MWWWD (or Moonwatcher's Weight Watchers Diary!)

yeap 2pp for a voddie great value
I have that app aswell and its brilliant id be lost without it

It is great isn't it (the app and the vodka haha!) I can never get over how cheap apps are for what they do!

Definitely understandable to have a bit of a grump at the weigh in result, even though you know the reason for it. I am sure you'll get an excellent result next week to make up for it though.

All this talk of macaroons and shortbreads is making me very very hungry!

I did give in to a couple more of the shortbread with my vanilla chai tea this afternoon. I keep planning to make macaroons, but the Mrs Crimble's ones are so good I just buy them instead!

So, food for today - Sunday August 25th

Breakfast - one and a half gluten free shortbread (2PP)

Lunch - bacon butty with 3 slices gluten free white bread, bacon and smoky BBQ HP sauce. This was a freebie bread that I sent for from the coeliac welcome pack. It was good toasted yesterday, but a bit of a disappointment as a bacon butty. I won't be able to buy it anyway, as it is prescription only, but as OH said, that's not much of a loss! Plums (12PP)

Dinner - one and a half chicken thighs, roasted with Indian slices (mainly tandoori, but a few other shakes from a mixed pack where the label had fallen off, so not sure exactly what it was!) Butternut squash wedges with thyme and sweet paprika, green beans and fried courgettes, squirt of low fat mayo and a couple of sprays of olive oil for the wedges and the courgettes. I took the skin off the whole chicken thigh, but ate the little bit left on the half. Plums (9PP)

dinner.jpg

Snacks and drinks - milk in several earl grey and vanilla chai teas (2PP) one coffee and cream (2PP), 2 more GF shortbread biscuits (3PP) water and l/c tonic water, plums

Totals - 30PP, 29 dailies and 1 weekly. Weeklies remaining 39

The reason plums feature so heavily today is because we 'harvested' the plum tree today - we have a few! They will have to sit on the worktop Iomorrow as we are out all day, but the next day I will do some freezing and cooking, probably some Chinese plum sauce, although I think I still have some left in the freezer from last time! I also have some plum brandy, so don't need any more of that either. It is a prolific little tree!

View attachment 104545 Plum crazy! (Not sure why, but this thumbnail won't show up properly - just coming up as a link instead?)

plums1.jpg One of our tomatoes sneaked into this one. See if you can spot it. Haha!

The plan for tomorrow's double picnic

Picnic number one at lunchtime - 2 roasted spicy chicken thighs, one ounce cooked chorizo, thin shavings of emmental cheese, black olives, tomatoes, cucumber, gherkins. I was going to have this in a wrap, but tbh I think it will be enough just as a plated salad, especially as I plan to follow it with a GF jam tart and some plums! Tea and or coffee with cream. It's decided - no wrap!

Picnic number two later - Moroccan houmous with 2 GF toasted buckwheat crispbread, sweet chilli Philly light cheese with 2 GF corn crispbread, tomato salsa and tomatoes, followed by a GF treacle tart (which I am ridiculously excited about!) probably some more plums, a gin and slimline tonic.

With GF muesli for breakfast the whole lot comes to 38 points, which will be 29 dailies and 9 weeklies of course. I just need to check the points for the treacle tart when I get the packet out of the freezer tomorrow. For the moment I have guesstimated, based on the calorie count.

Looking forward to two picnics tomorrow!

Double Picnic sounds good MW! I love a good picnic!!! Do u have good weather today? X

So much tasty picnic action :) Its making me really want to try and become a "picnic person"...

How long is it until you are back at work? If that isn't a very touchy subject! Its amazing how quickly long holidays go isn't it.

Just back home from the double mega picnic-a-thon, so will catch up and then update.

I am going to try it today I think and see how I get on with it MW, I've never done it before so I might get it a bit wrong for the first few days!

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it really quickly. Let us know how you are getting on. Oh, and I didn't mention it yesterday, because I didn't want to get you too excited... but you could do a spreadsheet! ;)

It was great fun, although the wasps are about now! It was really hot - a bit misty when we set off, but sunny right through from about 9.00 to gone 5.00. I had to take refuge under a tree a couple of times to cool off!

You definitely should try Atomic! With your cooking skills you could have some amazing picnics!

OH is back next Monday. I get an extra day, back for training days on Tuesday and Wednesday, then the kids are in on Thursday (I think that's right anyway, it's so long since I looked, I had better check next weekend!) Last year I was back for my old post and then went for the interview for my current one in October, so this is my first new school year in this post. Actually I am quite excited - a new year, with new pupils to get to know, and the 'old' pupils gone up a year. They change a lot over the holidays, especially between years 7 and 8, when they come back feeling all mature now they are no longer the smallest fish in the pond!

LMAO I have already updated the database to be both SW and WW friendly, sticking with SW for now and will track my points with the WW app for the week and see how it fits with my eating style.

Good idea. I find WW easier for eating out, and for how versatile it is if you want something quick and easy. SW did work for me and I enjoyed it, but definitely find WW much easier to fit into 'normal' life (whatever that is!)

Night Night Sweetie. Sleep Well. X

I just couldn't stay awake, Serena, but I did sleep well thanks. The nights are getting cooler now, which is nice.

Anyway, now I am awake again, update for yesterday, Monday 26th August

Breakfast was a change of plan as we were packing up to set off for Saffron Walden, and I didn't fancy muesli, so took some gluten free shortbread to have in the car. I had two (3PP)

Got to Audley End house. What a fantastic place. They had a 'Soldiers and Spies' special weekend with lots of displays, games, activities, demonstrations, singing, mini plays, all based around WW2. The house and grounds was a training centre for the Special Operations Executive in the war. It was a really interesting day, and OH was in his element - boys and their toys (!) but because there was so much going on we didn't really get a chance to see the gardens or go round the house properly, so we are going back for another visit to do that, maybe this weekend. Anyway, food was pretty much as planned, although I swopped the picnics round so we had the houmous based one at lunchtime when we had less time...

Lunch - two corn and two buckwheat gluten free crackers (these are brilliant - made by Orgran, I like the texture, and only 1PP for 2. I keep checking that as seems very low, but they are only about 44 cals for 2 and very light), moroccan houmous, light philly sweet chilli cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, gherkins, tomato salsa, couple of black olives, handful of gluten free lemon and chilli flavour houmous chips (like a shell shape, but they call them chips) gluten free treacle tart, plums (16PP)

Dinner (in Thetford Forest on way home) - spicy chicken thighs, chorizo, emmental cheese, tomatoes, gherkins, salsa, few more olives, handful houmous chips again, gluten free jam tart, plums (19PP)

Snacks - none - had all my snacks at the picnics!

Drinks - water, diet cokes, 1PP for milk in teas on picnics, one gin and slimline (2PP) small cappucino (2PP) in the Audley End tea room, but resisted everything else, including their gluten free cakes. I think a treacle tart and a jam tart, plus two shortbread biscuits, are enough cake for one day!

Totals 43 - a few changes to my original plan, but quite happy with that, as it was a lot of tasty food for the pointage! 29 dailies and 14 weeklies. Weeklies remaining 25. APs earned - not sure how many, as we strolled around quite a bit, but were sitting and standing for a lot of the time, so went for 50 minutes gentle walking - 4APs

Need to keep weekly usage low now for a couple of days, as we have a burger meal out on Thursday, using a 'G r o u p o n'. I wanted to book it for tonight, so it was nearer the start of the week, but they were booked up until Thursday.

I'm glad you had a good time at Audley End! I haven't been back since I was a child.

I'm having a meal out on Thursday too! I've got the voucher codes app on my phone and there's a 20% off Zizzi's voucher. I checked their website and they do some dairy free dishes (and lots of GF dishes!).

Which Burger place are u going to MW?I love Zizzis, normally go on a Monday when it's 50% off :)

By the sounds of it I will have to put Zizzis on the list!

We're going to a pub in Norwich that often does G r o u p o n s (have to space it or minis stars it out). First time I have been since going gluten free, but they have gluten free burgers. She also said that if they change the oil in the dryers on Thursday morning, then she will set aside one fryer for my chips and not fry anything with gluten in it for the day, but if they change them on Wednesday, then she might not be able to guarantee it, but I can have a jacket potato instead. She was very clued up by the sound of it, and said that she would err on the side of caution and not risk using the fryer unless she was certain it was gluten friendly! Either way I will be happy. I won't have the bun obviously, but didn't used to eat them very often anyway with burger and chips. I'll allow points for the chips, but if I end up with a jacket spud, then I can have a treacle tart and cream when I get home. The voucher also includes a hot drink and a dessert, but I doubt that they will have a suitable dessert. I'm not too bothered about that, as I very rarely have room for a dessert when I eat out.

Mmmmmm that sounds so yummy! I LOVE eating out, it's probably my favourite past-time lol! X

My sister always says she has a separate "pudding belly" for such occasions!

LOL! I can't make up my mind if I want one of those or not! I think the one belly I have at the moment is probably more than any one person should have to cope with!

Yes, me too. We very rarely go anywhere that doesn't involve eating - either a proper meal or a tea/coffee shop. Which, in my case, explains a lot really! As an example, my sister, who has always been slim, will go for a morning's clothes and general shopping and not even consider stopping anywhere for a cake and coffee. If she does stop for a coffee it is just that - coffee only. Whereas I tend to include my tea or coffee and cake stop in my planning of where I'm going!

I did not know about 50% off!

I love eating out. It's harder now I can't have dairy, but the good thing is it rules out dessert! I always used to eat dessert, my favourite was chocolate fudge cake with cream. Gorgeous, but I'd feel so ill afterwards. It's not worth it any more!

It's only on Mondays but I'm sure u and Dave might be able to go on a Monday? X
