This Little Piggy Goes to Atkins

I've done a Nigel Slater recipe, marinating them in soy sauce, garlic and all spice with salt. Will let you know what they're like.

Oh Smiley that's lovely! Oooh you got gold sandals to go with it?

And the marinating pork belly slices sound yummy - how did they taste?

I do find that I can easily overcook them, they would probably be fab in the slow cooker. Might try it tomorrow, if there's any in the freezer :)

No gold sandals, but black opaque tights and patent black heels. I need somewhere to wear it now!
Do you think the pork would be ok in the slow cooker even though it won't get crisp??

I'm also making a chocolate Swiss roll with the choc extract I got from Lakeland. Inside it's going to have cream and blackberry & basil. Will let you know what that tastes like!!

Oh my gosh that dress is gorgeous, really stunning.

I do my pork belly in soy sauce and all spice, it's delicious. I don't use strips though, I buy a 400-500g piece and roast it slowly in the oven - start it on high, 200 fan, then after 10 mins whack it down to 140 and leave for 2 - 3 hours.

Am sure slow cooked slices would be nice and you could always pop them under the grill or in a pan to crisp them after.

Glad you like it ML, I've had my eye on it for a while. Tried it on today and loved it, but really worried they would have none left in my size if I left it until payday.

The marinaded pork is going in shortly....

It's honestly lovely. I'm wondering if there's any way it would suit me.

It actually looks very flattering on, it's lined so it doesn't cling. I tried it on with a control all in one thing, which I wear most days (clearly I have more than one!). I am quite short too and found it's knee length about right. Wallis sizing is quite generous, so all in all it's a winner ML, buy it!

beautiful dress hunny bunny - thats decided then - we have to do overnight in London so you can wear it out for the evening :) and yay you SIZE 12 NICE!

Yes I would cook them the same as ML except i'd do the high high heat on a griddle pan, wok or frying pan and then low heat with foil and slow cook.

I was thinking exactly that, we can get dressed up and go out for dinner or something?

Eeeeeek, pork belly strips are not for me. I had over salted them, and I didn't like eating the fat. It was worth trying them though.

Tips:

I was surprised you added salt to a recipe with soy sauce - soy sauce is salt - its the Japanese replacement for that condiment. Maybe Nigel Slater likes it that way?

If you just slow cooked and didn't crisp the fat, cut it off. The way I do mine in the oven you get amazing crackling but the pork itself is still soft and falling apart.

Although it may just totally not be for you, those might help in future?

Oh and yes agree, I don't have a BBQ but have enjoyed it bbqed by other people before!

Totally gutted that I didn't get crackling. You're right, flipping soy sauce and salt???? I should have realised that myself, doh! Anyhoo, I enjoyed the asparagus.

Just made cheese on toast, eggs and protein powder with about half tsp baking powder. Put it into a silicone loaf tin (poundland) and micro for 2 mins 40 secs. Slice thinly and grill one side, add cheese to the other and lea & perrins, grill. It was nice, needs slightly tweaking as was quite chewy.

I find oopsies do a nice cheese on toast, the whisked egg white probably helps them not be chewy. I add a tbsp flax to my oopsies but wouldn't think it needs the protein powder.
