumber, two green and two black olives and low fat salad cream.(336 cals)

3 dried dates and two cups of earl grey tea with milk, water (105 cals)

Total 441 cals.

Sounds like a lovely weekend and day yesterday. The shopping sounds great, always fancied getting a tagine myself, although generally i find I don't really like morocan food so I am probably better off just using my lovely purple le creuset casserole for stuff, but I do like an excuse for kitchen shopping! Food shops always sounds lovely. Intrigued by the smoked feta, is that from Morrisons too? Definitely will have to have a look for that. I know alot of people often think about Morrisons as a bit of down-market supermarket but I think they have a much better range of things than the other supermarkets in terms of vegetables, fish and meat.

Great use of calories on your down day. At least if the burger was horse it might be less calories than beef... ;) Hope you enjoy your trip to the coast if you go today. I really really miss being about to just pop to the coast living in the Midlands. Growing up a 15 minute drive to the Suffolk coast was great, I really notice the difference now its 3 hours away :( Hills and countryside has to do for me now instead.

Yes the smoked feta was from Morrisons too. I am seriously considering a breakfast for tomorrow's Up day of avocado and smoked feta omelette with tomatoes and garlic sausage!

We didn't go to the coast yesterday in the end (went today instead, it was b!@@dy freezing!) Yesterday we went to a couple of local market towns and had a wander round the shops... got some spicy sausage and some dried mushrooms from a polish shop. Would probably have bought more but didn't know what anything was! Also picked up a couple of jumpers from the charity shops. Food was as follows

Breakfast -Hot cross bun with butter. Hubs had another one, but I didn't feel the need!
Lunch - two small sausage rolls from local deli
Mid afternoon - large Costa latte and a slice of their lemon sponge cake
Dinner (in the pub again!) - three pork sausages, peas, mash and gravy, served in a giant (I'm talking plate sized here!) yorkshire pudding. A bottle of Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer.

Couldn't manage it all, but really enjoyed picking what I fancied without thinking either 'I must be good' or the alternatives of 'I'm having a treat, so I better order something I don't normally have' and the old chestnut 'I've blown it today anyway, so may as well eat anything and everything!' This way of eating has really brought into focus for me how unhealthy and irrational my thoughts on food have been, even when I was happily following WW.

Down day today - OH started work really early and was home early so we popped to the coast today, but it was c-c-c-c-c-c-cold. I'd saved some cals in advance for a small cappuccino, and we both managed to resist the free biscuits - they are in my coat pocket ready for another day.

Calories today were as follows - small cappuccino with two packets sugar (122 cals)

Water and several lemon and ginger teas

Chilli made with tinned toms, peppers, courgettes, onion, small amount of minced beef, garlic, chillis, herbs, oxos - divided it up into 5 portions (317 cals per portion)

Snacks - one dried date (25 cals)

One cup of Rose Garden tea with semi skimmed milk (15 cals)

Totals 479 cals

Finishing the evening with several glasses water and a can of diet cream soda (possibly a few cals in the soda, but still well within my 500)

Not sure what I will be cooking tomorrow, apart from the planned omelette for breakfast, and maybe a fresh cream slice. Toying with something moroccan so I can use my tagine, but can't find anything on the box to indicate it can actually be used for cooking! Apparently some are for use as serving dishes only, and not for actual cooking. :( Will probably try it with some water in it in a lowish oven, inside another dish, and see if it survives!

Friday will be a Down day and I am planning Punjabi prawns for the evening, possibly with a little rice, Saturday (UP), will be some more of tonight's chilli with some beans added in a tortilla or a wrap, sour cream, home-made guacamole, grated cheese, salsa and garlic bread. Sunday (UP) I'm not sure yet - maybe roast pork, or perhaps oxtail stew with dumpling!

My cough has turned chesty and phlegmy again, so I haven't managed the planned 'proper' exercise this week, but have been out 4 days, walking a lot, so hopefully that will be better than nothing!

Oh, and this morning the scales had finally moved in a downwards direction again - only half a pound, but it was the morning after an UP day, so with today and Friday as downs, I'm optimistic for a bit of a loss on Saturday.

Congrats on the weight going down again!

I was out today in Norwich and it was flippin' freezing here too! Hate to think how cold it was at the coast!
Nice cuppa is the best at these times hey?!
Thanks Em Things have been a bit static on the weight loss front, but I am hoping it will start moving again soon. This JUDD/Intermittent Fasting way of eating really suits me and our lifestyle, but I do need the pounds to come off too! I think my body just needs some time to adjust, so I'm not giving up on it yet. I also think this whooping cough is affecting my whole body 'workings' so I just need to wait that out too, before making any other changes.

Yes the wind was bitter yesterday. We were in Sheringham, so I'm sure you can imagine what it
was like there!

What are you doing diet-wise at the moment? Calorie counting?

Upcoming food sounds really good. Yum!

Glad the scales are looking promising for this week, it would be well deserved if you do get a loss on Saturday. My scales were looking good but after my birthday meal out have not been pleasant viewing. Even after a down day yesterday, and given it was a pretty tricky on I feel rather cheated!

I whole heartedly agree with what you were saying about this plan changing your thoughts from that "all or nothing" mentality we all seem to have when dieting. I feel so much more relaxed and in control about food its untrue. And although I am REALLY enjoying things still it does feel like a slightly less important part of my life, which is nice.

Thanks Atomic. Scales were down another half pound this morning, which is good. Hope it sticks for Saturday! Don't write your week off just yet - I find that it seems to take me more than the following down day to compensate for a heavy/salty up day, so it could still be good for you by WI.

Today's up day food began with a Sainsbury's fresh cream slice which the OH brought me in bed at 6 am, with a cup of tea! So I suppose that was breakfast! I had my omelette with avocado, smoked feta, garlic sausage and fried tomatoes as an early lunch, then went out for a wander around the town. Afternoon snack stop in Greggs for a sausage roll and a latte - and I actually left some of the sausage roll, which hitherto has been unheard of in the annals of Moonwatcher history! At the moment a large box of Thornton's chocs is on the table behind me. Previously I either would not have dared to buy them or would be demolishing them now in front of the TV. I have had 5 during the day, and they are not even calling to me! I really love this way of eating.

Neither the OH or I were the slightest bit hungry for a proper evening meal. Will have a quick supper - probably a couple of crispbread with a little cheese, a peperami, a few olives and pickled onions, just to finish the day off.

Good start to today's down day - one cup of jasmine earl grey tea with a splash of milk, one green tea with vanilla and just about to have a lemon and ginger too. That's breakfast sorted then!

Right, I have made the decision - if I lose at my WI tomorrow I will cancel my WW online subscription. I feel that I have settled into this way of eating and that this week has been a pretty fair representation of a 'normal' week of food and meals. I am so impressed with how the last few weeks of eating in this way has made me think and feel about food. If necessary I will count my calories on my up days, but it does seem that the self - regulation I was hoping for as a result of the plan is kicking in.

…and I can then spend the £11 a month on tasty food! Seems like a win-win to me.

I'm also going to step out of JUDDD lurkdom and over the week-end will start a JUDDD diary, so if you follow me here, I'd love to see you in Judddland!

Oh, and today's planned Down day food is...

Lunch (will have quite late to maximise the 'fasting' time span since last night's supper) - half a packet of spice sensation couscous with an ounce of garlic sausage and a chilli chopped in.

Dinner - Hot punjabi king prawn curry (from this month's Good Food mag - although I cut the oil right down) with an ounce (dry weight) boiled rice.

Two small portions of deliciousness!

With a couple of cups of tea with a splash of s/s milk, and lots of water and green tea, the calories will be 487.

Glad your fasting day is being far more successful than mine! Those prawns sound lovely and prawns have definitely become a bit of a fasting staple for me as you get rather alot for your calories.

I had to abandon my fast day due to feeling monumentally crappy by mid morning so think there is definitely no hope for the scales tomorrow. But I guess no loss or a gain on your birthday week isn't the worse thing that could happen.

Fantastic development that you left some of a sausage roll. That really truly is amazing. A big good luck for weigh in tomorrow. Exciting that you have pretty much decided to commit to this plan and give up your WW subscription.

Yes, just seen in your diary that you're not feeling good. Perhaps it's the night without much sleep combined with the day you had with hardly anything to drink. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Yes it was quite comical with the sausage roll. I kept looking at it and thinking how nice it was, and that I should finish it, but just didn't want it!

The Punjabi Prawns were delicious. I cut down on the amount of prawns in the recipe to match the size of the packet I had, and added a courgette instead, which kept the calories down a bit. Am having an attack of the munchies now though and wanting something sweet. Am settling for a diet ginger beer and visualising the scales going down tomorrow!

Well I can happily report that today's WI is down one and a half pounds, so I am back into the 14s once again at 14st 12.4lbs (rounded up to 12.5lbs). I did lose that on my first half JUDDD week and then put it back on again of course! However, as I have already posted, I am going to bite the bullet and go for it on JUDDD. Will start a JUDDD diary once I am on my laptop and can type properly!

Congratulations on the loss! That's really good news.

I keep thinking I should probably move my diary over to JUDDD as I haven't been doing WW for 4 weeks now but I kind of I don't want to start a new diary! I quite like rambling along in my current one...

Thanks Atomic. I was very pleased to meet the scales this morning! Well I have done it. The link to my JUDDD diary is in my signature.

You have probably seen it, but in case you haven't - did you know there is a 5:2 sub forum in the JUDDD section now?
