Glad to hear you are back on low carb- agree the key is to make it work for you. Just re- read Taubes "why we get fat.." and really makes sense - just got to keep that insulin under control so body can heal itself and sort itself out!
Was thinking about your issue with multiple monthlies - given that the apparent reason we get extras/earlies is because we are dropping fat stores with extra hormones then perhaps it's inevitable on any fast weight loss programme. The example of shake diets not having this problem doesnt count because the seriously restricted calories means the body shuts down some areas. I know that what helped me (i used to get every 3 weeks for first 5 months vs normally dont get at all due to ius) was to welcome (!) their arrival as a sign i was firmly in ketosis and dropping lots of fat not usre if that helps - the good news is they trail off (probably as weight loss slows)
