That all sounds very exciting taz-do you mind me asking how much plastering you had done and how much it cost ( PM me if you'd rather), We need a bit doing and have no idea on what it will cost ?
Don't mind at all Jane! We had a large patch in the bedroom, the same size patch in the bathroom and a hole in the bathroom filled too. He came in on Monday to strip the walls back of all the 'blown' plaster and to put the bonding on. He left it to dry overnight and came back yesterday morning to skim it all. It cost £160! He said if he'd have done the whole wall ot wouldn't have been much more work and wouldn't have cost much more. We found him on Rated People .com
Thanks so much for that TAz-at least it give me a ball park figure to work on-we have some cracks, not sure if they can be patched or the whole wall needs doing-at least I know now that we wont need to remortgage LOL !!
So do I Jane! It was a lot cheaper than we thought it would be but both quotes we had were similar. Prices may vary depending on region but it's always worth getting a couple of quotes to compare
I'm using rated people at the moment too, to (hopefully) get my back garden sorted out. Had one quote so far and another guy coming round this afternoon x
This guy was better than the last one - at least he brought a tape measure with him and took some photos - and he's got some recommendations on Rated People x
That's good Gem, much more encouraging! To be fair, all will be unrated until they get their first job from the site but if they don't suit you or you don't get the right vibes from them then you know they aren't the guy for you!
Well I only have myself to blame for this one: I had a totally lazy day yesterday. Morning much like any other, I made my breakfast (scrambled egg on toast) then did the washing up... that was it! The sum total of work completed! I didn't feel bad about having a lazy day as too many days I've been doing too much. But lazy leads into tired and extra lazy. I didn't have the oomph or inspiration to do lunch so I picked all day until about 5pm when I decided I should eat something more substantial but still with no motivation I ended up with dinner courtesy of the Dominos Pizza delivery man. Oopsies! So I guess I couldn't be surprised when the scales laughed and told me that not only do I still have that pesky lb but another one had arrived with the pizza! Damn it, not chance of even a STS tomorrow now
Well I have been much better behaved today. I had toast for breakfast (no scrambled eggs as we've run out of milk) and chicken with oven chips for lunch. Picked a few chocolates but nothing too devastating. I've also been doing some more sorting out in the bedroom
Hmmm well the pizza lb did one but the other obviously got distracted by pizza lb's visit and still hasn't got his friends and gone In short, still 1lb up
It's been snowing here all morning. It's been most entertaining watching all the cars slipping and sliding all over the place! The snow is slowing down now though but it's supposed to be here for most of the day so whether it will pick up again later on remains to be seen!
Snow seems to have stopped for now but there's plenty of it on the ground. Mr Stone came home early afternoon - was glad about that as the roads aren't too good around here at the moment x
