Scrumbles' diary...life after losing a third of me...

Morning Scrummie.... Brilliant loss! So impressed with what you're doing!! Where are you getting the carbs from? What have you added? Hope you have a lovely day xx

Afternoon, Di! Not a lot moving at the moment, but it has been, and I'm happy with that.

My extra carbs are mostly coming from things like bigger portions of berries, more onions, more beetroot, more carrots and the occasional oatcake. Nothing very exciting, but then I'm still only at 30g carbs which isn't much in the great scheme of things. Keeps me happy, though!

One G&T - sounds like you did brilliantly well! :)

I guess. But today I'm regretting having had even that one drink because alcohol and Atkins really don't mix for me. However little I have it always seems to have a knock-on effect the next day; I feel out of sorts, I want things I can't have, I want booze again, I want, I want....blech. Maybe I shoulda had the cheesecake instead, lol.

Stats update:

Day 1 - 1426 cals, 28g carbs, weight 179lbs
Day 2 - 1365 cals, 26g carbs, weight 179.8lbs
Day 3 - 1258 cals, 27g carbs, weight 179.2lbs
Day 4 - 1368 cals, 27g carbs, weight 178lbs
Day 5 - 1387 cals, 25g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 6 - 1382 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 7 - 1386 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 8 - 1348 cals, 29g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 9 - 1402 cals, 28g carbs, weight 176lbs
Day 10 - 1358 cals, 28g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 11 - 1361 cals, 24g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 12 - weight 175.8lbs

Exactly the same weight 3 mornings in a row...getting really boring now, lol! I'll be stopping the daily weighing in a couple of days...promise!. That will be two weeks back on Atkins and I was only intending to do it for that length of time. Hopefully the scale-hopping won't have become an addiction...

Hi scrumbles - see you are still our experimental recorder:). Agree hope scale hopping doesn't become a habit - sooo easy to get worked up about it! Health and feeling good needs a scale too.....:)

Okay...this is getting silly now:

Day 1 - 1426 cals, 28g carbs, weight 179lbs
Day 2 - 1365 cals, 26g carbs, weight 179.8lbs
Day 3 - 1258 cals, 27g carbs, weight 179.2lbs
Day 4 - 1368 cals, 27g carbs, weight 178lbs
Day 5 - 1387 cals, 25g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 6 - 1382 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 7 - 1386 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 8 - 1348 cals, 29g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 9 - 1402 cals, 28g carbs, weight 176lbs
Day 10 - 1358 cals, 28g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 11 - 1361 cals, 24g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 12 - 1374 cals, 32g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 13 - weight 175.8lbs

Four days in a row, exactly the same, no fluctuation whatsoever? Not even up? I'd think the scales were stuck except that OH is also weighing daily and he gets a different reading every day. Wonder how many days I can keep this going? :D (not too many I hope!)

Bit up on carbs yesterday, but I'm blaming the gin from the day before - I just seem to gravitate towards more carby things if I've consumed alcohol recently. Feel okay today so hopefully I'll be back to normal with food.

Katie, I so agree - the good thing is I don't really get worked up about it these days. If it was bothering me I would stop, for sure. :)

Only one more daily weigh-in to go and it looks like it'll be a 3lb loss over the two weeks. Not exactly scintillating, but if I could carry on at 1.5lbs per week, that would have me at my first target (12 stone) in about 6 weeks, and I'd be delighted with that.

Not quite sure what I'll do then. I may take an extended break before I tackle the last stone and a half because I reckon that's going to be a beggar to shift...

1.5 - 2lbs is pretty much the ideal loss. It looks like you're going to have lost 3lbs the first week and 1 in (or close to being in) the second, with very little pain or discomfort and a raised level of carbs and more variety of intake. Pretty good if you ask me.

To be honest I think you worry too much about stalls - if they happen they happen but there's no reason the last stone and a half will definitely be difficult. I'd keep going as you are - seems to be working!

I wouldn't worry too much about stalls, you have done brilliantly and i love the way you keep experimenting, I think one of the reasons most diets fail is because we get bored with eating the same way all the time, so mixing it up is a great idea.

I worry too much, full stop.

Anyway, just for the sake of completeness:

Day 1 - 1426 cals, 28g carbs, weight 179lbs
Day 2 - 1365 cals, 26g carbs, weight 179.8lbs
Day 3 - 1258 cals, 27g carbs, weight 179.2lbs
Day 4 - 1368 cals, 27g carbs, weight 178lbs
Day 5 - 1387 cals, 25g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 6 - 1382 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 7 - 1386 cals, 31g carbs, weight 177lbs
Day 8 - 1348 cals, 29g carbs, weight 177.4lbs
Day 9 - 1402 cals, 28g carbs, weight 176lbs
Day 10 - 1358 cals, 28g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 11 - 1361 cals, 24g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 12 - 1374 cals, 32g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 13 - 1452 cals, 28g carbs, weight 175.8lbs
Day 14 - weight 175.8lbs

Five days in a row...do I get a prize? lol

I'm carrying on the same for the time being, with weekly weigh-ins from now on. :)

I'm gearing myself up to getting the walking going again. As bad as I felt during my last proper walk, I feel worse for doing practically no exercise. The cobwebs are building up and I don't like it. I need to get moving.

Evening Scrummie!!! Hope the scales move down again soon! Xx

^^^ I hope so too! :D

I seem to have settled at around 1450 cals and 30-35g carbs the last few days. I wasn't going to up the carbs but Sainsbury's have lots of berries on special offer at the mo, and let's just say I've been taking advantage  (well, summer is practically over so those offers won't be around forever *ahem*)

Walking starts next week - it's official. Temperatures will be under 20C by the looks of it, so that shouldn't cause me any problems. I'll have to start slowly again and build up, which is annoying, but never mind. I'm in no rush...

We should have a little window between the weather being too hot and too cold ;) I went for a 1/2 hour walk a few days ago - sunny when I left, chilly and raining mid way - extremely hot on the home stretch.

Got to love the uk.

Sounds like you're doing well Scrumbelina. Am sure a couple of extra berries won't do any harm.

No such thing as too cold for walking! Well, unless it's snowing - I do draw the line at that :p

Scrumbelina? New avatar had to happen.

#Iameversoslightlyboredcanyoutell?

Missing the goat Scrummie - but Scrumbelina is also cool!! lol

xx

Hi scrumbelina :wavey:

Still here! Got a bit distracted over the weekend, but I haven't had much to report on the food front in any case. As ever, I am boringly sticking to plan, lol.

Weighed in this morning and over the past week I have lost...a pound. Was hoping for a tad more (don't we always:p) but it's better than a gain/sts. Over the last 7 days I've averaged 1430 cals and 31g carbs and if I can continue to lose, even at a snail's pace, at those levels, that's okay. I'm definitely eating enough food to keep me happy and I'm definitely liking the freedom to hoover up those late-season berry offers, lol.

Saw your crumble recipe, ML, so that's now on my to-make list :D Sainsbury's have an offer on rhubarb this week, so time to stock up! Thought I might also try it with blackberries - I absolutely adore them in a crumble.

Haven't done any walking as yet. This is always the way: I start a programme, something happens that puts a halt to it, then I just can't seem to get back into it. :( Oh well, there's always tomorrow...

Morning Scrumbles:)
Thought about heading out to zumba...but too lazy to get out the door lol:)
Will do something tomorrow when the alternative is email/work!

Yay glad you're still with us and alls well. I've had several 1lb losses that were followed up with a 3lb loss later in the month, so see how it averages out.

Crumble was yummy, I'm already plotting when to make it again.

Hey Scrummie! You have done brilliantly to lose a pound on those carbs and cals!! Well done! I think in May and June I was on something like 1600 cals and carbs mostly under 20 and was staying at the same weight - which would be amazing if I was 11st - hopefully when I get there I'll be able to scoff and stay on target- well done you!! xx

And did you? :D I still haven't walked...too warm for me as yet...

I would be gobsmacked to see a 3lb loss in a week - only time I get that is when I'm coming off a break of some kind, i.e. when it's at least partly water weight. I just don't lose dramatically - but then I don't gain dramatically either, so I guess it's only fair! lol.

2lbs of rhubarb arrived today courtesy of Sainsbury's - crumble is being plotted as I write...:D

Funny isn't it? I've eaten less than I currently am, both cals and carbs, and not lost, and I've eaten more than this and lost. Makes no sense to me, lol! :D

But having lost a pound on my last diet break eating around about 70g carbs per day it did seem that I was well overdue for moving on up the carb ladder, so that's where I'm at. I'm creeping towards 35g per day now, so I figure I might as well go with it - if I can lose whilst eating 70g per day and a couple of hundred cals more, why not? Obviously I don't want to knock myself out of ketosis, but I think I have some wiggle room before that happens. :)

It's been a pleasant if unspectacular food day - cheese omelette, chocolate almond bread, meat loaf and salad. Must stop being so lazy and look up some more low carb recipes - there's loads I could make if only I could be bothered :p:rolleyes:.
