Thanks ladies but I really don't have a choice if the flat is to dry out before Christmas. The landlord is a cool guy, he will reimburse me, and I'm in credit for gas because I overpay it during the rest of the year

It's just so awful to feel and hear it squelch underneath. Can't wait until it starts to smell, will have to sleep on the couch

Update - just in from viewing the houses (one lovely, one horrible) and the bathroom floor is still dry. Touch wood it stays that way!

Reporting back on the houses - the cheaper smaller one downstairs was awful, the flat I'm in now is bigger and nicer. The one with the lovely kitchen was so me - good sized rooms, nice bathroom, the kitchen was brill - but you had to go down the side of the house to get to the garden, which is really inconvenient, and I don't think I'd use it very much because of that.

So, am back to square one. Maybe prices will come down after the Olympics....any thoughts? xx

More good news - thought I was going to have to work until late tonight sorting out an invite list for a big event - but the agency is doing it yaye! Well, we are paying them loads...and they should have got it right to start with - but what a relief! Time for a hidden object game, then bed

Morning all

Flying visit before the morning's round of meetings - hoope you're all well!

More flooding in the bathroom this morning, but I think it is getting better - and once it's dry, it's a good little flat so will stay put for a while, keep saving and see what happens.

Jim - hidden object games are fab! They tell a story (someone's lost/kidnapped/etc) and you have to solve the mystery - eg in an old estate, with a manor house and grounds. You go from room to room and have to solve puzzles and mini hidden object games - it zooms in on a scene full of objects and you have to click on 10-12 that it tells you to find - the idea is that one of them will help you in following scenes eg you get a candle, which you need to light a room in a different house.

Very addictive!

Evening all - just in the door after another silly busy day, had to work through the Christmas party . Won't bore you with it, am boring myself...

So instead, something much nicer - only seven more working days to go, then ten whole days off woohoo...

Mad day from the start today
- 3am - bathroom completely flooded - clean it up
- 6am - repeat - and put other towels on to wash
- 7am - repeat 6am
- 8am - run away to a meeting

The landlord has just rung and is sending someone round tomorrow to dig a big ditch in the back patio to release what is obviously a Olympic sized swimming pool body of water under the flat!

Oh joy...the laminate is also a complete mess, with big pools of water - but the bathroom is defo the worst. Sooooo hopefully this will sort it out once and for all.

Sorry to be grizzling on - will head home at a decent time today and catch up with all your news xxx

Morning all

The bathroom has been about an inch deep in water since yesterday but have decided to leave it so the plumber can see the mess - so lovely to tip toe through to the loo (not) - oh and it's raining here as well - great...

Poor Orby is well put out. She can't go out the bathroom window or the front because of the rain so is wandering around and meowing this plaintive little cry at me - but we did have a nice cuddle this morning before the alarm went off. She seems to know exactly when I start thinking I need to get up for the loo and snuggles up two minutes before! She's curled up in my arms now bless her...
