Doing it all again this morning! The exercise that is, not the food! Lol.

Morning all. Just having a quick bulletproof coffee then hitting the Wii and Leslie. A little bit stiff this morning, but nothing major, so that's good. May add in a few light arm exercises with dumbbells, but nothing too heavy as if it isn't too hot I have some major weed pulling to tackle in the veg plot. Can't believe the size of some of them! They should give me a good arm workout on their own. Also need to make another loaf of bread and throw some washing in, plus plan tonight's food - maybe pasta carbonara with either buckwheat pasta or gf spaghetti from Sainsburys, which I haven't tried yet.

Lots to do, so better get on.

Whew! 45 minutes of assorted Wii and a mile with Leslie done. Did plenty of arm exercises, but without weights as once I started I realised they were quite stiff, so plenty of good stretching for them instead! About to shower etc., then will make a loaf and some leek and courgette soup for lunch. Can't believe where the morning has gone! Very hot and humid here, so will probably leave the weeding until a bit later.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Will catch up later.

GLUTEN FREE BREAD REPORT PART 4

Yay! A bread success. Tweaked the same recipe as loaves 2 and 3 and used yeast this time. No kneading or knocking back - just proved the yeast with some sugar and water first, and left the loaf for one rise in the bread pan on top of the stove top as the oven warmed up. I also made the mix a bit dryer - despite recipes saying it needs to be very moist, the last one was a bit stodgy, so this time I made it sort of halfway between cake mix and dough texture. It looks like bread, rose like bread, cuts like bread, tastes like bread. Actually, texture wise, it is similar to a sort of ciabatta/farmhouse loaf cross. Not quite sure why so many gluten free bread recipes I have seen don't use yeast. Unless it is because a lot of people on a restricted/exclusion diet are also avoiding yeast?

Anyway, lunch today was freshly made warm bread with butter (!) and a bowl of home-made creamy leek and courgette soup. It was preceded by a happy dance round the kitchen and much sniffing of the warm loaf!

I like doing the Leslie videos! The 1 mile is good but the 2 mile is tough going!

i'm glad the bread turned out well :) i had tescos gluten free bread for lunch and it wasnt very nice :(

I like the ritual bread sniffing dance before tasting lol! I think this should be a must each time we eat, just think of all the APs we'd earn :roflmao: You lunch sounds yummy, and YAY! for bread success :D

Very happy for your bread success! Now you clearly need to go into production of gluten free bread. With or without added sofa... ;)

It was very hot and humid here today too, although its really clouded over this evening and I think is due to rain soon. Did you get the weeding down? I am rather fed up with how much the weeds are growing this summer. I only did the front garden 2 weeks ago and it needs doing again soon. I need a pay rise so that i can pay someone to do my gardening for it. I just don't like it :/ Would much prefer to be at the gym.

Well done on the exercise. Its good that you've caught the "bug" again already. I think it becomes quite addictive when all the endorphins when you start. I think sometimes its just remembering how good you feel afterwards when you are trying to fit it in.

Your food yesterday looks and sounds gorgeous. Especially lunch which was be drooling :) Mmmmmmm. Cheese on toaste.

4.00 am was alarm time this morning as OH needed a really early start, so as I was up making toasted cheese and pickle sarnis for him to take for his lunch (torture!), thought I may as well do a quick update.

Last year I was just up to the 3 mile - but think I'll leave that for a while yet!

Yeah, I've had the Tesco one - not very good. I think the best shop bought one I have had so far was Genius mixed seeded one, still not brilliant, but did have some flavour.

Lol, but for some strange reason I can't find 'bread sniffing dance' on the list of activities!

The rate OH is going through it I may need to! He has decided to be my official tester as he keeps coming up with excuses to have some more... 'I'll just try a bit toasted to see what it's like.' 'Well I better take some for lunch - see what it's like in a lunchbox' 'Do you think it will get soggy when it's cold? I better test a bit to find out.'

No, didn't get the gardening done, as had to do a bit of furniture collecting and moving, so was late by the time we got back - ended up with a portion of chips from the chippy, as didn't fancy cooking at 9.45, and needed an early night!

yay for your bread success How was the exercise today

I enjoyed it again. I always mix up the Wii stuff, so it's not the same every time, and once I get going again I'll swap about with some yoga, light upper weights, exercise ball, tai-bo, Let's Dance and the exercise bike and the cross trainer type thingy I have getting dusty in the back-room. Do like a bit of variety! Want to try some Pilates too.

Yesterday's food - Wednesday 14th August

Breakfast - bulletproof coffee (6PP) I know this is technically a drink, but I think of it as more like food with the fat content.

Lunch - home-made leek and courgette soup (made creamy with a tspn of philly cheese), and toast with butter- I may have mentioned the bread already!) :D (10PP)

Dinner - chips - weighed them out to 16PP, followed by just over half a scoop of vanilla ice cream, cooked fruit with sweetener - blackcurrants, red gooseberries and plums from the garden, with a pear from Tesco (!) and a squirt of spray cream (3PP)

Drinks - water, rose earl grey and vanilla chai teas, one coffee and cream (3PP)

Totals - 38PP, 29 dailies and 9 weeklies. Weeklies remaining 9. Exercise - earned around 5 APs in the morning I reckon, maybe a bit more, and did some heavy weights (4 sofas!) in the afternoon/evening! ;)

I am off back to bed with a cup of tea, and quite possibly a bit of snoozing. Not quite such a 'quick' update after all!

Hi. It's basically a strong coffee with ... wait for it... unsalted butter and coconut oil in it. I know, it sounds gross, but don't knock it 'til you've tried it. If you Google it there are loads of sites on it. A lot of then say you have to have a special coffee, or a certain brand of butter to get the best effects. Maybe you do, but tbh I just use what I have! At the moment that is 2 tspns of Nescafe Gold Blend made in a mug, no cream or milk just with water. Let it cool a bit while you put the other stuff in your blender. Then you whizz it in the blender with the oil and butter. I use a dessertspoon of the coconut oil and a tbspn of unsalted butter. Comes out at 6PP, but the fat content fills you up for ages, so it's almost like a meal. When you give it a good whizz it goes all frothy like a latte or good cappucino. You need a blender of some sort for it to go frothy. I have used salted butter at the start, but it wasn't as good. Some people use just butter and no coconut oil.

Sounds weird, but it really works.

Well, I am amazed! Just opened the post and I have a fantastic welcome pack from Coeliac UK. I joined the website for a free month, and thought that you only got the goodies if you signed up for membership. That was OK, as I wanted to look at the food database etc., and wasn't expecting anything else. Anyway today I got a really comprehensive 2013 Gluten Free Food and Drink Directory, lists of local support group details, a general help guide and quick check list, money off coupons for Tesco, Waitrose, Warburtons, Nature's Path Organic and others and vouchers and website addresses for free samples. Apparently, membership is free for the first month, because they feel that is when people need the most advice and support, then you can continue with the full membership if you want. That is only 20 quid a year anyway. Either way, the first pack is free. I was considering signing up for full membership anyway. Think this is a fantastic service though. Off now to claim my free Food samples!

Thursday August 15th

Breakfast -one bulletproof coffee, 2 slices GF bread, toasted, with tspn of butter on each and a scrape of marmite (11PP)

Lunch - two more pieces GF toast (sliced very thin) with apricot cream cheese (6PP)

Dinner - two pieces smoked bacon, one fried egg, loads of mushrooms and cherry toms, one thin slice 'fried' GF bread, oil for frying (spray, but olive oil not fry light so counted) (13PP)

Snacks - greengages

Drinks - one coffee and cream, green teas with no milk, water, earl grey and vanilla chai teas with s/s milk (3PP)

I am aware that I have had bread at every meal today! Will not be making a habit of it, but the novelty hasn't worn off yet!. If it had been normal bread I would be spending most of the night in the loo! Also low on veggies today - hence the big pile of toms and mushrooms with the fry up. No fruit in the fruit basket now either (sob) but can pick some of our plums and blackcurrants tomorrow and some raspberries at the weekend to tide me over until Monday's payday. Frozen veg in the freezer, and 101 ways with courgettes, cucumbers and green beans!

Total - 33PP, 29 dailies and 4 weeklies. Weeklies remaining 5. So far this week have managed about 21 APs, plus whatever I do tomorrow, so pretty happy with those too.

Here is the bread...

Loaf.jpg Loaf cut.jpg

It's not a very tall loaf, but I would rather have one small slice of this than several slices of the shop bought. Quite reasonable on points too as the yeast has given it a rise, so you get a bigger piece of bread per slice, hence you need fewer slicres. I get 20 - 24 thinnish slices for 3PP for two slices. Thicker slices will be about 2 - 3 each. I think I am bread obsessed. It has just occurred to me that I can make GF bread and butter pudding! Bed now, and happy dreams!

I'm so gona google that it sounds strange but I'd try anything once!!!
Yay for the welcome pack and your bread looks fab

The bread is calling to me already, but I will resist! For a while anyway!

Morning!

OH has just left for work and I have a morning in the kitchen ahead of me ... cooking things I can't have. :( He is going away later with his son for a night's camping and then visiting Beaulieu Motor Museum tomorrow, so I am taking the opportunity to pack them up with stuff I can't eat to get rid if it... veggie curry and spinach and cheese pasties to use up the puff pastry, cocktail sausages, mushroom pate (will save a bit of this for me) with ryvita and crackers, marmite and sesame sticks, breadcrumb chicken and turkey strips with dips, trifle and apple strudel. If there is time left then will do some fruit scones, and perhaps a flourless chocolate cake (definitely saving some of that for me!)

So that will be them sorted, but not sure what I'll be eating yet!

Oh my god that's some amount of cooking your OH is one lucky man! It all sounds yum! Don't forget to make something for yourself aswell! Are you doing anything nice while they are away
