NannyDoreen & Upndown's daily diaries

Didn't have one in the end, I got a bit of a rush on so I had an omelette as soon as I got in instead.
About to start tea, we have our main meal at 7, I'd much rather eat earlier but oh doesn't get home until then :(
I know you shouldn't look at calories but there are LOADS in mug shots!

No! don`t look at them unless you counting calories. You can`t really do both together. Can you?

Afternoon all.

Went out shopping with my neice - clothes shopping - I don`t like clothes shopping. I bought a new coat, nice and warm for the winter and also a new black 3/4 length black jacket to replace the one I have worn for about 6 years.

Both of them are the smallest size I have bought for a long time. Not much smaller, but 2 sizes smaller and I had a thick jumper on. I am over the moon.
:)

All I need now is a new top for Christmas.

Well done on the new, smaller, clothes :D I've had to abandon a couple of work skirts already but I'm just not prepared to buy new clothes only to shrink out of them in a few months (I am SUCH a skinflint lol)... so I guess I'm going to have to get the sewing machine out and do some taking in <sigh>.

I don't know about you but after a lifetime of diets and calorie counting I find that I know the rough calorific values of most basic foods anyway, which does lead to me keeping track of what I've eaten during the day even on SW. It doesn't lead me to weigh stuff, eat too little or obsess (like I've always done on calorie controlled plans in the past), but it does make me think before I eat something - even if that something is free.

I Have had my other jacket for so long it looks old! So glad to have found a new one.
My other new coat is a sort of blue, but they called it grey - My old one is country green and looking tatty. They are both snug fits with a jumper underneath so unless I have some fantastic weight losses they will be fine for a while to come. ------ I would like to think they will be too big in 6 months, but I believe that is unlikely being realistic - not pesamistic.

Happy Birthday to my young Grandson Flynn - 5 today.:birthday:

I've bought some of the Linda McCartney sausages ... might have to try them with bubble & squeak one day next week (if my planned, no starchy carbs, b&s works out this weekend :) ) Would one work as a 'pig in blanket' for Xmas dinner do you think?

Happy birthday to Flynn :D :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLYNN!

And happy new coats to you x
Funny :)

Day started off ok. Got up late and had a nice breakfast. Tidied kitchen and defrosted the very frosty freezer. Then I decided to go and buy some shoes in M&S. Fed up with wearing the same shoes all the time. I ended up buying 4 pairs. They will last be forever. While the money is there why not. The last shoes I bought were cheap ones which don`t seem to be feeling comfortable for long.

I left M&S and thought I would put shoes in the car and then pop to Tesco to get some yogurts ........... drum roll ...........a bag in each hand then WALLOP!! I fell over.

I went down a step that I didn`t notice. Bashed both my knees, one elbow, cut my bad finger ans the two either side of it and a few scrapes besides and OMG does my back ache.

There didn`t seem to be anyone around. Then a lady came past and noticed my legs ( had fallen by the side of a car)
so she stopped to talk to me along with another 4 or 5 folks. They sat me up then helped me to my feet wow I was shaking. One guy got me a trolly to lean on and another lady took my keys and put my shoes in the car for me. After that a nice couple walked over to Tesco with me to get a coffee. Not open, they fitting a new one.!

Anyway they got a first aider to clean me up and went off to do their shopping. I didn`t think I needed a first aider but once they had said I felt obliged. After a couple of plasters I limped round and got a couple of bits. I came home, had some pain killers and thought I would let you all know how my day ended. I think I am going to ache in the morning, but I am fine.

So Mandy, it is now Happy Shoe Day, eh?

b&s is bubble & squeak :) ... Starchy carbs are my nemesis, as in 'moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips' kind of thing so I tend to only have one portion of potato/pasta/rice/pulses a day and I do actually weigh those (raw weight).

BUT - I looooove bubble & squeak so I'm going to experiment tomorrow with a superfree version that doesn't include potato..... cold Mediterranean roast veggies (leek, onion, crushed garlic, mixed peppers and rosemary sprayed with frylight and roasted in hot oven for 40 mins), rough chopped and mixed with carrot & swede mash and pre-cooked (cold) cabbage and broccoli.

Season well, spray a 6" cake tin with frylight, fill tin with mixture, sprinkle with 1 tbsp parmesan cheese (2 syns) and bake in a hot oven until golden on top (I hope lol - this is an experiment after all ;) ) I'm going to serve it with poached salmon fillet I think. I do love my fish!

Doreen that sounds like a horrible experience :( Nice that other people were so nice (don't you think that random acts of kindness to others are really what makes the world go around? ) but scary and discombobulating nonetheless. Are you sure you are OK? (((HUG))) xx

That sounds good Molly. I love bubble & squeak, but have never had it without potatoes. If fact not had it for years. Something to thank about.

Yes I think that random acts of kindness are what makes the world go around. They were also concerned and kind I nearly cried with the comfort of them.

I am ok, thanks for the Hugs x

Oh yes ... that 'if you're really kind then I'll dissolve' feeling :(

I'll let you know how the bubble & squeak goes ... if it works well then it would go really nicely with those McCartney sausages and a poached egg :)

Molly, you hit the nail on the head. That is how it was exactly. Wait to hear about b&s

sorry to hear of your fall Doreen, hope you aren't too sore tomorrow. xx

Thanks Jayne. It is not feeling too bad at the moment. Thought I would be aching more. Have moved abougt a bit so as not to get stiff, might be a different story after bed. Hope not
