Susie and Orbit's daily dribble

Hi all

Sorry for not posting sooner but there has been a lot to sort out - but many thanks for your kind posts. I'm just waiting for my passport to come back then am off home for two weeks to sort the house out, etc.

Dieting of any sort went out the window, and I'm now at my heaviest. Much as I love low carb I just can't sustain it, so I've decided to calorie count again, when I get my head sorted out.

Hope you are all well. I will try and catch up on diaries over the next day or so xxx

Hope you get your passport soon. Diet is least of your worries. Get everything else sorted xXxX love you xxxx

Hi Susie, Thinking of you. Was going to pm you with the same. You do well with calorie counting. I too love low carb but can't sustain it and after the initial whoosh the weekly loss is about the same on both. Better to do a plan that you can both lose with and maintain with imho. Take care of yourself. Sending hugs. XX

Morning lovely ladies and Jim

I'm so sorry it has taken a while to come back to you all, but the last five weeks have been horrendous and your kind posts have meant a great deal to me.

I'm feeling a lot better now Dad's service is over, and although I'm very sad not to have been there for it, my letter to Dad was read out and put in his casket, and the whole thing was videoed for me to watch at some point. The Home Office is staffed with real jobsworths and it now seems like my passport will take months to process, which was stressing me out even more - so my brother and I have decided that I'll go back to NZ in a few months. He has to go off this week to another part of NZ to finish a contract which will take a few months, so it makes sense all round.

I'm slowly getting my head back into diet focus, and agree with what you say about CC, Val, so will kick that off on Friday - plus I am going to get motivated to do some exercise! I'm feeling really unfit and breathless and my knees seem to hurt all the time - so it's gotta happen!

Love to all xxx

Aah good, you seem to have settled things and have a plan of action Susie. I have to say I am shocked that the passport issue will take SO long!! Makes me wonder what the heck it requires. Anyway, onwards and 'downwards', best wishes for your restart, you will feel all the better for making some progress :D xXx

Thanks guys - I have to say, I am really drawn to a club to help me stay focused and accountable but the only option close by is WW - anyone tried it?

No on second thoughts I'll stick to CC - more flexibility - but I have been googling for a personal trainer who specialises in the morbidly obese - not a single one!

Hi Susie

I did WW very successfully about four years ago and liked the flexibility of the Points system. I was less successful with the new ProPoints system, which has unlimited fruit ......

Of course, pretty much all diet plans work if you stick to them (and that's the bit that gets me every time!!) ;)

WW has a new program called simple start which I think is a lot like SW, I think you can go onto WW site and download the free food list. A friend at work just lost 4 stone on SW but I think she was very strict and kept syns low too. That's my prob being strict. :(

I've just had an amazing email from a fellow slimmer in a different section, who lost 7 stone on SW.

I think if the class is right, then I would really enjoy it. I don't like the idea of WW peddling all their products, especially when they are full of nasty additives and so on.

In my usual decisive fashion, I feel I'm veering back to SW. Please feel free to mock :D

Hi Susie,

Hope you're doing ok. That's crazy about the long wait for the passport :-(

No mocking about sw at all my hubby swears by it and has lost three stone (twice lol) it helps if you can find the right class - some of them are very good.

I couldn't hack it I'm afraid - too much freedom for me but I need something really strict to keep me on the straight and narrow as I have no will power.

It does work if you stick at it though

wishing you lots of luck xx

I think a club is a great idea. X

Yup SW works, Sandra's doing it and losing and a friend at work has lost 4 stone with it. Great idea. Just make sure you keep posting here X

LOL will do Val, I would miss you guys way too much! :)

There's a class about 10 mins away from work on a Wed night, so I'll go along and see what the consultant is like, cross fingers she is nice because that will make all the difference.

Clubs can be a great support, but I think it really depends on the mix of people and the person heading the class. For instance, I have been to WW where the teacher has not been a motivator and that's not good. One class I went to, the woman seemed lacklustre on my initial visit, but she grew on me and I loved that group. Sadly she had to change the time of the meeting and I couldnt make it :( I hope you find its just what you need Susie. But don'e you dare leave us behind, -we'd miss you too much :)

Spoke to my friend at work today. She's lost 4 stone in 6 months on SW. She said she was quite rigid and very much 'by the book'. Thought she was only allowed 10 syns a day but just found last week she was allowed 15 but still going to go by the 10. However she didn't use all the 10 everyday. She did mostly green days and didn't count anything free, but now that's she's almost at goal has been doing EE and some red. Also think she abstained from alcohol for the most part.

Hope this helps and that consultant is a good one. Your right makes all the difference. X

Abstaining from alcohol ? What's that ;)

LOL no abstaining here right now - finally some good news, my passport HAS been rushed through and should be back by the end of the week!!!!

I rang them for my usual daily "what's going on?" call and the nice man told me the good news - and promised me it actually is happening. Result - a few tears and lovely hugs from work friends :)

It doesn't change my plans to go back in August but it does mean I can go to Italy on the trip I've already paid for in April.
