MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

Sorry about the gain. At least you know why, and that it's not a 'true' gain. I'm sure you'll see a good loss next WI :)

Keep your chin up Sweetie, I'm sure it's not a 'real' gain and you'll see a good loss next week. X PS-Lucky you with your heated towel rail, id love one of those!!! X

Thanks ladies. Yes, I had a bit of a sulk earlier, because it is never nice seeing a gain when you don't feel you deserve one, even if you know the reason! I didn't let it get me down for long though, so we have been out and got some nice pointed goodies for Monday as we are having a day at Audley End house in Essex, and will need a double picnic for the day, collected the towel rail - it will need a coat of paint, but we expected that, and had a pub meal. Now back in front of the tv! Naturally had to have a testing/tasting session of the gluten free shortbread and jam tart - just to ensure they will be suitable for the weekend and the picnic, of course!

So, food for Saturday 24th August

Breakfast - 2 pieces of gf toast with lavender cream cheese and honey (7PP)

Elevenses - 3 Mrs Crimble's mini chocolate macaroons with two cups of vanilla chai tea (7PP)

Late afternoon pub meal - steak, jacket potato, peas, tomato, a little blue cheese and pepper sauce, diet Pepsi (16PP)

Coffee and more at home - one coffee and cream, one gf shortbread and one gf apricot jam tart (both from Morrison's) (8PP)

Other drinks/snacks - water, grapes, plums

Totals 38PP, 29 dailies and 9 weeklies. Weeklies remaining 40. No APs today - day off!

don't worry about the gain hun we all have weeks like that where we gain for no reason. Chin up. its the start of a new week don't let it ruin your weekend

Mrs Crimbles just keep popping up everywhere! You both need to live near me so u can get the Reductions! X

Yes, they're often reduced round here too. I wonder if it's because they don't have a lot of preservatives in them and so have a shorter shelf life? Gluten free bread is often reduced as well - I got some gf pitttas and some gf Warburton's rolls yesterday - both at less than half price. Into the freezer they go!

Keep your chin up, you're doing everything right and you know why you have a gain showing and it's not a 'real' gain so hopefully next week you'll get a good loss on the scale :) You menu for yesterday sounds gorgeous, I love Mrs Crimbles macaroons too much, wouldn't dare have them in the house!

Yep, I hope so. Will wait a couple of days for stomach to go down and then have maybe a mid week WI. I think it will show once the horrendous bloat and inflammation goes down, and that will spur me on for the rest of the week. Or I may just wait and hope for an extra good surprise on Saturday!

Fortunately the OH finished off the mini macaroons and the jam tarts and treacle tarts are in the freezer, so the only thing I am doing battle with today is the gluten free shortbread, which is gorgeous. Had one and a half first thing - gave the other half to OH to try - and now they are out of sight in the pantry. They are only 2PP each, so not bad for all butter biccies, but I could easily eat the whole packet (6 left out of 9), so have to pace myself.

Moonwatcher would you mind explaining the basics of WW PP's to me as quite unbelievably I have never tried it, I am investigating alternatives to IF at the moment as I'm not doing it properly and the weeks are going by and I am losing/gaining the same weight, I'm also not feeling in the best of health with it and think it's causing me a some issues re stress/anxiety

Well each food is allocated its Propoints value on the basis of its protein, carb, fat and fibre value, with fruit and veg free (except starchy veg like spuds, sweet pots, peas etc which do have points) Your daily allowance is worked out from your height, age and current weight (minimum is 26 propoints a day for smallest, youngest etc) and then you are also allowed a weekly allowance of 49 propoints on top of that to have whenever you want. The daily allowance goes down as you lose - I was on 34 a day at the start, now do 29 - but the weeklies stay at 49.

It is basically a calorie controlled diet of course, (and as a rough guide one Propoint is approx 40 calories) but in what I think is a much more 'user friendly' way, and the weekly extra allowance makes it liveable, as you can use them on a meal or two out, takeaway. wine ... whatever you want.

You can sign up for the online version, which is about £11 a month, which is what I did last time, and you get access to the points and recipe database etc., and to work out your daily allowance. There are often good deals for this on Quidco, or direct from WW too. This time though I downloaded an app called Ultimate Food Value Diary for about £2.50 and that, with minis, is all I need really. There are online calculators where you can work out what your daily points would be if you want to take a look, but try and get the link to one from on the forum, as otherwise you may end up with an American one. Or if you want to give me your details (age, height, and current weight) I'll enter it into my app and tell you what it comes up with. PM me if you'd rather.

Forgot to say that you earn what are called activity points for exercise, which you can use for food if you are desperate. Most of us on here don't actually use them, but it is a bit of a safety net, and nice to know that if you go a couple of points over, then they are 'covered' by your activity points. More of a psychological thing really, as 80 calories for instance is not going to make you gain loads one week, but if you know your activity points are in the bag, then you wouldn't feel you had blown it I suppose and of course the exercise is good for you anyway!

Actually, thinking about that as I type, I think the whole plan is very cleverly worked out psychologically - with the weekly extra allowance feeling like 'treats' and the activity points making you want to 'earn' another one... very clever really.

The WW part of the board here is quite busy and very supportive too.

Anything else you want to know, just ask!

Yeah I find WW really easy to get on with, and doesn't feel like dieting at all. I've lost weight eating takeaways, Nandos, pub lunches and dairy free chocolate!

MW, you are a flippin shiny shiny star, I have downloaded the app you suggested and been round barcode scanning my whole kitchen!! What a clever app, and at last a proper use of my flaming phone!! According to the app I am allowed 31 PP, I shall do absolutely fine on that as what I had planned today is only 22 so plenty left to add in a bit of extra protein with dinner, from what I can see a small measure of vodka is 2PP's does that sound right?, because 49 weeklies more than accommodates my weekly needs ROFL

Oh brilliant. I use it all the time. The only thing to watch out for is some of what I think is user entered info isn't always that accurate, but you can usually see which ones are the 'proper' ones because of the format they are written in. Also, if you've been dieting for a while you get a feel for if it makes sense or not IYSWIM. I think it is a brilliant app though - sounds like you are now a 'super barcode scanner woman' - will have to put your knickers on over your trousers soon! LOL!
Yep, standard pub measure of vodka is 2PP, so 49 weeklies should keep you going for a while!

I can see I will get on with that no problem, I only really have Thursday night and Friday day time to contend with in a week, the rest of the time I am quite saintly so IF isn't suiting me anymore and with SW my plates were getting bigger and bigger LOL

Definitely understandable to have a bit of a grump at the weigh in result, even though you know the reason for it. I am sure you'll get an excellent result next week to make up for it though.

All this talk of macaroons and shortbreads is making me very very hungry!

yeap 2pp for a voddie great value
I have that app aswell and its brilliant id be lost without it

So is it an official WW start then LW, or are you still sussing it out?
