Well it has been a few hours now but she's still under there. She is a very timid wee thing so am going to just leave her until she's ready, don't think there's anything else I can do.
Torties can be a bit nuts (I had one who terrified the dog!) but they're good as sole pets. Mine hid behind the sofa for days. Just remember they are the cat equivalent of red heads lol.
I had to shine a torch under the sofa to make sure she was there! There hasn't been a peep out of her so I somehow got it into my head that she was outside d'uh - if she's the nuts redhead in this relationship, then I'm the blonde (sorry to all blondes ).
I really hope it doesn't take days for her to come out I want to play and take some pics!
After a worrying 10 hour wait, Orbit emerged from under the sofa last night, did a recce of the flat then came for a cuddle - so we are fine and happy
After a couple of incidents (weeing in my laundry basket and tipping over the clothes drier at 4 in the morning, trying to get out for a number 2) she settled down, figured out the litter tray and slept on my bed. She's in kitty heaven now, under the duvet and with the bed to herself (see the last pic) - not even bacon has lured her out
LOL thanks hun I just know she is going to enrich my life, and it is perfect synchronicity - she needed a home and I needed something to dote on - much easier than a bloke
She has been really well looked after, had all her shots, the cut and tuck and flea treatments, and came with a big basket, a cat carrier and lots of squeaky toys - and a large TM Lewins shopping bag which she apparently loves (but hasn't shown much interest in yet). So there will be plenty to keep her occupied while I'm out at work. Angela, my lovely boss, has offered to look after her when I'm on hols too - so all is fab
How long do you think I should keep her inside? Couple of weeks?
Pleased she's settling in, it's nice she came for cuddles. Animals are so much easier that humans and show their affection in the little things they do more often I find. Enjoy the getting to know each other x
Aw she's lovely and looking contented and at home already. Is she purring? I always said mine were settled once they started purring ( probably nonsense lol) But I'd call her a tabby not a tortie which is probably a good thing xx

She purrs straight away, when I stroke her, and doesn't meow much (except when she was desperate for the loo last night, then she was frantic bless her).
Happy to think she's a tabby - I don't know the difference tbh
A friend thinks she might have some Siamese in here - the ears, eyes and her build, also has a Siamese tail But not the meow thank goodness!
Ooo it worked! She does have a siam look about her and if so it's a good job she's been done as my Siam x Persian had her first season at 11 weeks and the crying drove us nuts lol.
