Taz's diary - Need to do this!

Not so Yay Nomad! The guy came out and was just about to do the job when he checked the new (old) hob to see if it has a flame failure device. It didn't, and apparently it's illegal to fit one without in a flat! So he had to put everything back together and we now have to buy a new hob as the one we have still fitted is also illegal! We had a look in B&Q and found one we like which comes in a pack with a new oven. We have only had the oven for 5 years but if we are going to get a new hob we might as well replace the lot. The one we are looking at is a Samsung and we are fans of Samsung technology. It's good reliable stuff. All our TV's, Blu Ray players, our fridge/freezer, phones etc are all Samsung :D

Ok, so I know it's early and it's so small it's barely worth mentioning, but today the scales have dropped by a lb. Small it may be but hitting my top weight again was a major depressing factor so moving just that 1lb off of it is a big thing for me. I NEVER wanted to go back to that weight so I am pleased to move back away from it. When I told Mr Taz that I was back to that weight he couldn't believe it and kept saying that I don't look like I am back there so he dug out a life-size cardboard cut out of me at this weight before and we compared it against me and he is right, I don't look like that again! I know body shape can change and when you regain weight it can distribute differently but I was a blob before! I also know that as I still have swelling on my knee and ankle there may be a lb or 2 there but that won't account for much of it.

The real depressing thing was I tried on my work trousers and they don't fit
 I have been signed off for another 6 weeks so I have that time to fit back into them. There is no way I am ordering bigger trousers!

It's de-Christmas day today so the tree and decs will come down this afternoon and I will do a proper count up of all the chocs etc that are under the tree. They will obviously have to be rationed! I can't rely on the human hoover (Mr Taz) these days as he too is starting to gain weight! He's not too fussed by it but more and more he is getting rid of clothes that no longer fit him. He has always had a bad diet and relied on his slight figure saying that he is not unhealthy as he's not overweight! That, as we always said, is now catching up with him so I am trying to help him eat more healthily but he is so fussy it's a challenge.

As much as I love the Christmas and new year holidays there comes a point where normality HAS to return and usually I crave that normality when I see the weight I've gained! So back to normality it is and I am hoping to lose at least 4lb this week :D

Well done setting a goal Taz and as they are squatters 4lb should be doable once you've served eviction papers - good luck x

Well done on losing the 1lb Taz, it all helps and mentally makes such a difference. Good luck with the rationing, something I need to do too. Have a good day x

Another one gone today so that's 2 left to leave this week. If they can take another with them even better!

Got the tree down yesterday and sorted all the chocolates that we have left. It's not quite as bad as I thought, I put them in a bowl so they are to be picked at in small quantities :D Got a huge amount of sorting and tidying to do here so I think I won't get too bored this week. It's back to normal now so the long lonesome days lie ahead. I can't wait til I can drive again so I can have some independence back!

You need that rest Taz - Rest a bit, potter a bit. Enjoy x

That's what I intend to do Gem. Just had breakfast, in a couple of hours I will go and make a pasta bake. I have some new smaller lidded pyrex dishes so I should be able to do 3 portions at once :D I had a major washing session (clothes) at the end of last week and it should all be dry now so I will have to sort that lot out too. I had a sort out in my wardrobe yesterday and 2 bin liners full are going to charity. Sadly, a lot of it is stuff I had when I was smaller and there are a few brand new pairs of jeans I never got round to wearing before the weight started creeping back on again :( I'd kept it all as I was determined I would fit back into it again. But, although I am determined I will fit into it all again there is nothing I can't get again so I didn't see the sense in storing it all. I can now fill my wardrobe with clothes that fit me NOW!

Can you keep a couple of the newer jeans and use them as incentive. I have a few pairs of trousers like that - fitting into a couple of pairs already - it'll happen and that will incur cost so you might as well keep the smaller bits you liked wearing and would do again x

I have kept some of the stuff that's a size too small but I had some 2 sizes too small and that's what I got rid of. Mainly because of the space issue but I also thought that by the time I get there again (and I WILL get there again) my taste in clothes may well have changed. I have a LOT of jeans so I'm not going to run out

Hi Taz,

Ive literally just signed up as I saw a few of your posts while browsing the net and wanted to ask you about something, so you coulod say I've only reg'd to pick your brains. You seem like a bit of an expert though.

I saw that you had hypnotherapy in Birmingham. Im really interested in having it as my weight is creeping up - I'm nearly 14 stone. I know that isnt the heaviest ever, but it's my heaviest. Could you recommend somewhere/someone/an organisation? What were your thoughts on it? I feel at the mo that Im hungrier than any points system will allow, and willpower alone just isnt working.

I want to nip this in the bud now before I get any heavier.

Vicki xx

Hi Vicki - I'm sure Taz will be on here soon but she's quite busy at the moment. Stick around on the site as there is plenty of support on here. Good Luck x

Hi Vicki welcome to the forum.

I would recommend hypnotherapy especially if you have specific issues with food but it only works if you are open to it and believe that it will work. I had mine 2 years ago and stopped dieting at that point. I've counted a calorie point or Syn since and I lost a stone in the 10 months after. It started to creep back on though and I think that maybe if I'd have been closer to my therapist I would have had some top up sessions at the point I started flagging. I am now considering seeing someone in my home town to get me firmly back on track. I have also tried the hypno apps which work if you have the time to listen to them every night.

Bottom line: Yes I would recommend it! But I would suggest you find someone who you can get personal recommendations for and someone who is close by so you can have top ups when you need them.

Good luck with whatever you decided to do. There are some specific threads on the forum for hypnotherapy and the hypno apps so have a look around and get involved. When you have made 20 posts you will get more privileges on the forum

Morning all! Another lb has done one this morning, with 2 days til official WI I would love to see the back of another one to make it the 4lb but if I don't and keep the 3lb I will be happy with that. It will still mean I am over my declared weight but it's a loss and closer to where I need to be :D

I had a very busy day yesterday and ended up in some pain in the evening so I have decided that today will be a day of rest. I have some things to do this evening but until then I will take it steady.

Very slowly getting through the left overs of Christmas. I am doing well at rationing daily treats which is not easy when I'm here all day with it all staring me in the face! At this rate it should all be gone by the end of February :D

I know what you mean Taz - OH and I fell into a box of malteasers after dinner last night but Oh they were lovely - and they do have a less fattening centre ;) tell that to my scales  x

There is so much here Gem. We took a bag load away with us when we went away for New year and brought very little of that back but there was still loads left over here. Mostly I am issuing myself with a daily amount so I am not aimlessly picking and losing track. I can make the daily quota last through the day and when it's gone it's gone

I will start doing that next week - although I am being a little more careful this week than I was over the Christmas period - those squatters have to go after all x

Thanks Taz and Gemstone for the replies.

I'll definitely do that Taz. I have tried to find someone around here, but when you see their photo or look at their webpage, they often strike me as someones random uncle - and if the website has a spelling mistake on it then forget it!! :)

I don't know anyone else who has had it done and all the forums I've read, people seem to have success with it initially but then stop posting after a while. I've always been prone to weight gain, but just feel I need something other than just willpower. I've asked to be hypnotised off carbs before, so that I don't have them e.g. pasta as the main part of my meal, but they all say no. Tut!!

Sorry to have gatecrashed your diary... I'll pop back soon and say hello. Good luck to both of you in your weight loss battles/journeys. Taz your wedding photo... STUNNING!!

xx
