JanD's Maintenance Diary. Week 38 onwards.

Nice to be back Tan :) Wouldn't go to Olu Deniz again but would certainly consider going back to Turkey!

John loves his diving he's done 60odd since he took it up about 5 or 6 years ago xx

:giggle: sweet dreams Jan xx

Jannnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

I havent been to Olu Deniz but the hubby does say it is lovely, but yes, commercialised and for the tourists! I think the only way you can get to know Turks properly (sure Mary will back me up on this), is by living with them and getting to know them...not so much on a touristy basis but just as friends!

It is like most places, they are just for the tourists.....which is a bit sad! OH hadnt heard of the place you mentioned, but it is probably the way I was pronouncing it and he couldnt understand....

I will try and find some photos of where our holiday home is in Turkey! Sure we have taken some photos..you never know....we might be able to arrange something one day :)))))))))

Looking forward to hearing all about it and some piccies...

Hope you are well refreshed now and caught up with your much needed sleep..

Night night, or good morning as the case may be...I am off now, as it is midnight!

Hi and welcome back Jan, glad you had a good time. I cant comment on Olu Deniz as I have never been there, but the place we go to in Icmeler, definitely caters for the tourist, but we stay in the old village, which is definitely more Turkey-ish than the main drag of the place, so you definitely get the mixture. There are still people living up there with the goats and tending to their own fields etc.

Its also just a short drive into the mountains too where you can find some real little gems of a place.

Nice to have you back and hope you caught up on some much needed sleep.

Yes I agree with Iris too, its definitely a different place when you have family or friends in Turkey, I loved my experience of real Turkey when we went to visit our friends family, and we were treated and greeted like one of the family.

Now we just need to find a Turkish family to adopt you both lol.

Have you settled back into normal routines again now Jan?
I know it takes me a good week to feel somewhat normal again after a holiday, and of course its a little longer to get back into pre-holiday eating routines.
You will soon lose anything you have gained Jan, so dont worry too much about those scales until your head is back to where it should be.

Thanks Iris & Mary ... I'd love to experience the REAL Turkey! And I'm sure I will!! :):)

Will ask Tunc about the place you mentioned.......Yes you need to experience proper Turkey, not tourisy Turkey :) :)!!!

Ah thanks very much Mary :) I'll have a good look at them when I get enough time to do them justice! :) - As for normal routines - feet haven't touched  .... straight back into grandchildren/mum .. I'm not complaining though :) ... Food wise .. :( - suffice to say I'm back on Gaviscon, I used to have to take it regularly ie. a few times a day. I thought there was something wrong with me but funnily enough it sorted itself out once my eating/drinking 'normalised' ;) . Despite having to take it again I haven't stopped with the eating/drinking - yet. We're out for an early meal tonight with a freind and I intend to get back 'on the wagon' tomorrow. Back to work tomorrow night too. xx

Good Luck on LT this time round Lauren :) You'll do great - you have added incentive now ;) xx

jan I know you often have river cobbler, I have never had it but thought I would give it try any ideas what I can have it with?

Yes I love it Joy ... ordinary, smoked or lightly dusted. Last night we had the smoked which i sprinkled some oregano over, sprayed with olive fry light, wrapped in tinfoil and put in the oven on 190c for about 20 mins along with some tomatoes, mushrooms and cut up courgette also sprayed with fry light. Easy-peasy and all ready at the same time.
Sometimes I'll do it with stirfry - usually tesco vegetable stirfry to which I add mushrooms.
Sometimes I'll make or open a tin of ratatouille

Anything really but hope this helps ... enjoy!! xx :)

I like the smoked one just steamed, then sprinkled with some herbs, usually basil, but the white one, I love to dip that in beaten egg, coat with breadcrumbs, then just oven bake that for about 12 minutes. I have that with fat free (slimming world) chips and mushy peas.............luvly.

Aww Jan, you might as well finish the holidays good and proper, then tomorrow with being back to work, I am sure you will get rid of that holiday mode and get back to normal.

Gaviscon, not good........I remember too having to take Rennies regularly, and you know like I do, its dependent on what we eat. I am sure you will be ditching that gaviscon tomorrow.

Welcome for the links chick.

Blurgh! Never want to have to take gaviscon/rennies ever again!!! Im sure that will go once you are back to it tomorrow Jan :) x

Yeh, hate that feeling Jan of heartburn or indigestion..makes you feel so miserable! So, hope it goes soon......after my last bad binge I was in constant pain with indigestion....soon as I started eating sensibly I havent had it!!!! So, defo in the food/drink that you are consuming ;-)

HOpe you had a nice meal with your friend...

Isn't it amzing how we've all experienced the same thing - indegestion/heartburn and yet we go back and do the same thing over and over again to ourselves. What are we like??? Sad in many ways :( xx

I know..I used to eat the chocolate Jan and I was just in agony with every bite!! Go figure???????? But, I still kept doing it!

This wiring in our brain :)!!!!

We need to find new electricians :) ... maybe we should check out Uswitch.com ;):) xx
