This Little Piggy Goes to Atkins

Im alright moving off Exante onto cal counting as my gallbladder is getting removed friday (wooo hooo). Having food is very nice after shakes and bars lol though not fond of the jaw ache that i developed :D. I managed to lose about 7st whilst waiting so no complaints here! Got 3 more to go, would try atkins but i tried before and I just didnt get on. With cal counting apps counting a lot easier than ever before :D

Huwie - your weight loss journey is amazing! Truly amazing - and hugely inspirational.

So sorry to hear about your op on Friday - and I wish you a speedy recovery and happy times ahead xxx

So glad the surgery is finally going ahead. I really hope it's plain sailing for you. Just looked at your recent photo on Your Exante diary - wow, minus 7 stone looks amazing on you!!
I had done Atkins some years ago and didn't get very far with it, but now I've read the New Atkins book, and with the help of the girls on here, I finally understand it! I eat amazing stuff and lose weight. Not too sure if the high fat would be ok with the gallbladder issues though?

Ive lost a total of 10st but 7 was on exante lol. I was dieting before I got gallstones with calorie counting and xenical. The surgery should be easy and i should be fit and ready pretty quick. I find it odd looking at the photos i don't even recognize myself.

On atkins I did have a look at what you all do. At the moment there is no way. I'm living vegan at the moment which is fine by me. After friday I would consider it if my son and hub weren't so picky it might happen. but at least with cal counting i can eat anything with them just have to watch the amounts. I already tend to eat low fat low carb as its been the way of life for the last year so im hoping 3st falls off once i can get back in the gym.

Thanks, should be easy peasy as its keyhole should be back to normal within 2 weeks.

Exante, eh? I don't have the strength to do the shakes and things - what made you stick to it?

THe threat of pain that involves going to the A&E really help you keep to such a strict diet as Diem has noted

without speaking on behalf of hm - it was the only food/nutrition her body would tolerate without debilitating gallbladder flair up's. So it was a case of stick to Exante or be in extreme pain. She's had a tough time of it waiting for her op date - but yay to finally being free from the pain and having more feeding choices :)

Well said dearie :D definitely Big YAY for surgery can't wait to have a piece of cheese, 10 months without, I'm dribbling at the thought!

Morning, as I've been taking over diem's diary with my talk of meringue making, I should progress it on here really!
I am planning to make meringues on Friday with this recipe http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2012/06/shannons-sugar-free-meringues-low-carb-and-gluten-free.html
I want to make Eton mess or a Pavlova, think I'll start with the little meringues first. Am also making a pizza quiche and some salad. I'm taking them over to my mums new flat, she's moving down from Cornwall. She is coming down in the removal van with her very old cat, which she is praying will survive the journey!
We'll be helping move everything into the flat (thank God it's ground floor!), and put her bed up etc. Think we'll be needing that food, and warm clothes - it'll be cold on the seafront with the Arctic wind a'blowing!

I had a go at meringues but they were so awful I just haven't tried since. I shall be watching with much interest. Mine sort of went... Brown and chewy? But I didn't want to make them if I couldn't use a sweetener I was comfortable with.

Will be nice having your mum closer I'm sure but yes, wrap up warm for the coast!

I will be interested to see how they turn out as they will be such a useful thing to fall back on, if all goes well. In the recipe she uses something that's not splenda, so not sure what result I'll get....

Yes, xylitol and erithiol are meant to be best for getting the texture but both are polyols that upset my stomach so that would render the while thing a bit useless for me. I think you used to be able to buy sugar free meringues in tesco with those sweeteners too - but I'm sure I've seen Splenda sweetened ones on sale somewhere.

My thoughts are already turning to Christmas low carb food. Although I won't stick rigidly to LC on Christmas day, I will be staying LC for the rest of the festivities. This website has some nice things on it
http://www.low-carbdiet.co.uk/xmas-recipes.htm
Whenever I've dieted over Christmas in the past, including vlcds, I've always stuck to them. I hate the thought of having to go back and re-lose weight after wards. Having said that, if I had any exciting plans I wouldn't be staying on it fully, I'm sure!

i was looking at that low carb pizza quiche recipe yesterday and copied it, there are some great recipe sites out there!!

I've made a low carb spice cake and it smells divine, freshly out of the oven. When I've been out with the dog, and the cake has cooled, I'll frost it and post a pic.
